QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT HOME HILL SATURDAY 29 OCTOBER 2022 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD (4) RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – D. McIntosh General: Stewards permitted the following weight variation at today’s meeting: Race 5LETS TORQUE A DEEL – App J DOOLAN (a) 56 (+1.0kg) – Non-claim event. Scratchings – Race 1 – 1 SPLASHER 5 SARANDOS Race 2 – 7 ZA ZA READY 10 READY MISTER MUSIC Race 3 – 2 ACTON VALE 9 SERENATA Race 5 – 4 SHADOW GODDESS 5 WISE DRAGON Race 1: Truenorth Equipment Hire Benchmark 65 Handicap 1000 metres. HIT SNOOZE – Progressedonto theheelsof the winner approaching the finishing lineand had to be checked. SHEEZ MARVELLOUS – Raced three wide throughout.Following the running of this race, Clerk of the Course Mr G Lee was dislodged from his mount in the horse stall area. A second Ambulance was called to transport Mr Lee to Hospital for further observation. No delay occurred to the starting time of Race 2. Race 2: Russell Reguson Memorial Benchmark 50 Handicap 1180 metres ARROGANT HEART - Raced wide throughout the event. DON’T DOUBT HINCHI – Shift in under pressure over the final 100 metres. MISHANI REBOUND – Raced wide till the 300 metres. Apprentice Jockey J Doolan was questioned regarding the riding tactics she adopted on the gelding in particular her tactics from the 600 metres to the home turn.Apprentice Doolan advised that she had been instructed to race in a forward position and had attempted to do so from the start before being caught in a three wide position until the 500 metres. She then stated that her mount dropped the bit and lost ground and she progressed to the rails. Mishani Rebound then commenced to race more keenly on the fence and ran home solidly.The explanation of Apprentice J Doolan was noted. Race 3: Hope Ya Joking Benchmark 50 Handicap 1180 metres FIVEACLOCKSOMEWHERE – Had to be steadied off the heels of the leader at the 1000m. Raced in restricted room approaching the 600m. LINE OF KINGS – Slow to begin. Had to be steadied off the heels of another runner when approaching the finishing line. Cast an offside hind plate during the event. SWAHILI MAI – Slow into stride. Race 4: Bill (Cody) Prizeman Memorial QTIS Maiden Plate 1460 metre The start of this event was delayed by 10 minutes due to an on-course patron requiring the attention of QAS paramedics. SEBROSSA – Slow to begin and raced wide from the 1200m. TEX’S GIRLS (NZ) – Finished a considerable distance behind the remainder of the field. Was inspected by the club veterinary surgeon who reported no abnormalities. TEX’S GIRLS (NZ) was stood down from racing until a satisfactory trial is performed to ensure the horse is competitive. Trainer N. Coves advised Stewards that he would not be progressing with the racing preparation of the mare. MISHANI CAPTIVE – Commenced to over race at the 1200m. Race 5:Country Cups Challenge Qualifier / Home Hill Cup Open Handicap 1460 metres LOVE ON SUNDAY- Commenced to over race at the 1300m and shifted out to a three wide position. LET’S TORQUE A DEEL – When in a challenging position,jumped a patch on the track at the 100m, almost dislodging App. J. Doolan.Following this event Stewards reinspected the track at that point and were satisfied with the safety of the track for further racing. OAKFIELD HIAWATHA – Commenced to compound from the 400m and finished a considerable distance behind the remainder of the field. Trainer J. Caught was questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding and he advised that he would be retiring the gelding from racing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be showing symptoms of colic. After the running of the final event (Race 6) OAKFIELD HIAWATHA collapsed and was found to be deceased when attended to by the veterinarian immediately after this incident. REDZEB – Slow to begin and raced ungenerously in the early stages. Race 6:Justin Scott Memorial Benchmark 60 Handicap 1830 metres. The declaration of correct weight was delayed following a request by Jockey B. Thomson who rode the 2nd placegetter (BATTLE) to view the photo finish print of this race. After Stewards, Jockey Thomson and connections viewed the photo finish print, the Judges’ placings were confirmed and correct weight was declared. JAKAZONE – Slowly away.
