FROM BTC MEETING, 28.2.01

Stewards today concluded their inquiry into the reason for FLYING TAAN (K. Yoshida) falling in the vicinity of the 200m. in race 6 at Doomben on Wednesday, 28 February 2001. The inquiry was adjourned after taking initial evidence to enable K.Yoshida to provide evidence as he was transported to the Royal Brisbane Hospital. The inquiry continued today and after considering the evidence, it was established that K. Yoshida had attempted to take a run on FLYING TAAN between WESTERLY and LET FLY near the 200. where there was doubtful room and fell. K. Yoshida explained that due to the horse travelling well at the time he had difficulty restraining the horse at that point. In all the circumstances, stewards were satisfied no blame could be attributed to any one rider and no action was taken.

Trainer S. Hinks reported that POSCOH sustained an injury to the near-hind tendon, and trainer B. Brown reported that SABAI SABAI had sustained an injury to an eye after both horses competed at the above meeting.

FROM KRC MEETING, 4.5.01

Stewards today concluded an inquiry into the reason for TOY OF JOY (D. Green) falling in race 6. After taking evidence from several riders, the inquiry was adjourned due to D. Green being transported to the Kilcoy Base Hospital. The inquiry continued today, enabling D. Green to present evidence. After considering all evidence, it was established that TOY OF JOY made the crossing on the turn out of the straight awkwardly and shifted out, coming into contact with the off-side hind leg of SHADEAL PRINCE, causing TOY OF JOY to blunder, dislodging D. Green. In the circumstances, no blame could be attributed to any rider and the inquiry was closed.

Stewards today also concluded an inquiry into an incident which occurred just prior to the winning post on the first occasion in the Kilcoy Cup. G. Palmer, rider of METAL MERCHANT, was cautioned for permitting his mount to shift in, resulting in CLASSIC CLICHÉ being momentarily tightened.
