On-course patrons were notified of this error via public address. Townsville December 6th 2018Stewards today inquired into the reason Jockey M Abe had in his possession a mobile phone in the Jockeys Room. After hearing evidence and having the phone’s usage investigated it was established that all calls made and text messages sent on the day were not racing related. Jockey Abe pleaded guilty to a charge under AR160B(3) in that he did have in his possession and used a mobile phone in the Jockeys Room and was subsequently fined the sum of $300.00. Race 1: INNISFAIL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE QTIS CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1000m GENERAL SIDEREUS – Shifted out abruptly on jumping hampering runners to its outside. SNOOZE YA LOSE – Was hampered by another runner which shifted out abruptly on jumping. SHUNTER – Was hampered by another runner which shifted out abruptly on jumping. Raced ungenerously for a short distance near the 750m. BLAZON TALES - Was hampered by another runner which shifted out abruptly on jumping.. Was restrained after improving onto heels near the 800m. NORTHERN REVENGE – Was slowly away. Raced wide for the majority. STARENA – Had to be restrained after commencing to over-race near the 700m. Raced wide for the majority. FLINDERS HIGHWAY - Raced wide for the majority. Following the running of this race the Track Rating was upgraded to a Soft 5. Race 2: RADIO 4KZ MAIDEN PLATE 1100m WILLIWIN SOME – Reluctant to load. Raced wide for the majority. LINNET MOON - Reluctant to load. Raced wide for the majority. Jockey S Wilson who on returning to scale reported he had sustained an injury to his lower right leg in the barriers was stood down for the remainder of the race meeting and transported to Innisfail Base Hospital for further observation which subsequently revealed severe bruising. Replacement riders were engaged as per Stewards Race Day Summary. TRILBY – The gelding which was having its 1st race start lost ground after beginning awkwardly and finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. DESERT FOX – The gelding was inspected by the Veterinarian post-race and was found to have sustained an injury to its off fore tendon. Trainer Mr. M Jokic advised Stewards it is the intention that DESERT FOX be retired immediately. Nonetheless Mr. Jokic was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding beind again permitted to start in a race. Race 3: KOOL FM BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1200m SUPAMETEOR – Was slowly away. Shifted wider near the 200m to obtain clear running. Laid in under pressure approaching the winning post. VOLTAIC – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority. MBWALI – Raced ungenerously in the middle stages. FAST SUN - Raced wide for the majority. AHEARN - The gelding was inspected by the Veterinarian post-race and was found to have a slow post-race recovery. Trainer Mr. S Cooper advised Stewards the gelding would now be freshened up prior to its next race start. Race 4: RADIO 4AM OPEN HANDICAP 1200m BOLD KINGSTON – Was slowly away. ROAD FOX - Was slowly away. CRAIGLEA ALDI – Raced wide for the majority. NO BITING – Jockey M Kai reported that his saddle had shifted to the near side passing the 800m placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event. Race 5: HAPPY NEW YEAR BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1500m RATHDOWNEY AVENUE - Was slowly away. Was restrained after improving onto heels near the 800m. BUNDY BOY- Following today’s poor performance Trainer Mr. T Rowe advised Stewards consideration would be given to retiring the gelding in coming days. Jockey N Yadi was fined the sum of $200.00 for excessive use of the whip on SYDNEY HARBOUR prior to the 100m.
