Race 1 – GREAT NORTHERN BREWING CO. BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1100m
Hand Of Faith – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly.
Strong Will – Slowly into stride.
Buxton – Restrained after improving onto heels near the 800m.
Dream I Can – Over-raced for some distance in the middle stages. Jockey S Pawsey was fined the sum of $100.00 for excessive whip use prior to the 100m. AR132(7)(a)(ii).
Yalanji – Made the 800m crossing awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
Race 2 – GILVEAR PLANNING CLASS B HANDICAP 1100m
Start Me Up which was reluctant to proceed to the start became cast in the barrier after becoming fractious sustaining abrasions to the nearside stifle and offside hock and was a late withdrawal by order of Stewards at 2.44pm. Trainer Mr. P Rowe advised it is now the intention to retire the gelding from racing. Nonetheless Mr. Rowe was advised, should circumstances change, that the gelding would require a Veterinary clearance and satisfactory trial  prior to again being permitted to start in a race. In this incident Party Glow which had drawn an adjoining barrier suffered abrasions to both hind legs and was also a late withdrawal on Veterinary advice at 2.46pm. Trainer Mr. R Ludwig was advised a Veterinary clearance would be required prior to the mare again being permitted to start in a race. Prior to the declaration of Correct Weight Stewards ordered  that all monies wagered on both horses be refunded in full and further that all successful wagers placed on the race be subject to deductions of 37 cents win and 26 cents place in the dollar on the face value of the betting ticket.
Bonnezone – Fractious in the barrier. Was inconvenienced near the 900m by another runner which was racing ungenerously. Raced wide rounding the home turn.
Labrusco – When racing ungenerously near the 900m shifted out inconveniencing another runner.
Fortune Faded – Jockey M Abe reported the mare had never travelled comfortably on the tight circuit. Raced wide rounding the home turn.
Golden Charles – Hung out for the majority.
Race 3 – FULLER SPORTS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1100m
Instinction Lass – Slowy away. Restrained after improving onto heels near the 1500m.
Taveuni – Slowly into stride. Jockey M Abe was fined the sum of $100.00 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. AR132(7)(a)(i).
Van Gaal – Jockey Ms. B Thomson reported the saddle shifted back in running and had contributed to the mare proving difficult to ride in the home straight.
Race 4 – CAIRNS HARDWARE BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1360m
Archie’s Son – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly.
Jimmy Hoffa – Slowly into stride. Was hampered when another runner shifted out abruptly near the 800m. Raced wide for the majority.
Celestial Jewel – Bumped with another runner soon after the start.
Drops Of Jupiter – Became unbalanced and shifted out after being bumped by another runner soon after the start. Baulked approaching the 800m crossing and shifted out abruptly hampering runners to its outside.
 Global Guru – Was hampered when another runner shifted out abruptly near the 800m.
Short Term – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
River Boy – A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer Mr. P Rowe was advised the gelding would require a Veterinary clearance prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
Race 5 – BILL DAWSON MEMORIAL GORDONVALE CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1in 800m
Bochy – Slowly into stride. Raced wide for the majority.
Barwon – Slowly into stride. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Jockey F Edwards was fined the sum of $100.00 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. AR132(7)(a)(ii).
Occhilupo – Over-raced in the early stages.
Snowy Moet – Shifted out across heels when over-racing near the 1500m. Continued to over-race for some distance.
Hot Saga – Jockey P Romeo commenced to hang in near the 800m and continued to do so for the remainder of the race. Jockey Romeo was fined the sum of $100.00 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. AR132(7)(a)(ii).
Warwick Avenue – Raced wide for the majority.
