GENERAL
 
Apprentice J. Busuttin was reprimanded pursuant to AR 143(14)(a) in that she was only able to claim 2.5kg of her 3kg allowance in Race 2, and 2kg of her 3kg allowance in Race 3. Stewards when considering penalty, accepted Apprentice Busuttin’s reasons given for being unable to claim her full allowance and took into account her good record in accordance with this rule.
 
Race 1: THANK YOU MERV WELCH BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP  1030 M
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 2 minutes after the ambulance on course became bogged and required assistance.
 
KELANOA – Began awkwardly and hampered shortly after the start when EARLSTON shifted out and FIRST GRANGE shifted in. Shifted out entering the home straight before shifting in passing the 100m and laid in under pressure for the remainder. When asked to comment on today’s performance, Apprentice J. Busuttin stated that after only beginning fairly, her mount resented the kickback from today’s racing surface.

KOGA NINJA – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
MERSEY GIRL – Slow to begin and as a result lost ground. Lost its near fore, off fore and near hind plates during the event. Trainer K Afford reported that MERSEY GIRL would now be retired from racing. 
 
FIRST GRANGE – Shifted in on jumping. Laid out entering the home straight.
 
EARLSTON – Began awkwardly, shifted out and hampered KELANOA.
 
Race 2: 4TINT2U COOLOOLA WINDOW TINTING BURNETT TO THE BEACH - HEAT - BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP  1170 M
 
HURRICANE HALL – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Taken wider on the home turn when BRAIDWOOD QUEEN laid out. Laid in under pressure down the home straight.
 
NINE CIGARS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
I'M FAMOUS – Shifted out shortly after the start and bumped CHILL OUT MISS. Inclined to lay out in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Jockey R. Payne reported that in her opinion I'M FAMOUS was not suited by today’s racing surface.
 
BRAIDWOOD QUEEN – Laid out rounding the home turn. Stewards permitted Apprentice J. Busuttin to claim only 2.5kg of her 3kg allowance.
 
CHILL OUT MISS – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout.
 
OPAQUELY – Slow to begin. Apprentice T. Wheeler reported that in his opinion his mount resented the kickback and was not suited by today’s racing surface.
 
Race 3: ARENDA PARTNERSHIP PTY LTD BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP  850 M
 
SHAJAEA – Blundered badly on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Trainer A. Hayward reported the gelding had a minor laceration to its near hind stifle area.
 
BABU KING – After being fractious in the barriers was slow to begin. Momentarily held up on entering the home straight. Passing the 200m, shifted in to obtain clear running and was inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight, resulting in its rider being obliged to stop riding and straighten on multiple occasions.  
 
GOLD REVOLUTION – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Passing the 100m, Apprentice T. Wheeler’s whip broke and was consequently dropped.
 
FORT MYER – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
YOU ESS ESS ARE – Began awkwardly and made contact with the offside barrier partition. Raced wide throughout.
 
THE STORM – Began awkwardly and shifted out shortly after the start.
 
FEND OFF – Slow to begin. Stewards permitted Apprentice J. Busuttin to claim only 2kg of her 3kg allowance.
 
Race 4: THANK YOU GREG HONEYWILL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE  850 M
 
The start of this race was delayed when LOCHINVAR ROAD was fractious in the enclosure, dislodging its rider and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 4:08pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared all successful bets placed on LOCHINVAR ROAD to be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st – HEY PUMPKIN 6c win, 6c place
2nd – GOOD RESULTS 9c place
3rd – ZARA DANSAIT 7c place
 
The start of this race was further delayed when ALVITAR refused to load into the barriers and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 4:15pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared all successful bets placed on ALVITAR to be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st – HEY PUMPKIN 1c win, 1c place
2nd – GOOD RESULTS 3c place
3rd – ZARA DANSAIT 2c place
 
 
BEWARE THE WOLF (NZ) – Slow to begin. Jockey H. Phillips reported that after being slow to begin, in her opinion the gelding resented the kickback from today’s racing surface.
 
GOOD RESULTS – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LOCHINVAR ROAD – Became fractious in the enclosure, dislodging its rider and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 4:08pm.Trainer B. Gill was advised LOCHINVAR ROAD would require a further barrier certificate before racing again.  
 
PANTHER POWER – Raced wide throughout. Shifted in passing the 100m.
 
FAY'S FLYIN' – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice J. Busuttin reported that the mare resented the kickback from today’s racing surface.
 
PLATINUM ROSE – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
SHE'S SO SWANK – Bumped on jumping. Shifted in across the heels of PLATINUM ROSE passing the 100m to obtain clear running.
 
ALVITAR - Refused to load into the barriers and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 4:15pm. Trainer S. Elix was advised ALVITAR would require a further barrier certificate before racing again.
 
BUBBLY MOON – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Shifted in under pressure passing the 100m.
 
HEY PUMPKIN – Began awkwardly and blundered on jumping causing its rider to become momentarily unbalanced. Laid out passing the 400m shifting ZARA DANSAIT wider on the track. Shifted out slightly passing the 200m before being corrected by its rider.
 
ZARA DANSAIT – Shifted in passing the 200m and was momentarily steadied from the heels of HEY PUMPKIN.
 
Race 5: 4TINT2U COOLOOLA SIGNS & DESIGN BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP  1470 M
 
TAKE THE LEAD – Slow to begin. Passing the 750m, shifted out marginally and bumped YOUNG HENRY.
 
PRIMARY WITNESS – Shifted wider passing the 400m to improve position and raced wide for the remainder. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
YOUNG HENRY – Bumped passing the 750mand lost ground when TAKE THE LEAD shifted out. Apprentice M Apel stated that in her opinion YOUNG HENRY was not suited by today’s racing surface.
 
PIPPEN – Blundered badly on jumping, resulting in Apprentice B. Moffat being dislodged. After the race, Apprentice Moffat was examined by the on course QAS officers and was cleared of any injury.
 
CASH ARTIST – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
