Race 1 – Hughenden Jockey Club QTIC Benchmark 50 Handicap 800m
 
MISS ESTER- Reared as the start was effected and lost significant ground. Trainer A Pateman was advised a warning would be placed on the filly’s barrier manners.
 
EXOTERICAL- Slowly away and was unable to muster pace throughout the event. Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination indicated a poor post-race recovery.  
 
OPPENHEIMER- Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
BORN TO FIRE- Wide the entirety.
 
WYCH MAGIC- Wide the entirety.
 
Race 2 – Hughenden Tyre Centre Benchmark 60 Handicap 1000m
 
AZTEC WARRIOR- Wide the entirety.
 
MOLONGLE MAGIC- Wide the entirety.
 
Race 3 – Hughenden Hotels Class B Handicap 1200m
 
ACEEM- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Shifted out abruptly rounding the 1000m turn and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Jockey R McMahon reported the gelding had difficulty negotiating the tight circuit and resented the kickback in running. Trainer T Parry was also of the opinion the gelding would be better suited to more spacious tracks.
 
PARK HUSSLER- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Jockey D Edmonds lost the use of his nearside iron passing the 150m and was unable to regain it prior to the winning post.
 
ROCK TSAR- Slow to begin.
 
SUNDAY PATROL- Reared as the start was effected and lost ground.
 
ONEMORE FOR WILSON- Bumped by another runner which shifted in on jumping.
 
NITRO CITY- Shifted in on jumping bumping another runner.
 
RATUNGA- Slow into stride.
 
SALTWATER SLEDGE- Shifted in abruptly passing the 100m and was quickly corrected. Commenced to race ungenerously thereafter and was unable to be ridden out. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer C Hampton was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
 
BOLLENTE- Jockey R Payne reported the gelding which performed below market expectations had raced flat today. Trainer’s representative C Hermann advised it was the intention to spell the gelding immediately.   
 
Race 4 – Flinders Shire Council Maiden Plate 1200m
 
VIAHEL- Difficult to load. Trainer D Smith was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners. Jockey S Mossman was cautioned in regard to his use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
FORTUNE FADED- Shifted out on jumping.

MR PALOMINO- Compounded over the concluding stages and finished tailed off.  
 
Race 5 – Hughenden Spar Supermarket Hughenden Cup Open Handicap 1200m
 
GALEA WARRIOR- Was a late scratching at 11.30am when Trainer R Burow was unable to get to the course due to travel difficulties.
 
MOLONGLE CHIEF- Jockey D Edmonds dropped his whip passing the 100m.
 
CRYSTAL BEAR- Jockey R Payne reported the saddle shifted on the gelding passing the 50m placing her at a disadvantage.
 
LEICA CELEBRE- Rider K Ballard pleaded guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a), in that near the 1000m he did permit his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of KAPSET (T Brummell) which had to be checked and was taken in resulting in UNDER THE WEATHER (R Hancock) having to be  restrained with both runners losing ground. Jockey Ballard’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days, to commence midnight July 20th 2019, and to expire at midnight July 27th  2019. Stewards deemed the incident to be in the low range and in assessing penalty noted Jockey Ballard’s exemplary record in relation to the rule as well as his guilty plea.
