QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT GYMPIE TURF CLUB SATURDAY 17 JUNE 2023 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Sand RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – S. FletcherStewards – R. Honeywell GENERALStewards permitted the following weight variations at today’s meeting:Race 4: FRISCO’S IMAGE – Todd Banks (+ 1kg)Race 5: RENAULT – Todd Banks 55kg (+1.5kg)Race 5: HEAR HEAR – Gemma Steele 55kg (+1kg) Race 1: HMAS GYMPIE STAKES QTIS Maiden Plate 1170m BAILEY BOO – Raced wide in the early stages. DAULAT MACHTIGKUDA – Bumped at the start. DAULAT MERAH BESAR – Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. EMEROR TEIO – Blundered on jumping away. MA DUSHKA – Stood flat footed and lost significant ground. Trainer R. Drysdale was advised that the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again. MUSSEL LINES – Tightened for room shortly after the start. Raced ungenerously from the 950m until near the 750m. MISS BONTASTIC – Jumped out at the start and bumped DAULAT MACHTIGKUDA. ALL ABOUT LEWIS – Steadied near the 1000m between BAILEY BOO and IRONSTONE GAL which laid out. Shifted out around the heels of BAILEY BOO leaving the 100m to obtain clear running. IRONSTONE GAL – Laid out shortly after the start despite the efforts of the rider. Steadied when tightened for room near the 700m when racing between DAULAT MACHTIGKUDA and ALL ABOUT LINES which was momentarily taken in by BAILEY BOO, which shifted momentarily. T. Banks (BAILEY BOO) was asked to exercise greater care. MISS BONTASTIC – Jumped out at the start and bumped DAULAT MACHTIGKUDA. REOJOAN – Shortly after the start was steadied when tightened for room between ALL ABOUT LEWIS and MUSSLE LINES which was taken out by IRONSTONE GAL which jumped awkwardly and shifted out despite the efforts of the rider. Shifted out abruptly near the 1000m and raced wide round the first turn. Race 2: VIETNAM VETERANS CUP Class B Handicap 1170m OPAQUELY – Near the 650m shifted in and made heavy contact with the running rail becoming unbalanced and losing ground. Apprentice S. Blunt reported that her mount did not handle today’s track conditions. INVANESS – Raced wide throughout the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. CANNY BOY – Raced wide throughout. Jockey H. Phillips reported that her mount resented the kick back from the track. Race 3: SPECIAL OPERATIONS MILITARY WORKING DOGS “KUGA CUP” Ratings Band 0-55 Handicap 850m WHO TOLD YA was declared a late scratching at 12.54pm when the mare was unable to be loaded for transport to the Gympie track. BLUEY’S READY – Slow to begin losing considerable ground. Trainer G. Steele was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding for being slow to begin. ROOTS’N’ROCKS – Steadied approaching the 600m when racing in restricted room. At a subsequent inquiry, stewards established that ROOT’N’ROCKS and CAMAROSA raced in restricted room and had to be steadied between DANCING TALES which shifted out slightly from the running rail and YES NO MAYBE which shifted in marginally. Stewards advised M. Powell (YES NO MAYBE) and H. Phillips (DANCING TALES) to exercise greater care. BRAZETTI – Raced wide throughout. ULTRA INSTINCT – Raced wide throughout. CAMAROSA – Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 600m. Race 4: LEGACY CENTENARY STAKES Benchmark 65 Handicap 1030m Correct weight was delayed to allow G. Steele the rider of third placed GO DEEP to view the stewards patrol footage, G. Steele subsequently elected not to proceed further. Correct weight was further delayed to allow H. Phillips the rider fifth placed VICEMAN to view the stewards patrol footage, H. Phillips subsequently elected not to proceed further, and correct weight was declared on the judge’s placing’s. HOLIDAY DREAMS – Approaching the home turn shifted in and bumped the hind quarters of VICEMAN which became unbalanced and in turn shifted in marginally resulting in LOGAN’S BLADE having to be steadied. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. GO DEEP – Leaving the 900m was restrained and lost ground. At a subsequent inquiry stewards established that GO DEEP had to be restrained when tight for room between HOLIDAY DREAMS which shifted in momentarily and I AM FEARLESS which when commencing to over race, shifted out despite the efforts of the rider, contributing to the tightening of GO DEEP. In this incident jockey P. Hamblin (HOLIDAY DREAMS) was advised to exercise care. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to behave been galloped on and to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer A. Olsen will be advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to GO DEEP racing again. I AM FEARLESS – Began awkwardly. Commenced to over race leaving the 900m and shifted out despite the efforts of the rider, when being restrained, commenced to hang out and then had to be steadied when improving onto heels near the 800m. Trainer G. Richardson was advised that a warning would be placed on the racing manners of the gelding. Raced wide throughout. VICEMAN – Bumped on the hind quarters approaching the home turn and became unbalanced. CITY CHICK – Blundered on jumping. LOGAN’S BLADE – Steadied approaching the home turn. Race 5: GYMPIE RSL CRYSTAL VASE Benchmark 60 Handicap 1470m Correct weight was delayed to allow jockey M. Powell the rider of second placed BELLICOSE to view the official photo for first. M. Powell was subsequently satisfied with the judge’s placing’s and correct weight was declared. WAITAKERE – When asked to comment on the performance, jockey P. Hamblin stated that that the gelding began well but never travelled comfortably. He added that he had to pressure WAITAKERE from the 1100m and that the gelding finished the race off fairly. STEP ON FIRE – Blundered on jumping away. Raced wide from the 600m. FREEDOM AVENUE – Blundered on jumping away. NORTHERN WOODS (NZ) – Raced wide from the 600m. COMMENTS – Apprentice S. Blunt reported that her intentions were to position her mount in the second half of the field. She added after obtaining a position with cover passing the winning post on the first occasion, she was placed at a distinct disadvantage when not being able to see runners in front of her due to the kick back from the track. She further added that after hearing a call from another rider approaching the turn out of the straight, she steadied her mount, which as a result lost ground and raced at the tail of the field. S. Blunt stated she placed her mount under pressure from the 800m and that COMMENTS responded to her riding and ran home well over the concluding stages. BELLICOSE – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. THE ANGELS KISS – Raced wide throughout.
