SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

From SCTC, Race 3, 6.5.12

Trainer P. Duff reported that following this race, Who’s Da Kid was found to have suffered a minor eye injury and would be sent for a spell.


From ITC. 30.3.12 – Race 4

Stewards today concluded an adjourned inquiry from Race 4 at Ipswich Turf Club on 30.3.12 at which apprentice T. Harrison, rider of TOBORAIGH STAR, was charged with careless riding. Stewards today, after taking further evidence from Miss Harrison and her Master Mr B. Hill, found her guilty as charged and imposed a suspension of 3 meetings. Stewards ordered that this suspension be served cumulatively with the suspension incurred by Miss Harrison at the SCTC meetings on Friday, 4 May and Sunday, 6 May. Under these circumstances, Miss Harrison’s licence to ride in races will be suspended from midnight, 13 May until midnight, Sunday, 10 June.


As D. Barron and A. Spinks were indisposed, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.




Race 1: United Voice Maiden Plate – 1350m
1st – Burn So Bright 2nd – Ivan’s Choice 3rd – Aussie Agenda 4th - Hetty

After considering the explanation from trainer D. Duryea regarding her reason for the late scratching of LEGAZPI, stewards imposed a fine of $300. In deciding penalty, stewards took into account the actions of Miss Duryea resulted in an emergency being denied the opportunity a start in the race.

BRAVE PALATINSK (J. Byrne) began awkwardly.

IVAN’S CHOICE (B. Stewart), GRABTHEMONEY’N’RUN (P. Keane) and CALL ME GUS (K. Forrester) were slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, BRAVE PALATINSK was taken in by SHEZ ZARZOU (D. Robinson) when that horse shifted in. D. Robinson, rider of SHEZ ZARZOU, was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.

OFFSET PRINCE (A. Pattillo) and CALL ME GUS both overraced in the middle stages.

IVAN’S CHOICE had a tendency to lay in under pressure over the final 200m.

Leaving the 100m, HETTY (G. Colless) shifted out and bumped with AUSSIE AGENDA (T. Bell).

GRACE GOT MAIL (L. Cassidy) raced wide throughout.

T. Bell reported that AUSSIE AGENDA had a tendency to lay in badly in the straight, which prevented him from fully testing his mount.


Race 2: Sky Racing World Class 2 H’cap – 1000m
1st – Longshoreman 2nd – Coup Rayvan 3rd – Setheworldonfire 4th - Stablizer

Trainer M. Palmer was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for INTADOM by the prescribed time.

Stewards questioned D. Griffin regarding his failure to fulfil his engagement on INTADOM. After considering his explanation, stewards were of the view that there may have been a miscommunication regarding this engagement and no further action was taken.

MURPHY’S PROSPECT (K. Gates) was slow to begin, resulting in the horse losing valuable ground.

LONGSHOREMAN (S. Galloway) began awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with the hind quarters of COUP RAYVAN.

Approaching the 700m, MURPHY’S PROSPECT (K. Gates) overraced at the heels of STRATUM FORCE (M. Gray) and had to be steadied.

Leaving the 800m, STRATUM FORCE (M. Gray) overraced at the heels of COUP RAYVAN (C. Munce) for a short distance.

Near the 150, DEEP FAITH (P. Schmidt) had to be steadied from the heels of LONGSHOREMAN when that horse shifted out to improve. S. Galloway, rider of LONGSHOREMAN, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

DEEP FAITH (P. Schmidt) and SETHEWORLDONFIRE (T. Bell) raced wide throughout.

PERRION, which bled during the event, will be barred from racing for a period of 3 months.

Following this race the track rating was upgraded to Slow 6.


Race 3: Australian Meat Industry Employee Union Class 2 H’cap – 1000m
1st – Florida Fellow 2nd – Publican 3rd – Latin American 4th – La Mariposa

EDDIE BIDDER BOY (B. Stewart) was crowded for room on jumping away between LATIN AMERICAN (M. Cahill) and SYRIAN LIONESS (T. Harrison), which shifted in.

Leaving the 200m, EDDIE BIDDER BOY (B. Stewart) shifted in abruptly, hampering GARLAND GIRL (D. Griffin). EDDIE BIDDER BOY then continued to hang in for the remainder of the event, resulting in B. Stewart being unable to test the gelding.

LA MARIPOSA (M. Vance) and STAY PUT (T. Bell) raced wide for the majority of the race.

PUBLICAN (J. Stanley) broke down after the winning post and was euthanased on humane grounds.

TIE HAND lost its near fore plate in running.

Following this race the track rating was upgraded to Dead 5.


Race 4: Rail Tram And Bus Union Class 1 H’cap – 1666m
1st – Maginnis Magee 2nd – La Flash 3rd – Cross The Star 4th – Crown The Warrior

MAGINNIS MAGEE (T. Harrison) and BROTHER LOVE (C. Munce) made contact on jumping away.

CROSS THE STAR (M.O’Brien) began awkwardly.

A short distance after the start, LA FLASH (J. Taylor) and LADY MARY (L. Cassidy) came together and bumped.

MAGINNIS MAGEE overraced in the early stages of the event.

Near the 1400m, MAGINNIS MAGEE was tightened for room when racing to the inside of initially LA FLASH and then CROSS THE START. Both J. Taylor, rider of LA FLASH, and apprentice M. O’Brien, rider of CROSS THE STAR, were reprimanded for shifting in at that point when not fully clear.

