QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT INNISFAIL TURF CLUB INC SATURDAY 16 OCTOBER 2021 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD (3) RAIL – TRUE PENETROMETER – N/A OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P. GillardStewards – F. Hartford, S. Coulthard Clerk of Scales – B. Gray Judge – A. BallardVeterinarian – Tableland Veterinary Service Swab Attendants – Tableland Veterinary Services Starter – B. Brady Race 1: CUMIC STEEL / CAIRNS HARDWARE BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP – 900 Metres The start of this race was significantly delayed due to the late arrival of the of the ambulance on course. Correct weight was delayed when jockeys D. Smith (KARBORS) and S. Sheargold (FILLY SLATER) requested to view the stewards patrol footage to ascertain if they were afforded a fair start. After viewing the available shots neither rider wished to proceed. DANGERFIELD – Began awkwardly and shifted inwards causing rider S. Wilson to strike his right elbow on the barrier petition. SUNSHINES – Restrained near the 350 metres to avoid the heels of BE FAMOUS which shifted in.PARIS IN MAY – Restrained near the 350 metres to avoid the heels of BE FAMOUS which shifted in. BE FAMOUS – Shifted in near the 350 metres when not fully clear of runners to its inside. Rider M. Abe was severely reprimanded and advised to be fully clear when shifting ground in similar circumstance. FILLY SLATER – On jumping the near side barrier gate rebounded, slightly hampering the mare. This matter was brought to attention of the starter. Raced wide for the majority of the race. KARBORS – Raced wide for the majority of the race. MISS CLAIR –A post-race veterinary examination of the mare identified the presence of blood in both nostrils. MISS CLAIR shall not without the permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse for a period of two months; (b) start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of at least 1,000 metres in the presence of a Steward. AR79(4) Race 2: CENTURY CRANES / BOQ BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 900 Metres Prior the horses arriving at the barriers, the barrier gates were tested and worked in a satisfactory manner. GALAXY GHOST – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the race.CADENCE – Raced four wide without cover for the majority of the race. WATCHMEN – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in near foreleg, having bruising to its sole and hoof. Trainer B. Thomson was advised she must obtain a veterinary clearance of soundness for WATCHMEN prior to its next trial or race start. Race 3: BROTHERS LEAGUE CLUB QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1100 Metres REBEL REIGN – Reluctant to proceed onto the course proper and then was reluctant to return to the enclosure. Trainer A. Holmes was advised that a warning would placed on the geldings pre and post-race manners. SHAMARCHIE – Slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover for the majority not the race. BETTER THAN THAT – Improved onto heels near the 700 metres and was steadied. REDENZO ROMAN – Lost its near side winker during the race. Race 4: QMAC MACHINERY CLASS B HANDICAP – 1200 Metres Correct weight was delayed to allow S. Wilson, rider of the second (LET’S CONQUER) to view the judges decision of OUR SISTER SAL (S. Pawsey) being declared the winner. After viewing the photo finish image S. Wilson accepted the judge’s decision. FIRST SLIP – Trainer A. Bailey was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR106(1) in that he presented that runner with out its advertised gear of a tongue tie. BEAUTIFUL TUNE –Delayed the start after rider J. Lyons requested a veterinary examination of the filly after arriving at the barriers. A veterinary examination revealed BEAUTIFUL TUNE to be lame in the near fore and near hind legs and as such was declared a late scratching at 3.00pm by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on BEAUTIFUL TUNE was ordered to be refunded with deductions of 23 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 18 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets to be applicable. Trainer B. Thomson was advised she must obtain a veterinary certificate of soundness for BEAUTIFUL TUNE prior to its next trial or race start. MY SISTER SAL – Began awkwardly and shifted in on jumping, bumping with SOUL SEARCHER which jumped outwards. SOUL SEARCHER – Jumped outwards at the start bumping with MY SISTER SAL.LET'S CONQUER – Shifted wider leaving the 600 metres to improve. WAR SINGA – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have injured its off fore tendon. Trainer P. Rowewas advised he must obtain a veterinary clearance of soundness for WAR SINGA prior to its next trial or race start. Race 5:CANADIAN CLUB JOHNSTONE RIVER OPEN HANDICAP – 1200 Metres Correct weight was delayed to allow K. Swaffer, rider of the second placegetter (SIMPLY SPLASHING) to view the judge’s decision of VALIDAR (A. Thomson) being declared the winner. After viewing the photo finish image K. Swaffer accepted the judge’s decision. SIMPLY SPLASHING – Slow to begin.DANAWI – Tightened for room on jumping, buffeted between runners and lost ground. RUBY JULY – Blundered on jumping. Clipped heels and blundered on two occasions near the 700 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to its near foreleg and off hind pastern and coronet. OUR CHIQUILLA – JockeyS. Wilson was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that he permitted that runner to shift and tighten the running of RUBY TUESDAY which clipped OUR CHIQUILLA’S heels and blundered on two occasions near the 700 metres. Jockey S. Wilson’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence midnight 23 October 2021 and expire midnight 1 November 2021. Stewards deemed jockey S. Wilson’s carelessness in the low range and he was advised of his right of review. Race 6:THE GARRADUNGA HOTEL TRAINERS CUP BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP – 1500 Metres LOVE FLIES – Slow to begin. FORSETI – Slow to begin. HOT TOP – Raced wide for the majority of the race. AROHA TE MANA – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 7: CORAL COAST FINANCIAL SERVICES COUNTRY CUPS CHALLENGE QUAL/INNISFAIL CUP OPEN HANDICAP – 2000 Metres STAR INES – Slow to begin. MAQUEREAU – Bounded in the air as the start was effected. BEST HOFFA –Shifted wider near the 1100 metres to improve until obtaining the lead leaving the 800 metres.GAELIC – Raced wide in the early and middle stages of the race. EMPIRE GAMES – Raced wide for the majority of the race. HE'S WOW CLASS – Saddle shifted back during the race.
