Race Day Stewards’ Report Home Hill ThoroughbredsDate: 11/01/2020Track: Good 3Weather: FineRail: TrueStewards Panel: C Warren (Chairman), M Braunberger, D LaneOfficials: D Viero (Veterinarian), D Viero (Swab Official), J Cullen (Starter), R Judge (Judge), Stewards (Clerk of Scales) GeneralTrainer Miss S Royes was reprimanded under the provisions of LR 67(1)(3) for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time. REAR VIEW MIRROR was declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 1200pm when no suitable rider was available. Though Senior Jockey Miss B Thomson was not engaged in this race the provisions of the Standard for Licensing Scheme-Thoroughbreds Schedule 2-License Categories Part 14 specifies, Where the Trainer/Jockey License holder has a runner trained by them entered in a race, such person shall not be permitted to take another mount in preference to the stable runner. As Miss Thomson was also the Trainer of EXCEEDING ASSASIN, which had obtained a place in the field and had secured a rider, Miss Thomson was therefore ineligible to assume the ride on REAR VIEW MIRROR leaving no suitable rider available. Race 1 – BRAVE WARRIOR BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 900mINVISIBLE GIRL- Slow to begin. WRITTEN IMAGE- Inclined to shift in under pressure over concluding stages. Race 2 – HOUTZEN CLASS B HANDICAP 900mPUNCHEON JOURNEY- Began Awkwardly and lost ground.NITRO CITY- Fractious in the barriers. Began awkwardly.TA CHANSON- Bumped with another runner on jumping.FAVOR OF GOD- Bumped with another runner on jumping.DREAM PIECE- Raced wide throughout. Hung out rounding the 600m turn forcing another runner wider and causing it to be restrained and lose ground. Trainer Mr J Campeo was informed the gelding would be required to successfully Trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on two (2) consecutive occasions prior to again being permitted to start in a race.MISTY MORNING- Raced wide throughout. Forced wider near the 600m by another runner that commenced to hang out. Lost ground when restrained in order to avoid being taken wider. Race 3 – REAL SURREAL MAIDEN PLATE 1000mMORENITA- Fractious in the barriers. Slow to begin. Finished tailed-off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed minor bruising to the area above the right eye. Trainer J Campeo was informed a warning would be placed on the mares performance. JUMPIN’ JACKMAC- Shifted out on jumping bumping with another runner.ARTE ET MARTE- Bumped with another runner on jumping which shifted out. Commenced to race ungenerously when crossed by other runners from the 800 to the 600m.TRIX- Stewards accepted the reasons tendered by Trainer Mr J Campeo as to the late rider declaration of Jockey K Aho. Raced wide throughout.JARS- Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages. Due to a clerical error, the gelding was advertised as wearing blinkers in the official race program. As this was incorrect, the gelding was permitted to race without that piece of gear. Race 4 – SNIPPETS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1180mARCHIES SON- Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Trainers representative Miss J Doolan was informed a warning would be placed on the geldings barrier manners.MOVING TARGET- As no other suitable rider was available Stewards permitted Jockey S Sheargold to ride the gelding 1kg over the allotted weight. Raced wide for the majority.Upon straightening CHIC SOX (F Edwards) commenced to lay in gradually and passing the 50m shifted in across the running of TRUE MYTH (App D Graham) resulting in that runner having to be restrained momentarily. As a result Jockey F Edwards was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a), in considering the matter Stewards took into account the racing manners of CHIC SOX, the tiring run of TRUE MYTH and the degree of interference. Race 5 – GENERAL NEDIYM CLASS B HANDICAP 1460mOUR DESERT ROSE- Slow to beginDALAKANSHE- Began awkwardly. Jumped the 1200m crossing.LONROADTOFLY- Over-raced early. Jumped the 1200m crossing.CHERMSIDE MISS- Over-raced early. Jumped 1200m crossing.TRY BEFORE DUBAI- Jumped 1200m crossing.SCHILL ROCK YOU- Jumped 1200m crossing.TIMELESS GREY- Hung out rounding the 1200m turn.FEATHER YOUR NEST- Improved onto the heels of another runner and restrained momentarily before shifting wider passing the 400m.KUMARI- Stewards inquired into the tactics adopted on the mare, which led the field by a considerable distance before tiring in the home straight. Jockey/Trainer Miss B Thomson advised Stewards it had been her intention to be positive on the mare and after beginning well she elected to assume the easy lead. Miss Thomson added further that her attempts to then restrain her mount in an effort to settle however it commenced to over-race. None the less this was an unusual racing pattern for the mare and Miss Thomson was cautioned and reminded of her obligations under the provisions of AR100(1)(a).
