General:
As Jockey M Abe was unable to ride at today’s meeting due to illness, Apprentice E Cass due to injury and Jockey K Rockett due to personal reasons substitutions were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Jockey Abe and Apprentice Cass were advised a medical clearance would be required prior to again riding in a race.
 
RACE 1: Vandeleur & Todd Maiden Plate 900M
1st – EIGHTH KEEPER         2nd – LEIGHWAY       3rd – WILL HE TORQUE       4th – BE WHY OH
 
VIENNA GEM – Had to be resaddled behind the barriers. Raced wide in the middle  stages of the race.
 
WILD AZ WILL – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
VEGANER – Difficult to load. Raced wide in the middle stages of the race.
 
HILL DAGONDA – Raced greenly over the final 100m.
 
WILL HE TORQUE – Bumped heavily with another runner approaching the winning post.
 
LEIGHWAY – Bumped heavily with another runner approaching the winning post.
 
PURE FETISH – Shifted in and became awkward when joining the course proper. Inclined to hang in throughout.
 
INVERNESS EXPRESS – Cast its off hind plate in the running.
RACE 2: Costa Group QTIS Class 2 Handicap 900M
1st – HELOW TUCKER        2nd – OAKFIELD AVENGER           3rd - CHEERING       4th – LITTLE RED ROCKET
 
FALSE ALARM – Was reluctant to proceed out of the mounting yard. Trainer Mrs L McCormack was advised a warning would be put on the mares prerace manners.
 
LITTLE RED ROCKET – Slow to begin.
 
HELOW TUCKER – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
OURBOYBYRON – Raced wide in the middle stages of the race.
 
SNITZEL ROSE – Stewards opened an inquiry into the reasons SNITZEL ROSE  blundered and fell dislodging its rider J Felix near the 200m. After taking initial evidence from riders and Stewards observations the matter was adjourned to a date and time to be fixed to allow Jockey Felix to be present at the inquiry. J Felix was transported to hospital for further assessment and observation. A veterinary examination of SNITZEL ROSE revealed no significant findings.
 
SYNFUL – Underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained a wound to the left hind hock. Trainer Ms C Lindgren was advised a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to the mare again starting in a race.
 
ORCHARD – Became unbalanced leaving the 700m. Passing the 150m had to be checked when another runner shifted in when not clear. Restrained off heels over the final 50m and as a result went to the line without being fully tested.
 
Jockey S Wilson was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a), the careless riding being that near the 100m he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of ORCHARD (G Kliese) which had to checked and lose its rightful running. Jockey Wilson licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence midnight 7th January 2017 and to expire on midnight 15th January 2017 (8 days). In assessing penalty Stewards considered his not guilty plea, good record, the degree of carelessness and interference and the penalty was mitigated accordingly.
 
RACE 3:Happy Birthday “Skye Rainford” Benchmark 60 Handicap 1100M  
1st – DAZZLUNA       2nd – BON TEMPS     3rd – STIEG    4th – LADY FOXY
 
SPIRITED SAINT – Slow to begin.
 
SCHNELLES PFERD – Shifted out at the start bumping another runner.
 
OUR LITTLE MIRACLE – Bumped at the start.
 
HI MACKAY – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
CALDANE – Raced wide throughout.
 
STIEG – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice dropped her whip passing the 200m.
 
 
RACE 4: LMB Farming Class B Handicap 1200M
1st – DIAMONDNET  2nd – WOLF CREEK  3rd – SHE’S A RINGO           4th – PARTY PIES
 
Stewards permitted the replacement of Apprentice E Cass with senior rider Jockey S Kaya as the rider of WOLF CREEK.
 
Jockey B Thomson was substituted as the rider of RAINING DOLLARS after Jockey J Felix was injured in Race 2.
 
SHE’S A RINGO – Broke through the front of the barriers and was quickly restrained, underwent a veterinary examination and was declared fit to take its place in the field. Jumped out at the start. Had to be continually restrained from heels through the middle stages. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until the final 100m. Inconvenienced by another runner which shifted in abruptly passing the winning post.
 
GANGSTER SQUAD – Slow to begin.
 
RAINING DOLLARS – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the middle stages.
 
WOLF CREEK – Shifted in abruptly passing the winning post inconveniencing another runner.
 
CORDIALE – Raced wide throughout.
 
DIAMONDNET – Underwent a post race veterinary examination after displaying abnormal respiratory noises. The gelding was found to have nasal discharge and a cough. Trainer Ms S Molino was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding again starting in a race.
 
RACE 5: Blenners Transport Benchmark 50 Handicap 1500M
1st – LEGENDARY PLUME  2nd – VEE EIGHT SIXTY       3rd – PHANTOM SOX             4th – MAINSHAFT
 
ZEDAHEEL – Difficult to load. Raced in restricted room for a short distance after the start.
 
CARACAS – Slow to begin.
