GORDONVALE TURF CLUB – SATURDAY 13TH MAY 2017

Race 1: Ye Olde Gordonvale Hotel QTIS Maiden Plate (2YO & Up) 1100 metres:

FREE PRESS – Slow to begin. Taken wider at the 700 metres by another runner which was racing ungenerously.
 
ROTHE AND ROLL – Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Jumped the crossing at the 700 metres and refused to take any further part in the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the left hind. Trainer Ms S Molino was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the filly’s next start.
 
KENSINGTON STAR – Steadied and shifted around heels at the 100 metres to obtain clear running.
 
WILD AZ WILL – Apprentice E Cass stopped riding her mount over the final 50 metres as she felt something was amiss with the gelding. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer Mr T Rowe undertook to report to Stewards in the subsequent days if anything were to arise.

Race 2: Star 102.7/4CA Class B Handicap 1100 metres:

The declaration of Correct Weight was delayed when Apprentice N Nelson requested to view the available films to ascertain whether she had grounds to lodge a protest. After having done so Apprentice Nelson declined to proceed and Correct Weight was declared on the judge’s numbers.
 
SAGA’S PRINCESS – Marginally slow to begin.
 
EVERY FRIDAY – Bumped at the start.
 
JOHNNY FIX IT – Shifted out and bumped another runner at the start.
 
HE’S A VELLA – Raced ungenerously throughout and raced very wide on the 700 metre turn. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr R Baker was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
 
FLINCH – Jockey J Lambie was fined $100 under AR137A for excessive use of the whip.

Race 3: Gordonvale Caltex MM FNQ Up & Coming Stayers Benchmark 60 Handicap 1800 metres:


RED SHAWL – Bounded in the air on jumping.
 
HERE TO DASH – Slow to begin.
 
PINK STILETTO – Got it’s head up when being restrained in the early stages.
 
HOTEL SPLENDIDO – Jumped the crossing at the 700 metres. Raced wide in the middle and late stages. Hung out under pressure in the straight.

Race 4: Cairns Hardware Roy Marsh Memorial Open Handicap 1100 metres:

TYZONE – Marginally slow to begin.
 
SUNSET IN NEW YORK – Marginally slow to begin.
 
RAPT IN RUMBA – Made the turn at the 700 metres awkwardly when being ridden along and shifted very wide on the track.

Race 5: Tuff Tyres FNQ Benchmark 55 Handicap 1360 metres:


IRISH HEART – Slow to begin. Made the 700 metre turn awkwardly and was inclined to get its head in the air. Held up for clear running in the early part of the straight and had to be steadied when tightened for room at the 100 metres.
 
CUT ‘N’ POLISH – Marginally slow to begin. Approaching the 100 metres was steadied and shifted around heels
 
HYDRIVE - Marginally slow to begin.
 
JOHANTEE – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Shifted in under pressure at the 100 metres and was then shifted out around heels to obtain clear running.
 
PURRFECT TYCOON – Raced wide throughout. Tightened for room between runners at the 150 metres and had to be steadied.
 
BUSH VERSION – Hampered at the 100 metres by another runner which shifted in under pressure.
 
REGAL ROTH – Shifted in under pressure at the 150 metres hampering another runner.
