Race 1 – Burdekin Veterinary Services Pty Ltd Class B Handicap – 900m
The start of the race was delayed 18 minutes due to the late arrival of the judge and the setting up of the photo finish equipment.
 
TAPTHETILL and TUSCAN GAMBLER escaped from the Clerk of the Course prior to the start and returned to the saddling enclosure.  TUSCAN GAMBLER was scratched at 12.45pm and TAPTHETILL shortly after when the horse became loose a second time from the Clerk of the Course.  Both horses were inspected by the veterinarian.  Bookmakers were advised to rule off their books. All investments on TAPTHETIL and TUSCAN GAMBLER were directed to be refunded and a deduction of 15¢ in the dollar above the line for a win bet and a deduction of 16¢ in the dollar for a place bet.
The starting times of Races 2 to 7 were adjusted by 10 minutes respectively.
 
WRITTINKO – Raced wide throughout.
 
ROCKETHEAD – Held up momentarily near at the 400m
 
VELVET GLOVE – Slow to begin.
 
WAY TOO SASSY – Shifted out under pressure near the 200m.
 
ADOREE – Shifted out under pressure near the 200m.
 
MISHANI LA SCALA – Slow to begin. Inconvenienced near the 200m.
 
Race 2 – Liquor Legends BenchMark 65 Handicap – 900m
 
SOUND INVESTMENT – Slow out
 
 
Race 3 – Lamanna Premier Group Maiden Plant – 1180m
 
AMERICAN GENERAL – Eased off another runner at 900m.

DRUMEOUS – Bumped by another runner as the start.
 
ICE WARRIOR – Inconvenienced by another runner at the start. Shifted in near the 900m inconveniencing another runner. Rider M. Abe was reprimanded.
 
ACEEM – Raced wide in the middle stages.
 
MISS INQUISTIVE – Jumped awkwardly and bumped another runner.
 
GEORGIE’S DEAL – Slow to begin.  Raced wide in the middle stages.
 
LITTLE RED COUPE – Slow to begin.  Eased off heels near the 900m when tightened for room.  Underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found
 
Race 4 – Pacifice Reef Fisheries QTIS BenchMark 60 Handicap – 1180m
 
 AZTEC WARRIOR – Jumped awkwardly.  Raced ungenerously in early stages.
 
GOLD TORQUE – Slow to begin.

BRAVE BOW – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the middle stages.
 
SHORT TERM – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
BACKTO SPEC – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
Race 5 – TAB Battle of the Bush Burdekin Qualifier Open Handicap – 1180m
 
POINT FORWARD – Fractious in barrier reared and became entangled in the stalls.  Underwent a veterinary inspection and was found to have bruising to the near fore cannon. Stood down until the completion of a satisfactory barrier trial. Late scratching at 15.30. Bookmakers were advised to rule off the books.  All investments were directed to be refunded on POINT FORWARD and a deduction of 19¢ in the dollar on all winning bets above the line and 20¢ in the dollar on place bets.
 
LA JULIETTE – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
Race 6 – Landmark BenchMark 55 Handicap – 1460m
 
HUTCHO – Tightened for room and checked at 700m.
 
KENNYNPAS – Rider reported that the horse appeared sore.  Underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained a sprained near fore fetlock. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to the gelding being permitted to race again.
 
 
SHOT OF COURAGE – Raced wide in early stages.  Shifted in when not sufficiently clear at 700m.
Rider M. Abe pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding (AR131a) for allowing his mount to shift in causing interference to HUTCHO approaching 700m which in turn was forced in causing interference to THE DECKRAIDER. Rider Abe’s licence was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence midnight 18/05/2019 up to and including midnight 28 May 2019.
 
 
LIBERATION LAD – Shifted in inconveniencing another runner prior to the finish line.  Rider S. Wilson was reprimanded.
 
RATUNGA – Tightened for racing room by another runner prior to the finish line.
 
HYPER DRIVER – Inconvenienced shortly after the start.
 
THE DECKERAIDER – Checked severely near the 700m.
 
SHARP DIAMOND – Slow to begin.
 
Race 7 – Carlton United Breweries Burdekin Cup BenchMark 69 Handicap – 1830m
 
MUSTARRID – Inspected by the veterinarian at the barriers prior to the race and was found to be lame in near fore leg and was subsequently declared a late scratching from the race at 17.00.  Bookmakers were advised to rule off the books.  All investments were directed to be refunded on MUSTARRID and a deduction of 19¢ in the dollar on all winning bets above the line and 16¢ in the dollar on place bets. Trainer O. Cairns was advised Veterinary Certificate of Fitness must be provided prior the horse racing.
 
RUN HOFF RUN – Raced wide early and in the middle stages.
 
ZEDAHEEL – Slow to begin, and tailed off.  Underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained a ruptured ligament to the off front leg.  A veterinary Certificate of Fitness is required before starting.
