QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT INNISFAIL TURF CLUB SATURDAY 19TH OCTOBER 2024 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Good 3 RAIL – TRUE PENETROMETER – N/A OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – S. CopelinStewards – A. Holzhauser (Cadet), P. Lane (Asst. Steward) & Y. W. Schmidt (C.A.T. Steward) SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT GENERAL Permitted Overweights: Race 1 - SAVVY MISS – N. DAY +1Race 3 - WONG WAY - L. GUERNIER +1Race 4 – GULF OF LION - J. EDWARDS +1Race 4 – POMADE - L. GUERNIER +1 Race 1 – BLAZING BONNIE – Trainer Johanna Hassett provided written advice to stewards that due to other commitments she was unable to be on course today and that the mare for the Innisfail meeting would be under the care of Co-Trainers Trevor and Peter Rowe. Race 5 - SIZZLING SUN – Trainer Ngaire Nelson advised stewards the mare had sustained an injury to its offside girth area and on inspection by a veterinarian the horse was deemed not fit to start in today’s race and subsequently declared as a late scratching on veterinary advice at 9.03am even-date. Trainer Nelson has been advised a veterinary certificate clearance will be required prior to the mare taking part in any future trial, jump-out or race start. Race 1: Micale Cabinets/ Innisfail Family Law QTIS Maiden Plate 1000m OUR FOLLY – Began awkwardly. JOURNO – Began awkwardly, raced ungenerously in the early stages, wide for the majority. THREEBROTHERS – Shifted out awkwardly on jumping, over raced in the early and middle stages. MAROONS – Raced greenly throughout, shifted off heels approaching the 100 metres. TINDER SWINDLER – Restrained off heels at the 700 metres. DISCO ANNIE – Raced wide for the majority of the race. SAVVY MISS - Raced wide for the majority of the race. Race 2: Michael Spry Painting/ Cairns Family Law BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1000m POWER PUFF – Began awkwardly. GOLDEN CHARLES – Began awkwardly and wide for the majority. DENIMS – Slowly away..GREY POWER – Slowly away, shifted out abruptly after the start hampering BELLA BIANCA, wide for the majority of the race. BELLA BIANCA – Slowly away, forced out after jumping. ASSYMETRY – Jockey App. Leslight advised the mare never travelled comfortably throughout the race failing to respond to his riding in the home straight, and as such he elected to allow the mare to run to the line without being fully tested. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery rate. Race 3: DRM Plumbing/ Jason Aquilina Electrical BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1200m FIVE BULLS – Slow into stride. OAKFIELD PANTHER - Slow into stride.FERUS – Slowly away. BOOVEY – Began awkwardly. BORLOTTI BEANS – Wide for the majority of the race. MR KOBO – Raced ungenerously in the middle stages. MISHANI AVIATOR – Disappointed for a run near the 200 metres and restrained when unable to secure a clear run approaching the winning post. Race 4: Racing Qld COUNTRY STAMPEDE QUALIFIER / JOHNSTONE RIVER OPEN Handicap 1200m MISTER LARRABEE – Slowly away CRYSTAL CHIEF – Over raced in the middle stages, the jockey accidently dropped her whip near the 200 metres. SOUTHERN FRONT – Raced wide for the majority of the race. ALL TIME LEGEND - A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding identified the presence of blood in both nostrils. The trainer Mr. Massingham was advised ALL TIME LEGEND shall not without the permission of the Stewards: (a) for a period of two months after the attack of bleeding be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse, recognised training track, private training establishment, or other place; (b) must not start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000 metres, or an official trial or jump-out in the presence and satisfaction of a Steward. AR 79(4). The trainer advised the gelding was now to be retired, however he was advised if the gelding was to later continue racing the provisions and procedures of AR 79(4) are to be complied with prior to any further trial, jumpout or race start. Race 5: Brothers League Club / Greg Strickland Memorial TRAINERS CUP BENCHMARK 1500m HCP SO DAPPER – Slow to begin, raced wide from the 600 metres. ZOUHOPE - Slow to begin. BATTLE ROYALE – Raced keenly in the early stages. BARMERA – Raced keenly in the early stages. HEADLANDER – Steadied when racing in restricted room at the 300 metres. ALWAYS WRITTEN OFF – Momentarily held up at the final stages of the race when unable to obtain clear running..MA MA'S ROSE - Was unable to keep pace with the body of the field and trailed throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the offside fore frog area of the hoof. Trainer Trevor Rowe has been advised a veterinary certificate clearance will be required prior to the mare taking part in any future trial, jump-out or race start. Race 6: Coral Coast Financial Services INNISFAIL CUP OPEN Handicap 2000m HCP Correct weight was delayed allowing Jockey P. Romeo, rider of 3rd placed MEDAL, to view the race day footage with a view to lodging an objection against the winner FIFTH POSITION ridden by Jockey C. JOKIC. After viewing the race day film Jockey Romeo advised stewards he did not wish to proceed and correct weight was declared on the judge’s semaphored numbers. ARMOUR FORCE – Raced keenly in the early stages. DEEPSTRIKE (NZ) – Raced wide from the 700 metres. OLYMPIC KORCHNOI (BRZ) - Steadied off heels nearing the 1300 metres.SECRET LOCATION – When questioned in relation to the gelding’s performance, App. T Leslight advised stewards he may have erred in not improving his position earlier in running as he believes the gelding is one paced and capable of sustaining a long run as in previous performances.
