Captain’s Way – Jockey B Thomson was fined the sum of $100 for excessive whip use prior to the 100m under the provisions of AR 132(7). When questioned in relation to the seemingly improved performance Trainer Ms J Doolan advised it was the plan today to have the gelding ridden more aggressively than normal in the early and middle stages in an effort to be within striking distance of the leaders at the 600m. Ms Doolan further advised that the gelding’s work in recent weeks had pleased her and although she was confident of a forward showing the stable had not supported the gelding. Stewards noted the explanation but nonetheless advised Ms Doolan of her responsibility pre-race to disclose any significant change of tactics.
Danz The Man - Jockey G Watson was fined the sum of $100 for excessive whip use prior to the 100m under the provisions of AR 132(7).
