QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT ILFRACOMBE JOCKEY CLUB SATURDAY 13TH JULY 2024 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – DIRT RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Stewards – S Coulthard (Chair), K McCracken, P Anderson SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT Longreach 8th April 2024 –Race 3 - SAUNDERS ELECTRICS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200MStewards finalised an adjourned inquiry involving apprentice S McCann (CHECKERS) and apprentice T Townsend (FREDDIE EDDIE) regarding an incident near the 500m. After taking evidence from both riders and viewing the available replays, apprentice S McCann was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for allowing her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear to do so resulting in FREDDIE EDDIE being checked. In assessing the matter stewards were mindful that at the point of interference Miss McCann had attempted to correct her mount which was hanging in. Race 1: GBA CONSULTING ENGINEERS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1000m The start was delayed when BEANS BUDDY refused to load into the barriers and was declared a late scratching at 1.44pm. Trainer R Little was advised the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.Prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on BEANS BUDDY were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions to be applied to all successful wagers placed prior to 1:44pm: 1st POMPEY’S RULER – 8c in the dollar for the win.2nd CHICA HOTTIE 8c in the dollar for the place. Correct weight was delayed allowing the rider of second placegetter, apprentice K Lenton (CHICA HOTTIE) to view the photo finish image after being placed 2nd. After viewing the available images Ms Lenton was satisfied with the judge’s placings and correct weight was declared on the semaphored numbers. POMPEY'S VALOUR – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. MARBLE ANGEL – Approaching the 800m, shifted in to avoid heels when the filly was proving difficult to ride. Approaching the 600m whilst racing greenly, put in an awkward stride resulting in the filly contacting the inside running rail, after this incident the filly was eased down and took no further competitive part in the race. Trainer, H Forster was advised a warning would be placed on the filly for her racing manners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. SUNFYR – Late scratching by order of stewards at 12pm due to no available rider. Race 2: MOORE CIVIL & PLANT HIRE BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000m Correct weight was delayed allowing riders E Bell (FREDDIE EDDIE) and apprentice S McCann (VALIANT JOAN) to view the official photo for the declared dead-heat finish for 2nd between FREDDIE EDDIE and VALIANT JOAN. After viewing the available images both riders were satisfied with the judge’s placings and correct weight was declared on the semaphored numbers. HIGHGROUND – Trainer, R Williams was reprimanded under LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider. When considering penalty stewards took into consideration Mr William’s clean record under this rule and guilty plea. SHARPAY RULER – Fractious prior to jumping, as a result was slow to begin. FREDDIE EDDIE – Raced wide early and middle stages. Race 3: RAYNER'S CRANE HIRE CLASS B HANDICAP 1200m DEN END – Jumped awkwardly, as a result was slow to begin. CROWN REACH – Over-raced in the early stages. HEDON'TWANTME – Apprentice S McCann stated that her mount had resented the kickback and therefore she opted to ease the gelding down from the 550m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. TRANSITION – Raced wide early and middle stages. Jockey, R Faehr reported he felt his mount resented the kickback and firmer surface resulting in the mare failing to stride out fully to the line. Race 4: DARKIE AND PAT SAUNDERS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1400m BIONIC – Slow to begin. ZIPPING IRISH – Raced wide throughout. Approaching the 100m was momentarily inconvenience when WINTILLY laid out under pressure. VILA TINTO – Raced wide throughout. WINTILLY – Slow to begin. Laid out under pressure approaching the 100m momentarily hampering ZIPPING IRISH. HOT ROD JACK – Over-raced early. Raced wide throughout. IMPACTFUL - Late scratching by order of stewards at 12pm due to no available rider. Race 5: COUNSELL FAMILY WILLOWIE CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1400m STAMPEDE WARRIOR – Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout. Jockey, R Faehr reported he lost his whip at the 1300m which placed him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race as the gelding could not be fully tested to the line.
