QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT BURDEKIN RACE CLUB INC. – SATURDAY 3rd NOVEMBER 2018 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 3 RAIL – IN TRUE POSITION OFFICIALSSteward – P Lane, P Gillard, B ConnellStarter – N JohnsonClerk of Scales – StewardsJudge – T DaviesVeterinarian/Sample Collection Officer – D Viero Swab Attendant – Veterinarian GENERALDue to a malfunction with the official Photo Finish system, Stewards utilised the services of extra personnel and auxiliary camera equipment to assist the Judge in determining the finishing positions of all runners. All participating Licensees were made aware of the situation prior to the start of Race 1. Race 1: DULCIFY 1978 BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 900m MOLONGLE MAGIC – Slowly away. RAPT IN RUMBA – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Jockey Ms. N Nelson reported the saddle shifted to the nearside passing the 600m placing her at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event. OUR RECIPE – Was inclined to lay in under pressure approaching the winning post having to be restrained off the heels of another runner which shifted out marginally. THE FLASH ONE – Shifted out marginally when placed under pressure in the concluding stages inconveniencing another runner. Jockey S Pawsey was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Race 2: MAHOGANY 1993 CLASS B HANDICAP 900m When Jockey S Pawsey who was engaged to ride SPEEWAH LASS was to be significantly overweight he was replaced by Jockey S Sheargold who was the only other rider available. Stewards permitted Jockey Sheargold to ride the mare 1.5kg over its allotted weight. Jockey Pawsey was subsequently fined the sum of $100.00 under the provisions of AR120(b). SPEEWAH LASS – Slowly away. MAGITORIAL – Shifted in abruptly on jumping. DORIS STAR – Began awkwardly, shifting out abruptly bumping another runner. Raced wide for the majority. ROCKET OF GOLD – Bumped by another runner on jumping. SI D’ARMOUR – Raced wide in the middle stages. Taken wider by another runner rounding the home turn. YOU’RE SO VAIN – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. FLYING DUBAI – Raced wide for the majority. TUSCAN GAMBLER – Shifted out rounding the home turn, taking another runner wider. Race 3: PHAR LAP 1929 CLASS 3 PLATE 1180m CAPT’N THUNDERBIRD – Slowly away. Bumped with another runner soon after jumping. KENNYNOPAS – Bumped with another runner soon after jumping. Race 4: TULLOCH 1957 MAIDEN PLATE 1460m TWISITED SUCCESS – Fractious in the barrier. Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority. LEGAL LOOPHOLE – Fractious in the barrier. WAKOOL – Slowly into stride. FIRST TRAIN – Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. JINGAS – Raced wide for the majority. Race 5: EFFICIENT 2006 CLASS B HANDICAP 1460m BALLERDEE BOB – Very slow away after becoming fractious just prior to the start being effected. Had to be restrained near the 1200m when racing in restricted room. HOSTILE LILY – Near the 800m the mare laid in despite the efforts of Jockey P Cullen, severely checking the running of TAPTHETILL. PREMIERE PLACE, which was racing to the outside of TAPTHETILL was also inconvenienced. Shortly after Jockey Cullen eased HOSTILE LILY out of the race. A post-race veterinary inspection revealed the mare to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer Mr. A Cameron was advised a Veterinary clearance would be required prior to the mare’s next race start. TAP THE TILL – Severely checked near the 800m. PREMIER PLACE – Inconvenienced near the 800m. Stewards questioned Trainer Mr. R Nelson in relation to the marked improvement in the form of the winner, ZEDAHEEL. Mr Nelson advised that the horse was having its third run back from an ease up in today’s event and was competing in a lower class race than that of its previous two starts and also had previously raced well at this track. He further added that after having removed the blinkers he had refitted that piece of gear for today’s event. Whilst Stewards noted Mr Nelson’s explanation he was advised that the horse’s form would be monitored going forward.
