QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT BURDEKIN RACE CLUB HOME HILL – SATURDAY 19th June 2021 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Soft 5 RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – C Warren Stewards – D Griffiths, D LaneClerk of Scales – StewardsJudge – K DeaneVeterinarian – Dr D VieroSwab Attendants – Dr D VieroStarter – D Bannister Race 1: CAMPBELLS JEWLERY QTIS BANCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1460m ROCKETHEAD- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Commenced to race ungenerously and shifted out abruptly passing the 1200m severely hampering runners to its outside and was consequently retired from the race. A post-race veterinary revealed dirt in the geldings right eye consistent with being struck by kickback. Stewards acknowledged this may have contributed to the geldings racing manners but nonetheless advised Trainer J Manzelmann the gelding would be required to trial prior to again being permitted to start in a race. THE SILVER LADY- Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped with another runner before shifting out and bumping with a further runner. Hampered by another runner which shifted out on entering into the home straight. On returning to scale Jockey W D’Avila advised that the filly had swallowed her tongue in running. Trainer Representative B Herne advised he would consider implementing a gear change to add a tongue tie to the fillies gear prior to racing again. KEIGHLEY SUN- Bumped with another runner soon after jumping. Severely hampered by another runner passing the 1200m and lost significant ground. AL MAH ROCKET- Severely hampered by another runner passing the 1200m, lost significant ground and was subsequently retired from the race. STAR RAIDER- Shifted wider hampering another runner on entering the home straight. Jockey F Edwards was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. CHINCHINBILLA- Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. Race 2: CONNOLLY SUTHERS LAWYERS CLASS B HANDICAP 1180m KIERETSU- As no other suitable rider was available Stewards permitted App D Graham to ride the mare 1.5kg over its allocated weight. Fractious in the barrier. Trainer B Johnson was advised a warning would be placed on the mares barrier manners. Inconvenienced when obliged to shift wider passing the 200m to avoid a fallen rider. MYZABOOM- As no other suitable rider was available Stewards permitted Jockey G Kliese to ride the mare 0.5kg over its allocated weight. GOLDEN TREASURE- Shifted in and bumped with another runner on jumping. VARSITY- Shifted out and bumped with another runner on jumping. NATURE DEEL- Shifted in passing the 700m hampering a runner to its inside. Jockey F Edwards was reprimanded as a result of this incident. Bumped by another runner which was forced wider by a runner to it inside which shifted wider to avoid a fallen rider passing the 200m. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. SUPREME PRINCE- Hampered by another runner which shifted in passing the 700m. Inconvenienced when obliged to shift wider passing the 200m to avoid a fallen rider. NUCLEAR BOOM- Bumped by another runner which shifted wider to avoid a fallen rider passing the 200m. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. Stewards will inquire into the reason VARSITY blundered and dislodged Jockey M Haley near the 200m. Jockey Haley who sustained a leg injury in the incident, was transported by QAS to Ayr Base Hospital and was later advised by Stewards that he will require a medical clearance prior to resuming race riding. Replacement riders were engaged as per Stewards race day summary. Race 3: NUTRIEN AG SOLUTIONS MAIDEN PLATE 2yo & UP 1000m TISAYAC- Due to a clerical error Jockey J Felix was not declared as rider of the filly in the official program. On course patrons were notified of this error prior to the commencement of betting on the event. IMPULSIVE FLIGHT- As the filly was resenting the tongue tie in the mounting yard Stewards gave permission for it to race without that piece of gear. ALPHA BLUE- Momentarily hampered by another runner which was laying out under pressure passing the 200m. Raced wide the majority. JINK AND JIVE- Inclined to lay out under pressure down the running, momentarily hampering another runner passing the 200m. App A Donald was reminded of her obligations. Raced wide the majority. Race 4: TRUENORTH INTERIORS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1000m RURAL REBEL- As no other suitable rider was available Stewards permitted App D Graham to ride the mare 1.5kg over its allocated weight. Began awkwardly. Raced wide the majority. CLIFTON COUNTY- As no other suitable rider was available Stewards permitted Jockey S Sheargold to ride the gelding 2kg over its allocated weight. Held up for clear running for a majority of the home straight. ZORRO FEMININO- Bumped with another runner on jumping. SHE’S MAGANDA- Buffeted between running on jumping after being marginally slow to begin. Held up for clear running from the 100m. INVISIBLE GIRL- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Inclined to shift in under pressure down the running. DOUBLE DENMAN- Shifted out and around the heels of another runner passing the 100m. App T Fenlon was reminded of her obligations. OAKFIELD COSTA- Raced wide the majority. MEAZZA- Raced wide the majority. Race 5: BURDEKIN RACE CLUB BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1830m POWERLIFT- Was a late scratching at 10:00am after found to be lame. Trainer J Caught was advised a scratching certificate and a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to the gelding again being permitted to start in a race. POTAWATOMI- Race wide the majority. LUCKY FOR SOME- Stewards inquired into the tactics adopted on the gelding which led by further than would be expected and subsequently compounded in the finish. Trainer M Geaney advised that his instructions had been to be positive from the wide barrier and if able to obtain an easy lead do so otherwise endeavour to settle just off the leader/s. Mr Geaney added that once obtaining the lead the gelding appeared to over-race. Jockey W D’Avila confirmed the instructions stating that whilst the gelding had been inclined to race keenly it travel comfortably throughout before commencing to tire passing the 800m. Stewards noted the explanations. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. A post-race blood sample was taken for analysis.
