QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORTBURDEKIN RACE CLUBHOME HILL – Saturday 12 09 2020WEATHER – Overcast TRACK RATING – Good 3 RAIL – TrueOFFICIALSChairman of Stewards – C WarrenStewards – P Lane, D LaneClerk of Scales – StewardsJudge – R GudgeVeterinarian – Dr D VieroSwab Attendants – Dr D VieroStarter – D BannisterAssistant Starter– J Cullen Race 1: Joyce Mayne Benchmark 65 Handicap (1460m)BATTLE- Buffeted between runners on jumping and was tightened for room soon after having to be momentarily steadied. Raced wide the majority. Performed below market expectations. Jockey B Thomson advised that after suffering some interference on jumping her mount was subsequently caught wide throughout and failed to let down as expected. Trainer A Cameron advised that, in his opinion, the gelding had come to the end of its preparation and connections would now consider its immediate racing future and likely send the gelding for an immediate spell. Stewards noted the explanation. GREY TOP- Shifted out on jumping bumping another runner and continued to shift out tightening another runner. ACADEMY HILL- Shifted in on jumping bumping with another runner. FLUIDITY- After being marginally slow away was placed in restricted room and obliged to steady when a runner to its inside shifted out. Shifted out in an effort to improve passing the 600m but was unable to obtain clear running and subsequently shifted back in to a position along the inside running rail.POSITIVE SPIN- Commenced to race ungenerously from the 1300-1100m. Jockey C Jokic advised that the gelding hung out approaching the 1200m turn and raced ungenerously for some distance after. Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow for Stewards to view footage of the start. After viewing the official patrol footage it was determined that all runners were afforded a fair start and correct weight was declared on the judges semaphored numbers. Race 2: Bill (Cody) Prizeman Memorial QTIS Benchmark 55 Handicap (1180m)HARRY ROCKET- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing at Mackay on the 8th of September 2020 and was passed fit to start.CHIC SOX- Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Shifted wider approaching the 600m in an effort to improve. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. ROCKET HEAD- Bumped with another runner on jumping. NOT TONIGHT DEAR- Began awkwardly. Shifted very wide rounding the home turn. Raced wide throughout. STRYKING PRINCESS- As no other rider was available Stewards permitted Jockey G Kliese to ride the mare 1kg over its allotted weight. Bumped with another runner on jumping. MISS DEFIANCE- Slowly away. Raced ungenerously throughout. ANNE CATHERINE- Shifted very wide rounding the home turn. Raced wide throughout. RISING BOOM- Raced wide throughout. WE’LL BEAT IT- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after being kicked by another runner in the mounting yard and was passed fit to start. Performed below market expectations. App. K Southam was unable to offer any tangible reason as to the poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer B Williams undertook to advise Stewards should anything become apparent regarding the geldings condition in coming days. Race 3: Burdekin Race Club QTIS Benchmark Handicap (1180m)VAMPARINA- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing at Mackay on the 8th of September 2020 and was passed fit to start. Shifted out on jumping. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. Raced wide throughout.FAVOR OF GOD- Fractious in the barriers. Began awkwardly and bumped with another runner. MOLONGLE DRIFTER- Bumped with another runner on jumping. SPLENDARAMA- Shifted wider leaving the 500m in an effort to improve. NUCLEAR BOOM- Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. HIT SNOOZE- Shifted in and away from another runner which was laying in leaving the 100m. EVIL EYE MAC- Inclined to lay in down the running. Performed below market expectations. Jockey S Sheargold stated that the gelding travelled well in running but failed to let down as expected and was unable to offer any tangible reason as to the disappointing performance. Trainer A Molino advised he was disappointed with the performance and that he would consider the geldings immediate racing future after assessing how it recovers after todays event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. MUNRO- Obliged to restrain after being disappointed when attempting to secure a marginal run between runners passing the 150m. Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Miss G Holt, Trainer of 3rd place getter HIT SNOOZE, to view the photo finish. After viewing the official photo Miss Holt was satisfied with the result and correct weight was declared on the judges semaphored numbers. Race 4: Michael Mens & Boyswear Open Handicap (1000m)MARTIAL ART- Slow into stride. MOLONGLE CHIEF- Shifted in on jumping bumping with another runner. PLATINUM TYCOON- Bumped by another runner on jumping, shifted in and bumped with another runner. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. CATAMOSPHERE- Bumped by another runner which shifted in on jumping. Settled further back than expected. Jockey C Jokic advised that her instructions had been to be positive but her mount failed to muster the early speed needed to maintain a forward position, adding that, in her opinion, the gelding would be better suited to events over further distances. Stewards noted the explanation.MOLONGLE MAGIC- Raced wide throughout. HIDDEN IN HEAVEN- Inclined to lay out under pressure down the running. Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey P Romeo, rider of 4th place getter MISHANI REDMAN, to view the photo finish. After viewing the official photo Jockey Romeo was satisfied with the result and correct weight was declared on the judges semaphored numbers. Race 5: L’Shu On Queen Maiden Plate (900m)HIBACHI MISS- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after a prolonged absence from racing and was passed fit to start. The Start was delayed when ALPHA BLUE dislodged Jockey W D’Avila whilst on route to the barriers, galloped some distance and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 3:48pm. All monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and placegetters prior to declaration of correct weight were: 4 cents in the dollar on all win bets5 cents in the dollar on all place betsTrainer D Vievers was advised the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race. Jockey D’Avila declared himself fit to fulfill his remaining engagements. The start was further delayed when HIDDEN LILY proved difficult to load. Trainer L McCormack was advised the filly would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race. HIDDEN LILLY- Difficult to load. Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. NERINA- Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised the geldings nominations would be refused at TAB venues until its barrier manners at non-TAB venues improve. Bumped with another runner on jumping. Raced wide throughout. ARROGANT HEART- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Settled further forward than expected. Jockey Abe advised that after beginning well he elected to go forward from the wide barrier and try to secure a position behind the leaders along the inside running rail. Trainer K McGuire advised that his instructions had been to endeavour to secure a position near the inside running rail and not be caught wide. Stewards noted the explanation and reminded Mr McGuire of his obligations under the provisions of AR100.HARRINGTON- Began awkwardly and shifted out. Race 6: Ede Events Class B Handicap (900m)MORE THAN GOOD- As App. E Cass was dually engaged Jockey P Romeo was substituted as rider of the gelding. App. Cass was fined the sum of $100 for accepting a ride on two runners in the same race. Slow into stride. MISS ELLEY- Jockey B Thomson advised that the mare was inclined to lay out rounding the 600m turn. METRO MISSILE- Raced wide throughout. COMBATTANT DE RUE- Raced wide throughout.
