When returning to scale Jockey F. Edwards the rider of NEAR THE CITY, which was placed 4th, lodged an objection against CASHED UP BULLY ridden by J. Lambie, which was placed 3rd, alleging interference near the 300m. After hearing evidence from all parties and viewing the official stewards patrol film it was established that CASHED UP BULLY shifted outwards marginally when racing forward and to the inside of NEAR THE CITY, when IRISH HEART, which was racing to the outside, commenced to lay inwards despite the efforts of its rider, tightening the running of IRISH HEART and CONCRETUS resulting in both of those runners being checked. As stewards could not contribute blame to any one rider for this incident stewards dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the semaphored numbers. J. Lambie the rider of CASHED UP BULLY was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
