QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT HUGHENDEN JOCKEY CLUB SATURDAY 17 JULY 2021 WEATHER – FINE TRACK – DIRT RAIL – IN TRUE POSITION OFFICIALS Stewards – P Lane, P WarrenClerk of Scales – StewardsJudges – A Wearing, D WestcottVeterinarian/Sample Collection Officer – Great Western Vet ServiceStarter – J GodfreyAssistant Starter – C Rodgers SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT Mt Isa Race Club Saturday July 10, 2021 Following inquiries, Stewards issued a fine in the sum of $200 to licensed Trainer Ms D Ballard after it was found Ms Ballard had been in breach of AR89(2), in that she had failed to report, within a reasonable timeframe, that the thoroughbred gelding, MEDIA VITA, which was in her care, was being treated for what could have been a notifiable condition. Ms Ballard was advised of her right to refer the matter to the Internal Reviewer. GENERAL Jockey J Babarovich was unable to attend today’s race meeting due to personal reasons. Replacements were made as per Stewards Race Day Summary. Race 1. HUGHENDEN JOCKEY CLUB MAIDEN PLATE 1000m CRAZY SUSPECT – Began awkwardly after being fractious in the barrier. Bumped with another runner on jumping. Inconvenienced near the 600m by another runner which shifted in marginally. KENDISSI – Fractious in the barrier. EL RANCHOS (NZ) – Slowly away. BOSSUKA – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Hung out rounding the home turn, shifting wider. Trainer D Smith was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners. NALSSENDORI – Jockey P Cullen advised the gelding had raced ungenerously in the middle stages due to resenting the kickback in running. LIVELY LASS – Raced greenly in the home straight. AGAINST THE ODDS – Bled from both nostrils in running. This being the 1st episode, Trainer M Geaney was advised that the gelding would not be permitted to start in any race for a period of 3 months, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000m in the presence of a Steward. Race 2. FLINDERS SHIRE CLASS B HANDICAP 1000m SHADFORTH LASS (NZ) – Stewards permitted Jockey R McMahon to ride the mare 0.5kg overweight. MESMER – Reluctant to load. Raced wide for the majority. Trainer S Royes was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners. SUPREME PRINCE – Slowly away. Tightened between runners soon after jumping, losing further ground. TICKET KEEPER – Shifted out soon after jumping, bumping with a runner to its outside, and becoming unbalanced as a result. BRAHMINY – Shifted in abruptly soon after jumping, inconveniencing a runner to its inside. DEVIL’S NUMBER – Inconvenienced when awkwardly placed between runners near the 800m. Jockey T Brummell was of the opinion the gelding would be better suited at distances longer than that of today’s event. MALLYUMKIN – Raced ungenerously in the middle stages. Raced wide for the majority. SHIVKHANI – Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. Race 3. CORFIELD TRANSPORT BM60 HANDICAP 1200m CATO – Jockey P Cullen reported his saddle shifted to the offside soon after jumping. POTAWATOMI – Unable to muster pace in the early stages. Made up some ground in the middle stages before finishing off fairly. Jockey R McMahon was of the opinion the gelding would be better suited at distances longer than that of today’s event. BACCHUR - Raced wide for the majority. TOWER ROAD (NZ) – Jockey J Felix reported the gelding, which raced wide for the majority, was never comfortable on the tight circuit, continually changing stride in running. Jockey Felix was also of the opinion the gelding would be better suited at distances longer than that of today’s event. Race 4. HUGHENDEN DR. SURGERY QTIS BM50 HANDICAP 1400m SOVIET – Slowly away. MYOLA MILLY – Slowly into stride after beginning awkwardly. NEW YORK POET - Slowly into stride. Raced wide for the majority. RED RED ROSE – Restrained after improving onto heels near the 450m. RICH PRINCESS - Raced wide for the majority. MURTALLICA - Raced wide for the majority. SMITHY’S HAMMER – Tired noticeably over the concluding stages. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 5. SPAR SUPERMARKET HUGHENDEN CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1400m BENCHI PEGASUS - Stewards permitted Jockey K Ballard to ride the gelding 0.5kg overweight. Slowly into stride. LUCKY FOR SOME – Slowly into stride. Raced wide for the majority. CHARLIE CAT - Raced wide for the majority. OKANAGAN MISS - Slowly into stride. Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure down the running.
