GENERAL
As W D’Avila was unable to ride at today’s race meeting due to injuries sustained at Townsville on Thursday 16th August 2018, replacement riders were engaged as per Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
 
Race 1: AUSTRALIAN BANANAS/HORTICULTURE INNOVATION RATINGS BAND 0-55 HANDICAP 1000m
 
OUT OF THE BLUE – Slowly away. Inclined to shift ground under pressure approaching the winning post.
 
METAZOA - Slowly away. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running.
 
FLAMIN’ SID - Slowly away. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running.
 
COLLAR’S UP – Inclined to race ungenerously for a short distance approaching the 400m.
 
Race 2: JAT TRANSPORT/ORORA FIBRE PACKAGING QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200m
 
LINNET MOON – Slowly away. Shifted out marginally near the 900m slightly inconveniencing another runner.
 
FRED’S GIFT – Slowly away. Had to be restrained when racing in restricted room near the 800m.
 
VIVI GRANDA – Slowly away.
 
TURF GLORY – Jumped inwards at the start bumping with another runner. Was slightly inconvenienced near the 900m by another runner which shifted out marginally. Rider K Stone reported the gelding raced ungenerously for the majority placing him at a disadvantage. Trainer Mr. S Massingham was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
 
DAESY DANORO - Jumped inwards at the start bumping with another runner.
 
ALPINE MAGIC – Was bumped by another runner on jumping.
 
MISS CELITA – Rider Ms. C Jokic reported the mare raced greenly for the majority placing her at a disadvantage. Trainer Mr. F Wieland was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s racing manners.
 
MICK’S DREAM - Rider P Cullen reported the gelding raced ungenerously for the majority placing him at a disadvantage. Trainer Mr. T Rowe was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
 
Race 3: BLENNERS TRANSPORT/COSTA BANANAS CLASS B HANDICAP 1200m
 
On returning to scale Jockey S Wilson made application to have LOVE ME RUBY declared a non-runner due to the mare’s barrier gates not opening simultaneously with those of the other runners. Head-on patrol footage confirmed that the mare had been denied a fair start and Stewards acting under the provisions of AR134A declared LOVE ME RUBY a non-runner at 2.40pm. Prior to the declaration of Correct Weight Stewards ordered  that all monies wagered on LOVE ME RUBY be refunded in full, and further that all successful wagers placed on the event be subject to deductions of 9 cents in the dollar win and 10 cents in the dollar place on the face value of the betting ticket. 
 
REDWISKA – Jumped outwards at the start. Raced wide for the majority. The gelding which raced below market expectations was examined by the Veterinarian and found to have a poor post-race recovery.
 
SAID WRITTEN – Jumped inwards at the start tightening a runner to its inside.
 
IN KOBE – Was tightened between runners on jumping. Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
TAPTHETILL – Was reluctant to proceed to the start. Trainer Mr. S Potiris was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s pre-race manners. Had to be steadied off heels near the 1000m.
 
RANGERZANE – Was hampered near the 500m when racing tight to the inside of another runner which shifted in marginally.
 
LEIGHWAY – Shifted in marginally near the 500m hampering another runner. Jockey P Cullen was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a).
 
ROCKING MY WORLD – Raced wide for the majority. Was inclined to lay in under pressure down the running.
 
MISPRINT – The gelding which was tailed off was inspected by the Veterinarian and no abnormalities were detected. Jockey K Stone was of the opinion the gelding had struggled under today’s heavy impost and would also be better suited at distances longer than that of today’s race.
 
Race 4: LAMANNA PREMIER GROUP BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200m
 
GRAVETTIAN – Raced wide for the majority.
 
GLOBAL ROCKET – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
FLYING ONE MORE – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
Race 5: MACKAY’S MARKETING BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1500m
 
SOUND INVESTMENT – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. Shifted in when being restrained off heels approaching the winning post placing another runner in restricted room. Jockey Ms. C Jokic was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
CUT ‘N’ POLISH – Slowly away.
 
PRESIDENTIAL JOY – Was inclined to over-race passing the 1000m.
 
EKSPRESS KING – Raced wide for the majority.
 
LUVYA BEAK – Raced wide for the majority.
 
CENTENARIO – Had to be restrained when placed in restricted room by another runner which shifted in approaching the winning post.
 
MAGNUS RULES – Was found post-race to have jarred up and was lame in both forelegs. Trainer Ms. J Hassett was advised a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to the mare being permitted to again start in a race.
 
ARMS RACE – Jockey K Stone was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR137A(5)(a)(ii)  for excessive whip use prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account Jockey Stone’s good recent record in relation to the rule.
 
Race 6: NUTRANO PRODUCE CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1800m
 
VINNIE THE WOLF – Broke through the barrier gates soon after being loaded and was quickly restrained. Prior to being re-loaded was inspected by the Veterinarian and cleared to start.
 
TRY ME DOL – Slowly into stride. Raced wide for the majority.
 
THE PRINCIPAL – Slowly into stride. Raced wide for the majority.
 
HOW CAN I HELP – Was inclined to over-race in the early stages. Shifted in near the 1600m crowding runners to its inside. Jockey F Edwards was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a).
 
BARWON – Was hampered when crowded for room near the 1600m. Raced wide rounding the first turn.
 
RAMSDEN STREET – Was hampered when crowded for room near the 1600m. Raced wide in the middle stages.
 
ROYAL SUPREME – Was inclined to over-race in the early stages.
 
GREAT PRETENDER – Raced wide for the majority.
