IPSWICH TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT WED.29.11.00

STEWARDS PANEL: Mr J. Hackett (Chairman); Mr C. Clifford; Mr R. Sanders; Mr W. Birch; Mr J. Williamson (Cadet).

WEATHER - FINE TRACK - GOOD RAIL - 4M. ALL TRACK

RACE 1: IPSWICH GOLD CLUB THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN H'CAP - 1350M.

SEMISYR jumped inwards at the start, taking LADY SALLANCE in on to GREAT EXPECTATIONS, which had to be checked.

IDLE SQUAW jumped awkwardly and made contact with GENTLEMAN CALLER, resulting in that horse losing ground at the start.

Approaching the 1000m., DUTCH LAD raced ungenerously and was reluctant to hold its position inside GENTLEMAN CALLER.

Leaving the 900m., REBEL CHIEF and STYLISH VEE were momentarily tightened as a consequence of IDLE SQUAW shifting in momentarily.

Apprentice K. Yoshida, rider of IDLE SQUAW, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, the careless riding being that he permitted his mount to shift out approaching the home turn, causing interference to STYLISH VEE. K. Yoshida was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by
7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 3 December, and to expire at midnight, 13 December 2000.


RACE 2: READINGS CINEMA TWO-YEARS-OLD COLTS AND GELDINGS MAIDEN H'CAP - 1000M.

CORIOLANUS dislodged M. Rodd behind the barriers. After being recaptured, the gelding was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and found suitable to race.

Leaving the 700m., WHEELAWAY had to be steadied off the heels of SUNDAE JESTER, which shifted in.

LACRYMA BAY was inclined to hang out making the home turn, taking SUNDAE JESTER wider on the track.


RACE 3: STOCKS PRODUCE AND SILVERDALE MAIDEN H'CAP - 1000M.

VIRGO'S MADHATTA lost ground at the start when tightened for room between CANDO LAD and HIGH SIGN, which jumped away awkwardly.

ALL MIGHTY ACE also jumped away awkwardly.

ALL MIGHTY ACE was inclined to hang out making the first turn.

A veterinary examination of ALL MIGHTY ACE following the event, revealed the gelding to be shin sore in both forelegs.


RACE 4: LOWOOD FIVE STAR SUPERMARKET MAIDEN H'CAP - 1000M.

BLONDE SPIRIT jumped awkwardly and lost ground at the start. G. Colless explained that after missing the start, the horse had a tendency to lay out and as a consequence of its previous trial history of laying out, he elected to progress forward, however when progressing forward was obliged to race extremely wide for the majority of the event.

FIRE OF HEAVEN knuckled over on jumping away.

Near the 900m., ROCCINA had to be checked off the heels of ICEMAZE when it assumed the lead. T. Ikenushi, rider of ICEMAZE, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances and to ensure he allowed sufficient room when crossing.

Approaching the 700m., AURELIUS became unbalanced when being steadied off the heels of FULL OF AWE, which was inclined to race ungenerously. As a result of this incident, CAPICE and LITTLE PIG, which were racing to the inside of AURELIUS, were inconvenienced.

LITTLE PIG was held up in the early stages of the straight, and after leaving the 200m., shifted out to improve, however when shifting out, overreacted and brushed CAPICE, forcing that horse to be steadied off the heels of FIRE OF HEAVEN. As a result, CAPICE became unbalanced and shifted in abruptly.

The club's veterinary surgeon reported that LITTLE PIG had sustained a minor laceration to the off side foreleg in running.


RACE 5: CASABLANCAHAIRSTYLISTS CLASS 5 H'CAP - 1000M.

IMPERIAL JESTER was slow to begin.

ANGLESTONE GIRL knuckled on jumping.

NOT TOO VAIN was forced to race wide for the majority of the race.

Rounding the home turn and for some distance in the straight, HYCRAFT was held up for clear running.


RACE 6: MYSTIQUE LINGERIE CLASS 1 H'CAP - 1350M.

A veterinary examination of ANOTHER GENERAL at the barriers revealed that the gelding was suitable to race.

PRAYDO was a little slow to begin.

IVANA'S TRICK jumped awkwardly.

SCARLEX was inclined to hang out making the home turn and shifted ground in the early stages of the straight.


RACE 7: STAR 106.9 FM FAT BOYS CLASS 3 H'CAP - 1200M.

I SEE RED was slow to begin.

On jumping, EVIL DEED and CELENTO came together.

Shortly after the start, HOOKMAN shifted in, making heavy contact with CELENTO, forcing that horse to be taken in on to EVIL DEED, which had to be checked away from the heels of ROY'S FOLLY.

ROY'S FOLLY became unbalanced near the 1100m..

Approaching the home turn, EVERY INTENTION broke down when leading and was retired from the race. The club's veterinary surgeon reported that the mare had broken down in the near side foreleg and was euthanased on humane grounds. As a result of EVERY INTENTION breaking down, CHOKWE and ROY'S FOLLY were both inconvenienced.

Approaching the 200m., EVIL DEED shifted out to improve, taking CELENTO and HOOKMAN wider on the track.

R. Hancock, rider of CELENTO, was reprimanded for using his whip excessively over the concluding stages of the race.

TWIN FORTUNE cast its off side hind plate in running.



RACE 8: STAR 106.9 FM CLASS 4 H'CAP - 1666M.

SURE SIGN jumped awkwardly.

SEMI LUSKIN reared as the start was effected, losing ground. Connections were advised that a warning was being placed on SEMI LUSKIN with respect to its barrier manners.

Stewards questioned M. Pelling, rider of IN SINGAPORE, and trainer S. Jones concerning the seemingly disappointing performance of the horse. M. Pelling explained that whilst IN SIGAPORE travelled well in running, he felt that the horse was not suited to the pattern of the race in that it may not have been suited by the slow early tempo, and when the leader sprinted from the 600m. IN SINGAPORE had difficulty making ground. Trainer S. Jones indicated that the horse had pleased in its preparation for today's race, however following the race he agreed that the performance was disappointing and that the gelding would be sent for a spell. A veterinary examination was ordered and the surgeon reported no significant abnormalities, and a swab sample was taken from IN SINGAPORE.




RACE 9: WAYNEE POO ROBERTS CLASS 2 H'CAP - 2150M.

STRLING RED, which stood flatfooted at the start losing considerable ground, will be required to pass a barrier test before racing again.

MISTER BIG TIME got its head up rounding the first turn when being restrained off the heels of BOLSHEVIK.

R. Kerwin, rider of STIRLING RED, was cautioned for permitting her mount to shift in momentarily tightening the running of FAST AL.



ALL WINNERS AND IN SINGAPORE WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
