Race 1 - QTIS Maiden Plate (850 METRES)
 
CROWNING GLORY – As had not raced for an extended period, underwent a veterinary examination prior to the start and was cleared to start. Slow to begin.
 
EMPEROR’S REWARD – Jumped in at the start and bumped heavily with TEMPLE MISTRESS.
 
THE MONEY SPENDER – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
CALICO COUNTY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MISS BONTASTIC – Blundered on jumping and as a result the Norton bit nasal strap snapped.
 
TEMPLE MISTRESS – After being bumped heavily at the start, rider Adam Spinks became unbalanced in the saddle and lost use of his offside stirrup iron for a short distance thereafter.
 
 
Race 2 – Ratings 0 - 55 Handicap (850 METRES)
 
Correct weight was delayed allowing the judge to review the patrol footage to assist in the determination of placings.
 
FAV’S FLYER – When asked to comment on the disappointing performance rider L Barr advised the horse travelled comfortably in the position outside the leader however when placed under pressure at the entrance to the home straight failed to respond to her riding and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness on the off foreleg. Trainer D Schulz was advised FAV’S FLYER would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race or trial start.
 
FOX ON THE ROCKS – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
NAYTELLRHI BIRD – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Rider L Dillion reported the horse did not appreciate racing on the sand track surface for the first time.
 
SOLID ASSET – Began awkwardly.
 
STRIVE TO SUCCEED – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
 
 
Race 3 – Class B Handicap (1170 METRES)
 
DAULAT MACHTIGNAGA – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
ZAYDE – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
RASHEED – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
BACHVARA – When asked to comment o the performance rider N Thomas reported after leading the event the horse failed to respond to his riding from the 600m and was very disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off foreleg, and also lacerations to the off foreleg consistent with having been galloped on during the race. Trainer B Ahrens was advised BACHVARA would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race or trial start.
 
LOVE CLASS – Began awkwardly, shifted in abruptly at the start resulting in rider L Dillon becoming unbalanced in the saddle for a short distance.
 
VIZONE – When asked to comment on the apparent improved performance trainer K Roon advised the horse had been racing fairly at its most recent starts, however appreciated today’s sand track surface.
 
JUSTAWAY – Began awkwardly.
 
MR INTREPID – Checked at the start and lost ground.
 
 
 
Race 4 - Open Handicap (1030 METRES)
 
WEBOUGHTAZOU – Raced wide throughout.A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have bled from both nostrils for the second time. Trainer G Richardson was advised WEBOUGHTAZOU would now incur a lifetime bar from racing under AR79(6).
 
NEW ALLIANCE – Blundered at the start and lost ground.
 
LOGAN’S BLADE – After trainer A Sawden advised that due to an oversight the visors had not been included in the gear bag, permission was granted for the horse to race without that gear. A public announcement was made to this effect.
 
 
 
Race 5 – Benchmark 60 Handicap (1470 METRES)
 
CENTAUR – Raced wide throughout.
 
CREDENZA – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers. H Richardson, rider of CREDENZA, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted.
 
BLONDE’S DAY OUT – Began awkwardly resulting in rider M Butlers right foot making heavy contract with the near side barrier partition.
