GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting-
 
Race 1 – DAY TIME MARTINIS – M. Powell +1kg (56kg)
Race 5 – HURRICANE HALL – C. Meehan +1kg (56kg)
 
Race 1: SUCCULENT AUSTRALIAN BEEF Class B Handicap 850 METRES
 
Correct weight was delayed allowing jockey G. Steele the rider of the 3rd placed runner LOUD ATTRACTION to review the films rounding the home turn. After reviewing the films, jockey G. Steele decided to take the matter no further and correct weight was declared on the judge’s numbers.
 
 
FRIDAY’S JET – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Jockey H. Phillips reported that on jumping her mounts cross-over noseband broke placing her at some disadvantage throughout the event.
 
LOUD ATTRACTION – Rounding the home turn, momentarily raced in restricted room and became awkwardly placed at the heels of DAY TIME MARTINIS which shifted in marginally. Jockey M. Powell the rider of DAY TIME MARTINIS was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
MASSABIELLE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination having not raced in 12 months and was cleared to start. Bumped on jumping.
 
MUSSEL LINES – Slow to begin.
 
JAIN – Began awkwardly.
 
RASHEED – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped MASSABIELLE.
 
DAY TIME MARTINIS – Stewards acceded to a request from trainer T. Haydon for jockey M. Powell to ride 1kg overweight. Stewards after considering the matter, reprimanded trainer T. Haydon pursuant to AR227(a) in that he was negligent for failing to follow procedure regarding overweight riders. Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 2: NOLAN PRIVATE SELECTION BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1030 METRES
 
THREE STRIPES – Near the 800m, was bumped by OUR LIL SISTAR and became unbalanced.
 
DAUNTING PRINCESS – Began awkwardly.
 
OUR LIL SISTAR – Shifted out near the 800m and bumped THREE STRIPES.
 
TWO DUCKS ARTIE – Slow to begin. Apprentice R. Thorburn reported that his mount was inclined to lay in throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer R. Connolly was advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings’ racing manners.
 
 
Race 3: NAB MORE THAN MONEY QTIS Maiden Plate 1030 METRES
 
DAULAT MACHTIGKUDA – Approaching the 100m, improved onto heels and was obliged to shift inwards to secure clear running.
 
FREE CHOICE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
WALLY’S REVENGE – Jockey K. Gates reported that in her opinion her mount resented the kickback.
 
BELLE JUMENT – Slow to begin. Apprentice B. Moffat was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(6)(c) for using the whip when his mount was out of contention.
 
DAUNTING STORM – Bumped on jumping.
 
SHEZA FLYER – Raced wide throughout.
 
TESSELEIGHT – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
THE DEVASTATOR – Near the 750m, whilst racing ungenerously, shifted wider on the track resulting in its rider becoming momentarily awkward in the saddle. Jockey A. Spinks advised that in his opinion the mare resented the kickback.
 
Race 4: NOLAN VALE BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1170 METRES
 
BRIGHT TIARA – Jockey M. Powell reported that in his opinion his mount didn’t appreciate the sand racing surface.
 
LATE NIGHT DEVIL – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1050m, bumped with RED GADGET.
 
REGALO D’ORO – Slow to begin.
 
TRUE TALLY – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice S. Willis was fined $300 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m. 
 
RED GADGET – Approaching the 1050m, bumped with LATE NIGHT DEVIL. Near the 1000m, became awkwardly placed at the heels of TRUE TALLY which shifted in.  Apprentice S. Willis the rider of TRUE TALLY pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a), in that near the 1000m, she made insufficient effort to prevent her mount from shifting in, which resulted in RED GADGET being awkwardly placed at its heels, obliging its rider to check and lose its position. Apprentice Willis’ licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight the 28th of August and to expire midnight the 5th of September 2023.
 
Race 5: NOLAN GYMPIE MUSTER CUP OPEN Handicap 1470 METRES
 
TAPPY’S ONE – Slow to begin. Apprentice R. Thorburn reported that in his opinion his mount didn’t appreciate the sand racing surface. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
DARE TO SHARE – Blundered shortly after the start.
 
KAPPY CHINO –Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, was steadied from the heels of THE CARPENTER which laid in. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from one-nostril. Trainer J. Crompton was advised that the gelding would be required to gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to next racing. Jockey C. Eaton was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
THE CARPENTER – Jockey A. Spinks dropped his rein on jumping and became unbalanced. Laid in approaching the winning post on the first occasion. Trainer T. Hall was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners. Jockey A. Spinks was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
HURRICANE HALL – Hampered shortly after the start.
 
NINE CIGARS – Raced wide in the early stages.
