STEWARDS REPORT BURDEKIN RACE CLUB SATURDAY 6 APRIL 2024 WEATHER – OvercastTRACK RATING – Soft 5: Downgraded to a Soft 6 after Race 1RAIL – True Entire CoursePENETROMETER – N/A OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – D. R5) GENERALNil Race 1: FLUFFY TAIL BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1460M SACRED LEGACY (NZ) – After racing below market expectations, a post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities. PROSPETTIVA (NZ) – Elected to shift wide to improve passing the 1000m and raced three wide thereafter. MARSHY – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Hung in over the concluding stages. RUN RAMPANT – Slow to begin. Raced wide with cover from the 1000m until the 500m. After the running of Race 1, the track was downgraded to a Soft 6 retrospectively. Race 2: HAPPY EASTER QTIS Maiden Plate 1000 M RUBIVILLE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities. HUNT THE HUNTER – Bumped with NOVEMBER FOAL on jumping. MR DOLLAR – Bumped with THE HIPPY on jumping. ZAZ IN PARIS – As jockey C. Spry was unable to make the allocated weight, stewards permitted the replacement rider to be apprentice jockey G. Semmens due to no other senior rider being available. Jockey C. Spry was reprimanded under the provisions of AR 190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. ZAZ IN PARIS refused to load and was declared a late scratching at 2:18PM. Stewards ordered that all bets on ZAZ IN PARIS be refunded with the following deductions to apply: 1st HOLD THE HUNTER 19c win, 16c place2nd GROVERS PREDICTION 20c place3rd MISS JABALI 20c place Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that ZAZ IN PARIS must obtain a barrier certificate prior to racing again. MISS JABALI – Shortly after the start, shifted in abruptly and hampered NOVEMBER FOAL. Raced three wide throughout. Inclined to lay in over the concluding stages. THE HIPPY – Bumped with MR DOLLAR on jumping. NOVEMBER FOAL – Bumped with HUNT THE HUNTER on jumping then hampered shortly after. Race 3: EASTER BUNNY OPEN Plate 1000 M HALLSIDE HAMMER – Laid in over the concluding stages. Race 4: CHOCOLATE EASTER EGGS BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1000 M SCHATZI – After leaving the enclosure, SCHATZI reversed into the enclosure fence and was examined by the veterinary surgeon and was passed fit to start. After leaving the enclosure on the second occasion, SCHATZI refused to proceed to the barriers and was declared a late scratching at 3:23PM. Stewards ordered that all bets on SCHATZI be refunded with the following deductions to apply: 1st SENSATIONABULL 16c win, 14c place2nd FAV’S FLYER 14c place3rd SMART THINKER 14c place Trainer J. Hatfield was advised that SCHATZI must trial satisfactorily prior to racing again. SMART THINKER – Raced wide for the majority. HOLLYWOOD DREAMING – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to an extended spell and was passed fit to start. SENSATIONABULL – Began awkwardly. ARROGANT HEART – Due to transport difficulties, was declared a late scratching at 1:10PM. FAV’S FLYER – Raced four wide for the majority. Shifted in and bumped SMART THINKER on two occasions over the concluding stages. Race 5: HOP HOP HOP BENCHMARK 45 Handicap 1180 M SEBROSSA – Contacted by JUST FRANK on jumping. FOGGY DEW – Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. PRIVATE SECTOR – Raced wide for the majority. JUST FRANK – Shifted in and contacted SEBROSSA. Race 6: BUNNY EARS QTIS Class 3 Plate 1180 M BOLD HUNTER – Checked at the start, then had to be restrained off the heels of OUT BACK BOOM. IMPOSING BEAU – Began awkwardly. TIOGA PASS – Shifted in abruptly on jumping checking BOLD HUNTER. Raced wide for the majority. Compounded over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer G Holt was advised not to start the TIOGA Pass until satisfied the gelding will perform in the desired manner. LINE OF KINGS – Began awkwardly.
