SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

Prior to this meeting Stewards established that a clerical error had been made in the allocation of weight to BLUBYTWO and SEALEGS LILLY (Race 1). Therefore, acting under the provisions of AR.111A the allocated weight for this meeting was amended to 57.5 kilograms from 58.5 kilograms for both of these runners.

Stewards were advised by Trainer Mr W. Baker that he was unable to locate a rider for his horses GUSTAVUS VASSA and MISS BONNIE in Race 1. Stewards subsequently declared both horses late scratchings at 1.13am due to no rider being available.

Stewards were advised by Trainer Ms C. Wall that she was unable to locate a rider for her horse CRAWS in Race 2. Stewards subsequently declared the horse a late scratching at 11.26am due to no rider being available.

Stewards were advised by Apprentice Jockey T. Germaine that he was able to claim 2.5 kilograms of his allotted 3.0 kilogram claim in Race 1 and Race 3. Stewards accepted Apprentice Jockey Germaine’s explanation and took no further action in relation to this matter.

Race 1: ELDERS/ WILLIAMS HALL CHADWICK QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1000M

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow stewards hear a submission from trainer W. Baker and Jockey T. Banks to have SPURTING COLOURS declared a non-runner as its barrier did not open with the field. Stewards heard the application and after viewing the patrol film available to them established the barrier of SPURTING COLOURS did not open with the remainder of the field and it was the opinion of stewards the horse was not afforded a fair start. The horse was subsequently declared a non-runner and correct weight was then declared with the following deductions applicable:

Win - 7c, Place - 18c
2nd Place - 18c
3rd Place - 18c.

AMADEUS LAD - Began awkwardly and was bumped by another runner shortly after the start.

BLUBYTWO - Travelled wide during the early and middle stages of this event. Over the concluding stages of the race the mare shifted in when under pressure.

SEALEGS LILLY - Slow to begin.

ELLIES JOY - Slowly away.

LOCA DA VISTA - Jumped in and made contact with another runner at the start. Travelled wide throughout.

Race 2: IOR PETROLEUM BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP CLASS 2 1000M

The start of this race was delayed when FERRIGNO was unable to be loaded and declared a late scratching by stewards at 1.42pm. Trainer Ms C. Rogers was advised a warning would be place on the horse.

Correct weight was delayed to allow stewards to hear an application from Trainer Mr R. Meek that COURTMAN be declared a non-runner. After hearing the application from Mr R. Meek and Jockey T. Banks, stewards then viewed the patrol film available to them and under AR 134A declared the horse a non-runner as its barrier had not opened and therefore, it had been denied a fair start. Correct weight was declared with the following deductions to apply after the withdrawal of COURTMAN and FERRIGNO:

Win - 0, Place - 22c
2nd Place - 17c
3rd Place - 12c

After consultation with the Starter Stewards advised all parties that barrier 3 would not be used for the remainder of the program.

STITCHEN TIME - Hung out during the early stages of the event.

THAT’S THE PLAN - Bumped by another runner at the start.

DAIQUIRI BELLE - Jumped in and made contact with another runner at the start.

NOOR DROPPER - Trainer W. Baker and the rider Appr. Ms J. Brand were qeustioned in relation to the poor performance of the mare in this event. Mr Baker stated that he was disappointed with the horse’s run and it was his opinion the horse did not handle the track today. App. Brand advised Stewards she felt the horse was not travelling well during the majority of the race and failed to improve despite her efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Mr Baker stated that he would advise stewards should the mare show any signs of lameness in coming days.

FIELDS OF OXLEY - Trainer S. McEwan and the Jockey P.Romeo were questioned regarding the poor performance of the horse. Jockey Romeo stated the horse travelled well up until the 400 metre point. When he asked the horse for an effort, it failed to improve. Ms McEwan advised she was disappointed with the run and thought the horse wasn’t suited to the surface here at today’s meeting. She unertook to advise stewards if anthing that may have affected the horse's performance came to light in coming days. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
