Gordonvale – Race 5: KERRY COPPIN MEMORIAL/FULLER SPORTS COUNTRY CUPS
HANDICAP – 1800 Metres
Night Of Power (IRE) – Stable representative Mr P. McGuire advised stewards on returning to its stable it was discovered the gelding had injured its off fore tendon and it is the stables intention it be retired from racing. Mr McGuire was advised that should circumstances change a full veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to it trialling or racing again.

General:
 
As the following runners had not raced for an extended period, they all underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and were cleared to start.

Due to the very late arrival of the ambulance on course all race start times were delayed.  
 
Race 1: CAIRNS FAMILY LAW GROUP BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP – 900
Metres
 
WRONGFULLY WRONG – Fractious in the barriers throwing its head in the air and as a result was slow to begin.

HERO'S CHOICE – Slow to begin.
 
MILLAA MISS – Slow into stride.
 
BEAN WARRIOR – Raced wide for the majority.
 
RED LANTERN – Raced wide for the majority.
 
RUGGED ROY – Raced wide for the majority.
 
SIMPLY BEANS – Raced wide for the majority.

Race 2: GRECO'S AUTO ELECTRICS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 900 Metres
 
MIDAS STAR – Over-raced in the early stages. Bumped near the winning post.
 
SNAP CHAT – Shifted in under riding near the winning post bumping MIDAS STAR.
 
YARRALINDA – Raced wide for the majority.

Race 3: BROTHERS LEAGUE CLUB INNISFAIL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 900
Metres
 
MISSIN' DE QUO – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start and became loose when being unloaded for a short period before being recaptured. Underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
CALM IS POWER – Slow to begin.
 
RISING PROPHET – Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping MISS CANTIK. Restrained from heels near the 500 metres.

MISS CANTIK – Bumped on jumping.
 
PENNY’S INTENT – Rider I. Teh advised stewards on returning to scale the filly raced greenly throughout.
 
Race 4: RAINE AND HORNE INNISFAIL BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP (1) – 1200
Metres
 
BLEND – Slow to begin.
 
TOFF ROCKS – Slow to begin.
 
BELLS APPROACHING – Apprentice T. Townsend lost her near side iron on jumping, placing her at a distinct disadvantage causing her to lose considerable ground until being able to regain it.   

PREMIUM STAR – Restrained soon after the start to obtain a position closer to the inside running rail.
 
SPANISH BEANS – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
SIR MAXIMUS – Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 5: MICALE CABINETS/ LARSENS NEWS EXPRESS  BENCHMARK 50
HANDICAP (2) – 1200 Metres
 
SMART VENGEANCE – Stood flat footed and lost considerable ground. Trainer D. Reynolds was advised he must obtain a further barrier certificate for the mare prior to it being permitted to race again.
 
CODY'S BOY – Slow to begin.
 
MAKE IT HAPPEN – Slow to begin.
 
GULF OF ODESSA – Slow to begin.
 
OLD FASHIONED ROSE – Slow to begin. Lost both hind plates during running.

ENUFF ROSES – Tendency to over-race in the middle stages.

TAORMINA RHYTHM – Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 6: INNISFAIL FAMILY LAW QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1200 Metres
 
SHADOW ECLIPSE – Was reluctant to proceed to the barriers delaying the start. Trainer N. Nelson was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings parading manners. Slow to begin.
 
NORTHERN GIRL – Slow to begin. Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
MISHANI EAGLE – Slow to begin.
 
HUGHIE VUITTON – Slow to begin. Checked near the 200 metres when bumped heavily and crowded for room. Shifted in near the 50 metres crowding SMART BEE.
 
ANOTHER JACK – Over-raced in the middle stages. Bumped near the 200 metres and was restrained.
 
LAIDE – Restrained off heels leaving the 600 metres and again leaving the 500 metres. Shifted in near the 200 metres under riding bumping ANOTHER JACK which was restrained and shifted in bumping heavily with STEEL GRIT which became unbalanced and shifted in bumping HUGHIE VUITTON which was checked when also being inconvenienced by PRECISE FLAME which shifted out slightly. At a subsequent inquiry in the presence of senior jockey C. Spry, on the above specifics apprentice Teh pleaded not guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR 131(a), after hearing further submissions and viewing of the films Ms Teh made application to change her plea to guilty which was accepted by the stewards. In considering all matters, her riding record in regard to this breach and amended guilty plea stewards suspended Ms Teh’s licence to ride in races for a period of 7 days to commence midnight Saturday 28 October 2023 up to and including midnight 4 November 2023. Ms Teh was advised of her rights to an appeal against the steward’s decision.  
 
PRECISE FLAME – Shifted out marginally under pressure leaving the 200 metres inconveniencing HUGHIE VUITTON. Apprentice T. Townsend was advised to show greater care when shifting ground.

STEEL GRIT – Bumped heavily near the 200 metres becoming unbalanced.  

SMART BEE – Crowded for room near the 50 metres.

MADONNACAN'TSING – Raced wide for the majority.
 
ROTHGURL – Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 7: CANADIAN CLUB JOHNSTONE RIVER OPEN HANDICAP – 1200 Metres
 
ZOUVILLA – Slow to begin.

YES DREAM – Tended to lay out for the majority of the race. Rider C. Spry dropped his whip near the 150 metres.
 
SILENT EXPLORER – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.  
 
MY BEST EFFORT – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 8: INNISFAIL STOCKFEEDS / DRM PLUMBING  TRAINERS CUP
BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP (1) – 1500 Metres
 
STAR INES – Slow to begin.
 
DUYFKEN – Slow to begin.
 
HEALING GAME – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
CLOUDY MISS – Raced wide in the early stages.

KOONUNGA HILL – Raced wide leaving the 900 metres.

HOW DO YOU SLEEP – Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 9: BOQ EARLVILLE AND CASSOWARY COAST TRAINERS CUP BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP (2) – 1500 Metres
 
VITESSE FRANCAIS – Slow to begin.
 
ROTH'N'BELL – Slow to begin. Rider M. Butler pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR 131(c) in that he made a prolonged celebratory gesture prior to the winning post and was fined the sum of $200.00.  

BARMERA – Over-raced in the early stages throwing its head in the air for a short distance leaving the 1300 metres.

SIZZLING SUN – Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 10: CORAL COAST FINANCIAL SERVICES COUNTRY CUPS CHALLENGE
QUALIFIER / INNISFAIL CUP OPEN HANDICAP –   2000 Metres
 
STAR STATUS – Slow to begin.
 
VIVENZO – Slow to begin.

FORGIATO (NZ) – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the middle stages.
