Jockey P Cullen the rider of second placegetter MINNIE STREET requested to view the available films to see if he had grounds to lodge an objection against RAPT IN RUMBA being declared the winner alleging interference over the concluding stages, after viewing the available films he elected not to proceed with a protest. Stewards declared RENEGADE RUBY a late scratching at 8.30am when no rider was available.

On returning to scale Jockey N Yadi, the rider of SHE’S A RINGO which finished 3rd, lodged an objection against NYMBOI (Apprentice N Nelson) being declared the winner, alleging interference over the final 50m. After hearing evidence from the parties involved and viewing the official race film, stewards established that SHE’S A RINGO shifted in abruptly making heavy contact with NYMBOI’S hindquarters and causing that horse to become unbalanced for a few strides and marginally shift out again making contact with SHE’S A RINGO. Bearing in mind the margin of half a length and that the interference was initiated by Jockey N Yadi Stewards dismissed the protest and Correct Weight was declared on the semaphored numbers.

CHIC SOX – Shifted in at the start bumping another runner.

NYMBOI – Bumped by another runner shortly after the start. Bumped at the 200 metres. Bumped heavily passing the 50 metres and became unbalanced for a short distance.

SHE’S A RINGO – Shifted in and made contact with another runner at the 200 metres. Shifted in again passing the 50 metres making heavy contact with another runner. Jockey N Yadi was issued with a reprimand under AR137(a) for failing to make sufficient effort to keep his mount straight.

VEE EIGHT SIXTY – Compounded badly over the final 400 metres. Upon return to the mounting yard it was found that the gelding had bled from both nostrils. Under AR53A Stewards advised trainer Ms C Lindgren that the gelding would now incur a mandatory 3 month bar from racing, and only after a satisfactory gallop of 1000 metres in the presence of Stewards be permitted to race again.
