QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT BURDEKIN TURF CLUB HOME HILL – SATURDAY 10 APRIL 2021 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Soft 5 RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P LaneStewards – P WarrenClerk of Scales – StewardsJudges – T DaviesVeterinarian/Sample Collection Officer – D VieroStarter – D Bannnister Race 1: FRUIT & VEG GIVEAWAY BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1460m HEMSTED – The gelding, which escaped its strapper after being unloaded upon arrival on course, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. TICKET KEEPER – Began awkwardly. Made the 1200m crossing awkwardly. WOTSIZNAME – Raced wide for the majority. CASUARINA STAR – Trailled the field when unable to muster pace in the early and middle stages, before making up some ground towards the finish. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 2: GROWERS DAY 22ND MAY BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1180m CABALO ESCURO – Began awkwardly. IDLE JACK – Slowly into stride. Raced wide from the 600m. SIDETRIP – Raced wide for the majority. Race 3: BOOK TICKETS ONLINE MAIDEN PLATE 1180m CRAIGLEA MARKITA - After becoming fractious at the barriers, escaped barrier attendant and galloped a considerable distance. Withdrawn by order of Stewards at 3.19pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on CRAIGLEA MARKITA be refunded in full and further that deductions of 19 cents in the dollar win and 20 cents in the dollar place on the face value of the betting ticket be applicable to all successful wagers placed on the event prior to the time of scratching. Trainer Mr J Manzelmann was advised the filly would be required to trial satisfactorily on two (2) consecutive occasions prior to next race start. GINGER BICKY – Slowly away. Race 4: FASHIONS ON THE FIELD OPEN PLATE 1000mFAB’S COWBOY – Shifted in soon after jumping crowding a runner to its inside. Raced wide for the majority. SHIRANDA – Slow to muster pace after being inconvenienced by another runner soon after jumping. MASON’S CHANCE – Momentarily inconvenienced when racing in restricted room to the inside of another runner approaching the 600m. RAIDEN – Shifted wider near the 600m racing wide from that point. EL SHADAY – Lost the near fore plate in running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be mildly lame in the near fore. Trainer Mr A Cameron was advised a veterinary clearance will be required prior to next start. Race 5: THANK YOU ROSE CLASS B HANDICAP 1000m HERSHISER – Inconvenienced when tightened between runners soon after jumping. Raced wide for the majority. GOTTHERE – Jockey S Sheargold reported that the barrier gate had swung back soon after the start was effected making contact with the head of the mare which finished in 3rd placing after jumping away on terms with the field. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no evidence of any injury. HIBACHI MISS – Raced below market expectations. A post-race veterinary examination revealed general muscle soreness. Trainer Mr R Tapiolas was advised a veterinary clearance will be required prior to next start.
