Romeo was unable to ride at today’s meeting due to injury he was replaced as per steward’s summary. Race 1: COREY MACHAN SHEETMETAL MAIDEN PLATE – 1100 MetresWOLF POINT – Slow to begin. AUGTUSTA REVOLUTION – Slow into stride. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Raced wide rounding the home turn. OLD FASHIONED ROSE – Over-raced in the early stages.CODY’S BOY – Over-raced in the early stages. Made the 700-metre crossing awkwardly. CHARGRILL – Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed noabnormalities. Connections were advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s competitiveness and were further requested to advise stewards should anything come to their attention after returning to its stable that may have had a bearing on its performance today. Race 2: CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES CLASS B HANDICAP – 1100 Metres DIVINE WIT – Slow into stride on jumping. WICKED DREAMER – Over-raced in the early stages. Shifted wider rounding the home turn. CIVITAS – Made the 700-metre crossing awkwardly. DYSTOPIAN – Laid in under pressure approaching and leaving the 200 metres crowding SONIC LIGHT. SONIC LIGHT – Crowded for room approaching and leaving the 200 metres. NUCLEAR GIRL – Raced wide for the majority. MISSA STITCH – Raced wide for the majority. SCARLET DESIRE – Raced wide for the majority.Race 3: GILVEAR PLANNING QTIS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 1100 MetresDENIMS – Made the 700-metre crossing awkwardly. LOBURN LASS – Made the 700-metre crossing awkwardly.GOLDEN ATHENA – Raced wide for the majority. Race 4: CAIRNS HARDWARE BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP – 1360 MetresVIVENZO – After hearing submission from trainer M. Aitkenson who was acting on behalf of trainer M. Morrison, Mr Morrison was fined the sum of $100 for the late declaration of a rider for the gelding under the provisions LR67(1). ROCK SPUR – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Slow to begin. VANDANGLE – Under went a veterinary examination on arrival at the barriersand was declared a late scratching at 3.58pm by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice when found to lame in the near-hind leg. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on VANDANGLE were ordered to be refundedwith deductions of 8 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 8 cents inthe dollar on the face value of all place bets to be applicable. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to the gelding trialling or racing again. MEMBERS ONLY – Slow to begin. PICTON – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages. ROCK SPUR – Slow to begin. STIFLING – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg and a poor post-race recovery. Trainer A. Bailey was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance prior to it trialling or racing again. Race 5: KERRY COPPIN MEMORIAL/FULLER SPORTS COUNTRY CUPS CHALLENGE QUAL/GORDONVALE CUP OPENHANDICAP – 1800 Metres FORGIATO – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.GOLDEN GORGE – Steadied near the 400 metres when racing in restricted room. Improved onto heels approaching the winning post and was restrained.
