Race 1: Racing Queensland QTIS 2-Y-O Handicap - 1000 metres
1st - TURN UP THE VOLUME 2nd - WICKED CRIME 3rd - ULTRA RED 4th - BAMBY
MINNIE STREET - Began awkwardly, shifted out very abruptly and lost considerable ground. Trainer T. Rowe was advised that a warning will be placed on the filly.
SIF - Began awkwardly. Near the 600 metres made contact with the running rail and became unbalanced.
BAMBY - Rounding the turn near the 600 metres had to be steadied when racing tight to the inside of another runner.
TURN UP THE VOLUME - Approaching the 400 metres brushed the running rail
SONIC BOOMER - Jockey G. Kliese reported that his mount raced greenly throughout.
Race 2: Burdekinraceclub.com.au Maiden Handicap - 1180 metres
1st - BLUE DANUBE 2nd - KENNYNOPAS 3rd - GREENSKI 4th - ALL ROSIE
COLOUR PARADE - For a short distance after the start attempted to buck. Trainer R. Chillemi was told that a warning will be placed on the gelding's racing manners.
HELOW TUCKER - Was bumped on jumping.
BLUE DANUBE - For some distance approaching the 600 metres had to be continually steadied when racing tight to the inside of ALL ROSIE (App. D. Evans). Apprentice Evans was told to exercise more care and ensure that he leaves sufficieng racing room for runners to his inside.
SAVAGE LAND - In the straight laid in.
ADIZERO - In the home straight raced greenly under pressure and carried another runner wider.
VIRGINIA FALLS - Taken wider in the home straight.
Race 3: Racing @ Home Hill Sunday 26th April Class 3 Handicap - 1180 metres
1st - EXTRA GLANCE 2nd - MORE NORTHERLY 3rd - ARCANUS 4th - FIELDS OF TUSCANY
MORE NORTHERLY - Due to the shortage of riders, stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer B. Williams for the late declaration of Jockey M. Abe as the rider of the gelding.
DENIS THE DUDE - Was slow to begin.
FAST 'N' SHARP - Raced greenly in the early stages and hung in, despite the efforts of its rider.
KOOLKUNA BABE - App. B. Swaffer reported that after being crowded for room shortly after the start his mount raced further back in the field than he had anticipated and was caught wide throughout, however when placed under pressure passing the 400 metres failed to respond and was disappointing.
SUNSET IN NEW YORK - When questioned regarding the poor performance of of the filly, Jockey F. Edwards explained that his mount was caught wide for the entirety of the event and was a beaten horse as far from the finish as the 400 metres. Trainer Mr R. Baker advised stewards that he will freshen up the filly prior to its next race start. A post-race veterinary examination of the filly did not
Race 4: Growers Race Day Saturday 16th May Class 3 Plate - 1460 metres
1st - GUITARIST 2nd - STANDFORD 3rd - MALIBU ROSE 4th - RED GAZE
STANDFORD - Was slow to begin.
LOFTY'S MATE - Raced keenly when being restrained rounding the first turn near the 1250 metres.
DANARULE - When questioned regarding his riding of the gelding, Jockey D.Simmons explained that he had been instructed to ride his mount in a prominent position from its favourable draw. He said that after beginning well he was able to obtain a position behind the leaders, where his mount travelled comfortably, however approaching the 900 metres he was tightened for room and lost ground. He stated that from that point he was continually under pressure when racing in restricted room to the inside of another runner and when able to obtain clear running ran on only fairly. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer S. Potiris confirmed the instructions issued to Jockey Simmons.
MISHANI PAGAN - When questioned regarding the poor performance of the filly, App. D. Evans stated that his mount blundered near the crossing at the 1200 metres and in his opinion failed to handle the tight turning track. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
Race 5: SKY Racing BenchMark 60 Handicap - 1000 metres
1st - PUBLIC AFFAIR 2nd - DANGAR DIVA 3rd - MAECENUS 4th - STREET SINGER
JACSAID - Was crowded for room at the start. Approaching the first turn, near the 600 metres, when racing keenly, shifted out and carried MOONLIGHT CAFÉ and MONDUKE wider. A short distance later the mare again shifted out and made contact with MOONLIGHT CAFÉ. Rounding the home turn continued to shift out under pressure and took MOONLIGHT CAFE wider.
SWEET ASA ROSE - Passing the 400 metres shifted out and bumped another runner. Shortly after straightening was bumped heavily by another runner, which shifted out.
MARK ME OLEE - Shortly after straightening for home shifted out abruptly and made heavy contact with another.
Race 6: Malpass Hotel Home Hill Open Handicap - 1000 metres
1st - BAR ATTACK 2nd - GENERAL RIPPA 3rd - ALL THE TORQUE 4th - ADDICTION TO ROCK
SCOT FREE - Fractious in the barriers. Examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and acting on her advice stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 4.34 p.m. Subsequently they orderred that all bets made on SCOT FREE be refunded in full and that the follow deductions apply:
16¢ in the dollar for the win
14¢ in the dollar for the place
DEL PALIO - Began very awkwardly and lost ground.
SIZZLELON - Approaching the first turn, near the 600 metres, had to be checked when racing in restricted room.
FUNDIDO - Passing the 500 metres broke down badly in the near foreleg, blundered and fell, dislodging its rider, Jockey G. Kliese. ASSERTIVE ALBERT, SIZZLELON and DEL PALIO, which were following, were all checked as a consequence. An inquiry into the incident was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed.
