HERBERT RIVER JOCKEY CLUB STEWARDS REPORT SATURDAY 06/09/03

STEWARDS PANEL: P COOPER (Chairman), W Bethel

WEATHER – Fine TRACK:-Good RAIL – True

RACE 1: MAIDEN PLATE - 1400 Metres – 9 Starters
CADENCE (L.Nelson) was a late scratching by order of the Stewards when the horse failed to arrive on course.
No incidents in running.

RACE 2: OPEN HANDICAP – 1400 Metres – 8 Starters
BRASSED (A.Cox) jumped into the side of the barrier position as the start was effected, this resulted in the horse losing ground at the start.
Jockey Cox advised the Stewards that he did not sustain any injuries in the incident.

RACE 3: CLASS B HANDICAP – 1400 Metres – 10 Starters
Jockey S.Morris was the replacement rider for DANTE DIVINE, as the declared rider Jockey J.Dickinson was indisposed.
CANADIAN PRINCE (G.Kliese) was steadied momentarily at the 600mtr mark. Jockey Kowald reported to the Stewards that his mount ERRATUM hung outwards through out the event, resulting in him being placed in difficulty to ride his mount out over the concluding stages of the event.

RACE 4: CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1100 Metres – 10 Starters
The starting time of this event was delayed when it was established that the barriers were in the incorrect position, namely the1100mtr mark.
At the 700mtr mark ANELLO (App G.Porter) shifted inwards marginally which hampered the running of OPPOSER (App K.Penrose).
SANDTILLEY (S.Simon) was disappointed for a clear run at the 600mtr mark.

RACE 5: CLASS 4 PLATE – 1900 Metres – 10 Starters
RANGEHILL was a late scratching by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice, prior to the declaration of correct weight deductions were given at a rate of 7cents in the dollar for the win portion of the bet and 8cents in the dollar for the place portion of the bet.
CHINA CLASSIC (S.Simon) raced very greenly through out the event.
