The following horses were withdrawn at 12 noon due to no available rider –

Race 1: HUGHENDEN FREIGHT & INDUSTRIAL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1000 metres


BITONTHESIDE – Hung out badly making the home turn and ran extremely wide. Trainer K McGovern was advised that a final warning was issued.

FLYING NED – Jumped akwardly and lost ground.

FORTIUS ALTIUS - Cast a near hind plate in running. Hung out badly making the home turn and ran extremely wide. Trainer Ms S Royes was advised that a final warning was issued and Ms Royes indicated that she would consider spelling FORTIUS ALTIUS. Jockey J Hoopert advised that he felt on returning to the saddling paddock that the gelding was showing signs of lameness in the near side foreleg. A post race veterinary examination revealed mild foot soreness.

LORD KENNY- Slow to begin.


Race 2: ED HONNERY BUILDING BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1000 metres

BURNT BUTTER – Hung in on jumping and continued to hang untill the 400 metres placing apprentice C Lowe at a disadvantage. Lost an off side hind plate in running. A post race veterinary examination revealed an injury to both hind bumpers and also that the gelding was showing signs of fatigue. A veterinary certificate of fitness will be required before BURNT BUTTER can race again.

NEW ARRIVAL – After hearing an explaination, Trainer S Royes was given permission to race without blinkers.

TACTICAL ILLUSION – Slipped on jumping and lost ground.

PLUMS AKIMBO – Hung out extremely wide making the home turn and Trainer R Simpson’s representative was advised that a warning was issued.

PRESSURE AND TIME – On entering onto the track PRESSURE AND TIME took control of its rider and was unable to be restrained. PRESSURE AND TIME completed a full lap of the track at pace. PRESSURE AND TIME was declared a late scratching at 1.40 p.m.

All monies invested on PRESSURE AND TIME were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 1.40 p.m:

8 cents in the dollar for the win
9 cents in the dollar for the place of winner
9 cents in the dollar for 2nd place
9 cents in the dollar for 3rd place

Bookmakers were advised to pay 1st , 2nd and third place on all bets made prior to 1.40 p.m.

A post-race veterinary examination of XXX PRESSURE AND TIME identified the presence of blood in both nostrils. PRESSURE AND TIME shall not without the permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse for a period of two months; (b) start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of at least 1,000 metres in the presence of a Steward. AR79(4)

RUSTY ROSE – Jumped in the air when the gates opened and lost ground.


Race 3: VIPER WATER SOLUTIONS BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1200 metres

FELONIOUS – Slow to begin and then raced three wide for the majority.

NEW YORK WORLD – Collided with DIWALI LIGHTS which jumped out abruptly at the start and had to be checked.

MOPAR – Difficult to load.

ZOROSSA – Difficult to load. Jockey D Smith dropped his off side rein at the 400 metres and was unable to retreave it until after passing the winning post.

DIWALI LIGHTS – Difficult to load. Shifted out at the start and bumped heavily with NEW YORK WORLD

Race 4: VIPER WATER SOLUTIONS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400 metres


LASTING PROMISE – Shifted out abruptly making the home turn forcing BADGE wider on the track. A warning was issued to the connections.

CLOGS – Checked at the start when crowded for room.

BADGE- Slow into stride and then raced 3 wide until the 500 metres. Checked when taken wide on the track at the 450 metres when LASTING PROMISE shifted out making the home turn.

JAKAZONE – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out.

FAR REACHING – Jumped in at the start and collided with CLOGS.


Race 5: PRAIRIE SERVICES PTY LTD – OPEN HANDICAP 1400M

ZOOMARATTA – Fractious in the barriers and delayed the start.

BITTERSWEET PLUCK - Raced wide in the early stages.

ONTHETAKE – Steadied at the 1300 metres when momentarily placed in restricted room.
