Race 1: Sky Channel Live Racing QTIS 3yo Class 2 H'cap - 1200m.
1st - General Patton 2nd - Paradise Dancer 3rd -Venus Celeste 4th - Mambo Star
Due to a clerical error, T. Pannell was shown as the rider of Paradise Dancer in the racebook when in fact K. Attard was the declared rider for that filly.
Trainer L. Paton was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for SPECTACULAR PIC by the prescribed time.
VENUS CELESTE (K. Yoshida) was slowly into stride.
MAMBO STAR (A. Parramore) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
PARADISE DANCER (K. Attard) was inclined to hang out rounding the home turn.
A veterinary examination of ELLE LIONNE following the event revealed the filly had pulled up distressed, and the stewards adopted the veterinary surgeon's recommendation that the horse undergo an endoscopic examination and also provide to stewards the results of pathology tests prior to its next race start.
Race 2: QRSE Our Eye Liner Function Centre 3yo & Up Maiden Plate - 1200m..
1st - Martins Dream 2nd - Dance Card Doll 3rd - Taming The Shrew 4th - Feline Artistry
RUNNING WARRIOR (G. Geran) and DONNA BAHHARE (A. Pattillo) were both slow to begin.
Approaching the 800m., LEGS ARE BEST (M. Pelling) raced in restricted room and had to be steadied when cramped for room by TAMING THE SHREW (T.Pannell), which was inclined to shift in away from SPARKLING ASCOT (C. Rogers).
DANCE CARD DOLL (B. Hull) was held up on the home turn.
RUNNING WARRIOR was held up in the early stages of the straight and near the 200m. had to be eased to avoid the heels of the tiring HARRY'S CHOICE (J. Taylor).
PRETTY SISTER (G. Colless) was inclined to hang out badly from the 500m. until shortly after straightening. A veterinary examination of PRETTY SISTER failed to reveal any abnormality.
Trainer L. Richardson was advised that a warning was being placed on PRETTY SISTER.
SPARKLING ASCOT and ODE TO PEACE (C. Kearney) were forced to race extremely wide throughout.
A veterinary examination of ODE TO PEACE, which tailed off, failed to reveal any abnormality.
The club's veterinary surgeon also reported that RUNNING WARRIOR was examined with no abnormalities reported at the time of examination.
Race 3: Queensland Times Our Local News Class 1 H'cap - 1000m.
1st - Cooper King 2nd - Cotopaxi 3rd - Smart Alick 4th - Lucky D'or
Trainer J. Wright's explanation for the late declaration of M. Cant as the rider of COTOPAXI was accepted.
LUCKY D'OR (K. Banks) jumped away awkwardly.
COOPER KING (G. Colless) was forced to race in restricted room from the 800m. until forced to check and relinquish its position near the 700m. when tightened for room by SMART ALICK (J. Powell), which was taken in by DIAMONESQUE (K. Attard). Apprentice K. Attard was was severely reprimanded and reminded of her obligations in similar circumstances.
I EXPLORE (R. McMahon) hung out approaching the home turn, and rounding the home turn shifted out despite the efforts of its rider, making contact with TARONGA PARK (T.Pannell), forcing it wider on the track, and enabling COOPER KING to obtain a run through on its inside.
Approaching the 200m., TARONGA PARK (T.Pannell) shifted in and away from SMART ALICK (J. Powell), resulting in the tiring I EXPLORE (R. McMahon) being hampered.
Race 4: Enjoy A Schweppes Lemonade QTIS 2yo H'cap - 1000m.
1st - Ciao For Now 2nd - Legal Opinions 3rd - Prince Of Yodells 4th - Vital Statistic
Due to apprentice M. Radecker being stood down, apprentice J. Murphy was substituted as the rider of ELECTRA BLUE.
EXECTRA BLUE (J. Murphy) was slow to begin.
TAG (M. Pelling) blundered on jumped away and was slow to begin.
Approaching the 600m., CIAO FOR NOW (P. Hammersley) was obliged to ease from the heels of SQUEEZE ME IN, which shifted in.
A post-race veterinary examination of TAG, which hung out from the 600m. until rounding the home turn, found the horse to be shin sore. Trainer K. Smith was advised that TAG would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start as well as providing a veterinary clearance for the colt.
Race 5: Ipswich City Council Maiden H'cap - 1666m.
1st - Seven Crownies 2nd - Stand Your Ground 3rd - Sentimental Song 4th - Little Dimple
PRINCE PUZZLE (M. Pelling) jumped outwards at the start, hampering both STAND YOUR GROUND and ZER QUITO.
LITTLE DIMPLE (Y. Yamazaki) was slow to begin.
SENTIMENTAL SONG (B. Johnson) was caught 4 wide in the run to the first turn and then raced 3 and 4 wide for the remainder of the event.
A veterinary examination of ZER QUITO, which capitulated badly from the 600m. onwards, failed to reveal any abnormality.
Race 6: QRSE Heritage Recruitment Class 4 H'cap - 1666m.
1st - Lindholme 2nd - Palace Jest 3rd - Eye Gee Aye 4th - Run A Muk
Trainer D. People's explanation for the late declaration of rider for ZARIBAN was accepted.
PALACE JEST (D. Tanti) jumped away awkwardly.
PALACE JEST was forced to ease from the heels of LINDHOLME (M. Pelling), which shifted in approaching the 1500m..
WILLOWVIEW (K. Attard) got its head up and raced ungenerously when being restrained rounding the first turn.
Apprentice K. Attard, rider of WILLOWVIEW, was reprimanded for allowing her mount to shift in rounding the home turn, resulting in ZARIBAN being tightened for room, and as a result lost significant ground.
Apprentice L. Wray was questioned regarding her whip use on RUN A MUK in the straight.. L. Wray was cautioned and reminded of her obligations under the rules regarding horses being struck forward of the shoulder.
The club's veterinary surgeon reported that RUN A MUK was sore in the right shoulder following the event. Trainer B. Smith was advised that he would have to present a veterinary clearance for RUN A MUK prior to its next race start.
Race 7: QRSE XXXX As Good As Gold H'cap - 1350m.
1st - All Energy 2nd - Shinkickin Cowgirl 3rd - Lord Rupert 4th - Final Journey
Due to a clerical error, M. Pelling was not shown in the racebook as the rider of SHINKICKIN COWGIRL.
GOLD STARS was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon at the barriers and was subsequently withdrawn by stewards acting on veterinary advice at 4.46 p.m.. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on GOLD STARS were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 9 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 10 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets, applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time. Trainer D. Bell was advised that he would be required to provide a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to its next race start.
FORCEFUL LAD (N. Day) was slow to begin.
POSITRON (T.Pannell) jumped outwards at the start, making contact with FLASH CIRCLE (P. Hammersley).
POSITRON (T.Pannell) hung out from the 700m. onwards. A veterinary examination of POSITRON revealed the gelding to have pulled up in a distressed state. Trainer's representative Mr M. Hawkes was advised he would be required to provide a veterinary clearance for POSITRON prior to its next race start.
LORD RUPERT (G. Colless) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
WITH THE EXCEPTION OF RACE 6, ALL WINNERS, POSITRON AND SENTIMENTAL SONG WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED
