QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT INNISFAIL TURF CLUB – 18th FEBRUARY 2017 WEATHER – OVERCAST TRACK RATING – SOFT 7/SOFT 6 AFTER RACE 1 RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – Mr P Lane Stewards – Mr P GillardBetting Steward – StewardsClerk of Scales – Mr C Gordon Judge – Mr B Harrison, Mr V Cooper Veterinarian – Tableland Vet ServiceSwab Attendants – Mr D Zahmel Bookmakers Supervisor – Mr C Barba Starter – Mr R Gardner Race 1: PEASE PARK BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP -1100M HYDRIVE – Blundered at start. STIEG – Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping another runner and losing ground. SCHNELLES PFERD – Shifted in and away from another runner near the 1000 metres then hung in for a short distance inconveniencing another runner. Became unbalanced under hard riding near the 200 metres. A post-race veterinary examination of the SCHNELLE’S PFERD revealed lameness in the near fore fetlock. Trainer Mr. F Wieland was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding’s next race start. DAZZLUNA – Inconvenienced near the 1000 metres and lost ground. Jockey B. Thomson was reprimanded in that she used her whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100 metres. BON TEMPS – Raced ungenerously in the early stages of the race. Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to a Soft 6. Race 2: LIKE US ON FACEBOOK MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M OUR UNIVERSAL STAR – Began very awkwardly and threw its head in the air on jumping. CHATEAU JOLIE – Made the 700 metres turn awkwardly. GROHL – Steadied off heels near the 900 metres. Trainer Mr. G Strickland will be advised that he will issued with a $100 fine pending any further submission in that he failed to adhere to Stewards directive and have HOTEL HILLTOP in its designated area on the racecourse 1 hour before the appointed race start time as required under the provisions of LR30. Race 3: BACKPACKER SHACK BENCHMARK 50 H’CAP – 1200M DEE MINISHING – Stood flat-footed and lost considerable ground. Trainer Mr. M Whitehouse was advised that the mare must obtain two (2) consecutive barrier certificates prior to being permitted to race again. Checked near the 100 metres and again near the 50 metres to avoid heels. SHORT TERM – Fractious in the barrier prior to the start striking jockey S. Wilson in the face. Following this race Jockey S. Wilson was stood down by the on course paramedics. Jockey Wilson was advised that he must provide a medical clearance and successfully complete a concussion test prior to his next race ride. NIC’S DRAGON – Shifted out abruptly soon after the start inconveniencing runners to its outside. TERRASAURUS – Inconvenienced by another runner which shifted out soon after the start. RED SHAWL - Inconvenienced by another runner which had been forced outwards soon after the start. WOLF CREEK - Inconvenienced by another runner which had been forced outwards soon after the start. MONSOON TWISTER - Inconvenienced by another runner which had been forced outwards soon after the start. Apprentice N Nelson pleaded guilty to two charges of careless riding in that near the 100 metres she permitted her mount to shift in under riding when insufficiently clear of DEE MINISHING (Ms. B Thomson) which had to be checked and alter course to the outside of MONSOON TWISTER’S heels, and further, that near the 50 metres she permitted her mount to shift out under riding when insufficiently clear of DEE MINISHING (Ms. B Thomson) which had to be restrained and alter course to the inside of MONSOONS TWISTER’S heels. Ms. Nelson’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 12 days on first charge to commence at midnight 18/02/2017 and to expire at midnight 2/03/2017. On the second charge Ms. Nelson’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence at midnight 18/02/2017 and to expire at midnight 28/02/2017. Both suspensions were ordered to be served concurrently. Race 4: NEXT ITC RACES 8TH APRIL BENCHMARK 55 H’CAP – 1500M P Cullen replaced the injured S Wilson as the rider of FYING IGGY in this event. SPIRITED SAINT – Began very awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide in the early and middle stages of the race. CASHED UP BULLY – Slow to begin.
