QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT GYMPIE TURF CLUBSATURDAY 18TH SEPTEMBER 2021 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Sand RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman – K DalyStewards – R Hansen, W Moore (Club), A Reardon (Club)Clerk of Scales – R HansenPhoto Finish – P ChiltonVeterinarian – Dr P AgnewStarter – G Honeywell GENERAL: Due to current covid restrictions Stewards permitted the following weight variations:Race 1: EASY ROCKER – C Meehan – 55kg (+1kg)Race 4: PETITE ELLE – Bradley Appo – 55.5kg (+0.5kg)Race 5: BARLEY HUNTER – Bradley Appo – 55.5kg (+0.5kg) Race 1 – Maiden Plate 1170 METRES ARATULA – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid out shortly after the start crowding both MARMION and IRONSTONE GAL.KICK HI – Hampered when taken in approaching the 900 metres. MARMION – Crowded shortly after the start. PRINCE OF DIAMONDS – Approaching the 900 metres was crowded for room and had to be steadied when KICK HI was hampered and taken in by MA DUSHKA which shifted in. Apprentice E McPherson, rider of MA BUSHKA, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding. SENSE OF EXPENSE – Blundered on jumping and lost ground. COUNTY LOVE – Raced wide for the majority of the event. IRONSTONE GAL – Crowded shortly after the start. UNSUGARED – Raced wide for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the off-hind pastern. MA DUSHKA – When asked to comment on the performance rider E McPherson stated the gelding travelled comfortably behind the leader in the early stages of the event however when placed under pressure from the 500 metres failed to respond to her riding and was disappointing. Trainer R Drysdale was of the opinion MA DUSHKA would derive significant fitness benefit from the run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting signs of the thumps. Race 2 – Class B HDCP 1170 METRES STORMTROOPER – Obliged to shift wider near the 150 metres. REBEL CAUSE – Slow to begin. Raced four-wide from the 700 metres. When asked to comment on the performance, rider K Gates stated the gelding performs better when able to race on the speed and after being slow to begin, was obliged to race further back in the field than anticipated. HER OPTION – Slow to begin. CARLTON STAR – Near the 150 metres, shifted out to obtain clear running resulting in STORMTROOPER being taken wider on the track. Rider C Meehan reported the gelding had a tendency to hang out during the event, adding that CARLTON STAR would derive significant fitness benefit from today’s run. Race 3 – Benchmark 60 HDCP 850 METRES VICEMAN – Raced four-wide for the majority of the event. METRO TRAMP – Raced wide with cover for the majority of the event. FIRST BID – Raced wide for the majority of the event. AURORA CHARM – Bumped on jumping and lost ground. DANCING TALES – Jumped out at the start bumping AURORA CHARM. Shifted out near the 700 metres. BOOM CHUGGA LUGGA – Taken out near the 700 metres when DANCING TALES shifted out and as a result was obliged to steady after becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of DUKATTI. App A Donald, rider of DANCING TALES, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Race 4 - QTIS CUP OPEN HDCP 1170 METRES DIGGITY – After being slow to begin, was then slow to muster speed in the early stages of the event. CRISSCROSS – Jumped in at the start and bumped with LITTLE DRUMMER BOY. Raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event. LITTLE DRUMMER BOY – Jumped out at the start and bumped with CRISSCROSS. PETITE ELLE – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Race 5 – Benchmark 55 HDCP 1600 METRES SHINNECOCK – Knuckled on jumping, and a short distance later was checked when BARLEY HUNTER shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider. When asked to comment on the performance, rider M Murphy stated after receiving interferenceat the start SHINNECOCK settled further back in the field than anticipated however when placed under pressure near the 600 metres failed to respond to his riding. Representative for Trainer L Gough indicated connections would now consider the immediate racing future of SHINNECOCK. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the off fore fetlock. CRAIGLEA CENTINA – Had to be steadied from the heels of NINE CIGARS near the 1500 metres. App A Donald, rider of NINE CIGARS was advised to exercise greater care. CREDENZA – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers. BARLEY HUNTER – Shifted in abruptly on jumping. Rider Bradley Appo reported the gelding in his opinion did not handle the sand track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed BARLEY HUNTER to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer M Patterson was advised the gelding would require a Veterinary Certificate prior to its next race start.
