Race 2: NOLAN VALE BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP   1030 Metres
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow apprentice J. Busuttin and trainer P. Busuttin to view the available patrol footage to ascertain whether FIRST GRANGE had been afforded a fair start. On viewing the patrol footage and interviewing starter G. Honeywell, it was established that the barrier of FIRST GRANGE was slow to open resulting in the gelding losing significant ground. Under the provisions of AR204(1)(c), Stewards declared FIRST GRANGE to be a non-runner and correct weight was declared on the judge’s numbers with the following deductions to apply: 10c for the win, 13c for the place
CITY CHICK – Raced wide throughout.
BABU KING – Raced wide throughout.
SEA COMMITS – Knuckled on jumping. On pulling up, apprentice S. Bailey was dislodged from her mount which shied away from the riderless horse. Apprentice Bailey was stood down from her remaining engagements due to pain in her left foot. Apprentice Bailey was advised that a medical clearance would be required prior to riding again.
MUSSEL LINES – Passing the 100m, shifted in abruptly dislodging jockey W. D’Avila. Jockey D’Avila was transported to hospital for further assessment and was advised he will require a medical clearance including a cognitive assessment and the required 12-day stand down period as per QRIC Concussion protocol prior to riding again. Trainer T. Thomas was advised that MUSSEL LINES will require a satisfactory barrier trial prior to racing again. On return to his stables, Mr Thomas advised Stewards that the gelding had pulled up with a swollen eye.
