LATE RIDING CHANGES:

Due to the limited number of riders available at the meeting, all explanations for the late declaration of riders were accepted.

As Jockey G. Watson was ill and unable to fulfil his engagements, substitutions were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Jockey Watson was advised that he must furnish a medical clearance before being permitted to ride again.


Race 1: Welcome to the Burdekin Race Club QTIS 3-Y-O Handicap - 1000 metres
1st - SHE'S ALL OURS 2nd - ROYAL PHYSICIAN 3rd - LUNAR LUCK 4th - CHOI OI

MONSOON TWISTER - Apprentice Darren Evans was a late declaration as rider of the flly.

CHOI OI - Slow to begin and was inclined to hang out throughout the event.

SHE'S ALL OURS - Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.

ROYAL PHYSICIAN - Was inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

TRY ME DOL - On returnign to scale the rider reported that after being slow to begin his mount was constantly under pressure, never travelled well at any stage and in his opinion will be better suited in races over a longer distance.

Race 2: Racing Queensland Maiden Plate - 1000 metres
1st - DENIS THE DUDE 2nd - EXTRA GLANCE 3rd - GREENSKI 4th -
KOOLKUNA BABE

HELOW TUCKER - Apprentice Darren Evans replaced Jockey G. Watson, as no other senior rider was available.

COLOUR PARADE - Began awkwardly.

LORD MARMALADE - At the start shifted in and bumped another runner.

DENIS THE DUDE - Bumped at the start.

EXTRA GLANCE - Rounding the turn near the 700 metres had to be steadied when racing tight to the inside of another runner.

SILRUVIAN - Laid out in the home straight.

Race 3: SKY sports Radio Class 3 Plate - 1460 metres
1st - MARKAZY 2nd - BLU AXIS 3rd - SHERIDAN 4th - MANZANITA

UNREAL - Jockey J. Felix was a late notification as rider of the gelding. Whilst en route to the barriers dislodged its rider, Jockey J. Felix and galloped a considerable distance. Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 2.12 p.m. Subsequently they ordered that all bets made on UNREAL be refunded in full and that the following deductions apply:

0¢ in the dollar for the win for the winner, MARKAZY
4¢ in the dollar for the place for the winner, MARKAZY
2¢ in the dollar for the place for 2nd, BLU AXIS

EIREANN - In the early stages raced ungenerously and refused to settle. Passing the 600 metres had to be steadied when racing tight between runners.

Race 4: TAB Racing @ Burdekin Saturday 7 March Class 1 Handicap - 1180 metres
1st - SHE BEE STINGIN' 2nd - DAZZLUNA 3rd - SEQUALO SUZIE 4th - FLIGHT TO GLORY

Following the running of Race 3 it was observed that the draw bar on the barriers had snapped, necessitating replacement of that set of barriers and resulting in a delay to the start of Race 4 so that the starters could test the replacement barriers on a number of occasions to ensure their satisfactory operation.

DAZZLUNA - Jockey S. Wilson was a late declaration as rider of the mare.

MORE NORTHERLY - Apprentice M. Powell was a late declarationas rider of the gelding. Rounding the turn near the 700 metres when racing in restricted room clipped the heels of another runner and blundered.

MOONLIGHT CAFÉ - Began awkwardly.

YOU'RE SO LUCKY - Crowded for room shortly after the start.

I'M MARIAH - Hung out rounding the first turn, near the 700 metres.

SUNNY CHIEF - Raced ungenerously and hung out throughout the event. Trainer R. Cussons was advised that a warning will be placed on the gelding's racing manners.

JUST A FRACTION - When questioned regarding the poor performance of the gelding, Jockey A. Butler explained that his mount never travelled comfortably throughout the event and was inclined to hang out. He added that in his opinion the gelding did not handle the tight turning track. A post-race veterinary examination of JUST A FRACTION did not reveal any abnormalities.

Race 5: Burdekinraceclub.com.au Class 2 Handicap - 1000 metres
1st - EFFIGY BELLE 2nd - SUNSET IN NEW YORK 3rd - ROAD FOX 4th - PASCALINO

ZIGGY'S SPIRIT - Apprentice T. Williams was a late notification as rider of the mare. Began awkwardly.

LEICA DUEL - App. K. Aho replaced Jockey G. Watson when no senior rider was available.

FIDDY GEE - Apprenice M. Powell replaced Jockey D. Simmons as rider of the mare.

GUITARIST - Was slow to begin.

FIDDY GEE - Was slow to begin.

SUNSET IN NEW YORK - For some distance rounding the home turn was held up on heels and unable to obtain clear running.

Race 6: SKY Racing BenchMark70 Handicap - 1000 metres
1st - WISHFUL 2nd - KINGS ROAD 3rd - STARLISTIC 4th - PUBLIC AFFAIR

MONDUKE - Jockey D. Simmons replaced Jockey G. Watson. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had sustained a minor laceration to its off hind leg.

TABASCO FORCE - Began awkwardly, then on the turn near the 700 metres blundered, resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced. Hung out rounding the home turn.

EXAGGERATION - Was hampered on jumping.

KINGS ROAD - Slipped behind at the start and lost ground. Lost it’s off hind plate in running.

VIA CON DIOS - Laid out rounding the home turn.

MY KING OATH - Jockey reported that after being slow to begin, his mount travelled only fairly throughout and in his opinion was not suited by the tight turning track.
