WEATHER – FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - OUT 7M ALL TRACK
GENERAL: As G Colless was indisposed, the following riding replacements were approved:
Race 2 BECKONING DANCER S Shield
Race 3 TYPHOON JO S Seamer
Race 4 HYDRO’S BOY S Galloway
Race 7 SEEN AT SEA M Bennett
Race 8 AL SECONDA B Stewart

RACE 1: NORTH IPSWICH BAKERY H'CAP - 1100M
DELLICOSE jumped out at the start and made contact with LARGER.
STUMPY JESTER jumped away awkwardly and brushed TYLER.
DIAMONDS FOR ME blundered at the start.
After leaving the 500m DIAMONDS FOR ME shifted out to improve and made contact with TYLER.
RACE 2: M & P FLOOR COVERINGS SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1350M
GOING FOR GOLD jumped inwards at the start hampering DESERT DUKE.
AQUATAI jumped away awkwardly.
CHARIOT LA BRONTE was tightened at the start between SAM’S APPEAL and OUR ZENA which was taken out by BECKONING DANCER.
Near the 1000m MILLENNIAL had to be eased away from the heels of IMPOSING ROAD.
OUR ZENA was caught wide after the start and was obliged to race wide for the majority of the race.
On straightening, BECKONING DANCER attempted to take a run between SAM’S APPEAL and CHERMOULA in restricted room. When attempting this run, SAM’S APPEAL shifted out slightly, resulting in BECKONING DANCER and CHERMOULA making contact and becoming unbalanced.
After leaving the 200m CHERMOULA and OUR ZENA bumped.
On the finishing line REGAL GARTER shifted out, tightening CHARIOT LA BRONTE.
RACE 3: J R STEVENS PTY LTD LINE AND BULK HAULAGE H'CAP - 1000M
STEEL SPRINGS and BLUE GLITZ were slow to jump.
NO MORE NERVES jumped away awkwardly and made heavy contact with MERCURE.
STEEL SPRINGS had to be checked approaching the home turn when attempting a run between TIMBUMBURI and LISA YVETTE which were both inclined to race greenly and shift ground.
Approaching the home turn BLUE GLITZ hung out, taking NO MORE NERVES wider rounding the turn. BLUE GLITZ was declared ineligible to race until it trials to the satisfaction of the stewards.
RACE 4: ROSS LLEWELLYN MOTORS H'CAP - 1000M
Approaching the 800m YALLAH MOON, when being steadied, overreacted and lost ground.
Near the 700m YALLAH MOON was inclined to hang out.
Rounding the home turn YALLAH MOON struck the running rail and became unbalanced, losing ground.
J Bryant, the rider of YALLAH MOON, accidentally dropped her whip approaching the 200m.
G Lynch was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift out approaching the 200m when attempting to take a narrow run between MIA PIPER and WISH LIST where there was insufficient room, making contact with MIA PIPER’s hind quarters, resulting in MIA PIPER being severely hampered.
RACE 5: HERITAGE ROOFING H'CAP - 1350M
B Stewart, the rider of IRON ORE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 1000m he permitted his mount to shift in, resulting in SULIMANALU having to be checked. B Stewart was suspended for a period of 8 meetings to commence at midnight on Saturday, 8 April, and expire at midnight on Saturday, 22 April 2000.
PULMAN’S RETREAT lost its off fore plate in running.
RACE 6: J R STEVENS PTY LTD LINE AND BULK HAULAGE H'CAP - 1350M
KIRRANE and SUPERBLAST came together on jumping away.
Shortly after the start WENDY’S HOPE shifted in and brushed BISTRO MONEY.
Near the finishing line DERBY STREET had to be eased off the heels of WENDY’S HOPE.
RACE 7: CASH CONVERTERS SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1100M
DE KWILA jumped away awkwardly.
Near the 500m LOGAN’S RUN had to be steadied off the heels of DE KWILA.
REGAL TYCOON was badly held up rounding the home turn and could not get clear until inside the 100m.
It was noted that MAKE NO MISTAKE was held up rounding the home turn and had difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight.
S Seamer had to stop riding REGAL TYCOON near the finishing line due to that horse shifting in on to SEEN AT SEA.
RACE 8: EDWARDS MOTORCYCLES SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1100M
As T Hill failed to arrive to fulfil his engagement on CHESTER BAY and as there were no available apprentices, stewards permitted him to be replaced by N Jolly. Stewards intend to interview T Hill in relation to this matter.
After leaving the 700m COUNT IZON was inclined to hang out resulting in RAE’S GOLD being inconvenienced.
It was noted that BLUE ON GREEN and VITAL ASSET were caught wide and obliged to race wide for the majority of the race.
When questioned concerning the reason AMON RA appeared to lose ground in the early stages, D Walsh explained that after jumping awkwardly, the horse was not travelling well in the early stages and having difficulty keeping in touch as a result of the early pace. He added that the horse ran home well over the final 400m and in his opinion felt that AMON RA would be better suited over longer journeys. The explanation was noted.
RACE 9: BROTHERS AOOB H’CAP – 1500M
LUNCHTIME LEGEND was a late withdrawal at 3.27 p.m. when trainer’s representative L Birchley informed stewards that a misunderstanding had occurred with the booking of the transport to the races.
Trainer G Waterhouse was fined $200 for being careless in the saddling of GALLANT PRIDE whereby a packing towel was left off, resulting in the horse having to be reweighed.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
