RACE 1: Mia Bella Jewellery Class 1 Handicap 850M

MIM’S GALLERY – Blundered on jumping, losing some ground.

INDESTRUCTIBLE – Raced three wide in the early stages.

NUG’S POCKET – Inclined to lay out throughout the event.

TEN TO LIFE – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Post-race became entangled in the winner’s stall and sustained an injury to its lower jaw. Vet examination revealed that two teeth on its lower jaw had been displaced.

Prior to correct weight being declared the rider of second-placed NUG’S POCKET wished to view the photo-finish image. After doing so jockey A Badger agreed with the judge’s decision and correct weight was semaphored on the judge’s numbers.

RACE 2: Hampton & Harlow Fashions on the Field Benchmark 55 Handicap 1030m

SHOULDA TO SHOULDA – Jumped inwards at the start making contact with another runner. Jockey K Gates was advised not to use the whip excessively on a horse that is clearly winning, given that the winning margin was 13 lengths.

AYBESEE – Bumped by another runner on jumping and resented the kickback throughout the event.

RACE 3: Gympie Junior Rugby League Development Maiden Plate 1170M

UNIQUE TOMMY – Prior to loading into barriers, made contact with the running rail behind the barriers. Was vetted and cleared to take its place in the field. On jumping was slow into stride. Post-race was vetted and found to have a small laceration to its off-hind leg.

SHOWDOWN WARRIOR – At the 950m was forced wide on the track by another runner and then raced wide for a short distance thereafter.

MANGO TANGO – After passing the 950m shifted out off the heels of another runner, forcing SHOWDOWN WARRIOR wider on the track.

MADDIE’S DESTINY – Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. Resented the kickback in the early stages of the event. After being beaten 34.5 lengths trainer Mr T Miller was advised that a warning was placed on the mare for poor performance.

GEMS BELL – Resented the kickback in the early stages of the race. After being beaten 34.4 lengths trainer Mr M Bailey was advised that a warning was placed on the mare for poor performance.

RACE 4: Mode South Side Hair & Beauty Open Handicap 1170M

MAXIMUM MERRITT – Shifted in at the 550m making contact with another runner. Apprentice jockey A Spinks was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care and straighten his mounts when shifting ground.

MY BELLA SYN – At the 550m had to be steadied when momentarily tightened by another runner.

FOREGONE – After beginning fairly was restrained to the rear and taken wide on the track. Stewards enquired into the tactics adopted by the rider. When questioned jockey K Gates stated that she rode the gelding as per its normal racing pattern, which is to settle just worse than mid-field and race wide on the track, as the gelding has resented the kickback in previous races and has performed well when ridden in this manner. Jockey K Gates also stated that at its previous runs the gelding has drawn wide barriers, which suits the horse’s racing pattern, whereas today the horse drew an inside barrier. Trainer Mr K Munce confirmed the instructions and also agreed with jockey K Gates explanation, and stated that this is how the gelding races best. After looking at the film and hearing the submissions put forward, stewards determined that in their opinion, even though ridden in a similar pattern to previously, jockey K Gates may have erred in her decision to restrain the gelding so early in the event and race wider than stewards believe it had to. As the gelding was favourite for the event and made up a lot of ground in the run to the line with a reasonable finishing effort, jockey K Gates was advised that her ride lacked judgement and to not leave herself open to be scrutinised under the rules. Jockey K Gates agreed with the stewards findings and said she may have erred in her decision to race as wide as she did on the track. Stewards noted her explanation.

RACE 5: Gympie Times Ladies Raceday Benchmark 65 Handicap 1470m

KLISNROC – Jumped outwards making contact with another runner.

OMITTANCE – Bumped by another runner on jumping.

WAY UP THERE – Raced wide in the middle stages.

ZED MAN – Raced wide throughout the event.

KING OF JACKS – Raced wide throughout the event.
