QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT INNISFAIL TURF CLUB – SATURDAY 16th JUNE 2018 WEATHER – OVERCAST TRACK – GOOD 4 RAIL – IN TRUE POSTION OFFICIALSStewards – P Lane, P WarrenStarter – R GardnerClerk of Scales – C GordonJudges – V Cooper, H WarrenVeterinarian – S Williams Swab Attendant – D Zahmel Race 1: MIDWAY BUTCHERS CLASS B HANDICAP 1000m TAPTHETILL was a late withdrawal by order of Stewards at 1.18pm after refusing to proceed to the start. Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on the gelding be refunded in full, and further, that all successful wagers placed on the event be subject to deductions of 23 cents in the dollar win and 18 cents in the dollar place on the face value of the betting ticket. Trainer Mr. S Potiris was advised that TAPTHETILL would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race. NORTHERN REVENGE – Fractious in the barrier. Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. Had to be restrained after improving onto heels near the 1000m. Was held up for a short distance when disappointed for clear running near the 200m. Jockey S Wilson who rode SAMBA RIO which dead-heated for 2nd placing with EVERY FRIDAY (App. Ms. R Shred) lodged an objection against that runner alleging interference near the 250m. After hearing submissions from both parties and viewing the available patrol footage Stewards established that EVERY FRIDAY, despite the efforts of App. Shred, had shifted in at that point, bumping with SAMBA RIO which became unbalanced and was taken in bumping with INDELICACY (P Cullen). Given that the Judge had been unable to separate the 2 runners at the finish, and in the opinion of Stewards SAMBA RIO had lost momentum in the incident, Jockey Wilson’s objection was upheld and the placings altered with SAMBA RIO being placed 2nd and EVERY FRIDAY being placed third.