Leaving the 500m, MAGINNIS MAGEE had to be steadied to avoid the heels of HARISH (S. Galloway), which shifted out.

TWILIGHT REEF (T. Bell) and HULA HUA (M. Cahill) raced extremely wide over the final 1000m of the race.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of LADY MARY, L. Cassidy stated that the horse travelled well in the early stages of the event but commenced to overrace from the 1000m. Trainer B. Laming could offer no tangible explanation for the performance of LADY MARY.


Race 5: CFMEU Construction Benchamark 80 H’cap – 2150m
1st – Sir Stanley 2nd – Sam’s Town 3rd – Clangor 4th - Vital Organ

Trainer L. Birchley was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for VITAL ORGAN by the prescribed time.

LOVES A CHALLENGE (L. Cassidy) blundered on the turn out of the straight on the first occasion.

CLANGOR (T. Bell) was caught wide in the early stages.

Leaving the 800m, RED UNICORN (S. Galloway) shifted out to improve and in doing so forced LOVES A CHALLENGE wider on the track.

LOVES A CHALLGENGE raced wide for the majority of the race.

DANE PRINCESS (G. Geran) hung in for the majority of the race.

VITAL ORGAN (P. Hammersley) was crowded for room on the turn out of the front straight and near the 1600m when racing to the inside of RED UNICORN (S. Galloway). S. Galloway, rider of RED UNICORN, was reprimanded for allow his mount to shift in at that point.

P. Hammersley reported that VITAL ORGAN overraced in the early and middle stages and he felt this was a contributing factor in the horse’s disappointing performance.

A post race veterinary examination of LEGAL DIVA, which tired badly over the final 500m, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.


Race 6: Queensland Council of Unions Class 1 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Marculoo 2nd – Feelin’ Fiesty 3rd – Hidden Rock 4th – Britaila Kate

SILENT NINJA (D. Griffin) began awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with MARCULOO (P. Hammersley).

CALCULATION (M. Vance), which was a little slow to begin, was crowded for room between HIDDEN ROCK (A. Pattillo) and KARL THE GREAT (G. Cooksley), both of which shifted ground.

GOLD SERPENT (T. Bell) was slow to begin.

Leaving the 1000m, CALCULATION (M. Vance) had to be steadied off the heels of FEELIN’ FIESTY (M. Gray), which shifted in.

Approaching the 800m, SILENT NINJA (D. Griffin) improved up onto the heels of JONDY TAAN (T. Harrison) and had to be steadied.

CALCULATION and GOLD SERPENT (T. Bell) raced wide for the majority of the race

Stewards questioned jockey G. Cooksley, rider of KARL THE GREAT, and its trainer K. Fleming regarding the riding of that horse over the final 400m. G. Cooksley stated that horse never travelled well at any stage throughout running and had a tendency to get its head up in the air and race ungenerously. He further added that as a result he was unable to fully test his mount in the straight. Trainer K. Fleming stated that the horse had not started for 4 weeks and was too fresh for today’s race. Stewards, after considering the matter, placed a warning on KARL THE GREAT regarding its racing manners, however did advise jockey Cooksley they did have concerns as to the reason why he took the horse back to the inside rather than remain wider on the track in the straight.

CLASS OF GOLD lost its near fore plate in running.


Race 7: CFMEU Mining & Energy QTIS 600 2yo Plate – 1100m
1st – Regular 2nd – Discreet 3rd – Obliviate 4th -Faliforme

Trainer R. Heathcote advised that HEZA JETSETTER would be ridden in a more forward position if circumstances permit. HEZA JETSETTER was subsequently slow to begin, resulting in the horse settling at the rear of the field.

The start of this race was delayed after BULLET ONE broke through the barriers. The horse however was quickly recaptured and after examination by the veterinary surgeon was passed fit to race. OBLIVIATE, which was in the adjoining stall to BULLET ONE, was also released from the barriers and after examination by the veterinary surgeon, OBLIVIATE was also cleared to start.

On return to scale, C. Munce, rider of the 2nd placegetter, DISCREET, lodge an objection against REGULAR being declared the winner, alleging interference over the final 100m of the race. After taking evidence from jockey C. Munce, K. Schweida, trainer of DISCREET, D. Griffin, rider of the REGULAR, and B. Guy, trainer of that horse, stewards were of the view that that whilst REGULAR had shifted out at that point, they could not be entirely satisfied that the effect of the shift on DISCREET had sufficient bearing on the result of the race to warrant a reversal of placings and therefore the protest was dismissed and correct weight semaphored on the Judge’s placings.

ARAGON (K. Forrester) was slow to begin.

PURE SHORES (J. Taylor) was tightened for room on jumping away between HEZA JETSETTER (K. Wharton) and MAFIA PRINCESS (S. Galloway),which shifted in after beginning awkwardly.

READ ALL ABOUT ME (R. Wiggins) began awkwardly.

REGULAR (D. Griffin) was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.


Near the 400m, BULLET ONE (P. Hammersley) was disappointed for a run between DISCREET and READ ALL ABOUT ME, which had a tendency to lay out.

READ ALL ABOUT ME (R. Wiggins), DISCREET (C. Munce) and FALLFORME (G. Colless) raced wide for the majority of the race.

GREENWOOD ECHO (L. Cassidy) was inclined to hang out for the majority of the race. Trainer N. Doyle was advised that GREENWOOD ECHO must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.

J. Taylor reported that he was disappointed with the performance of PURE SHORES and that consideration was being given to sending the horse for a spell.

A post race veterinary examination of ARAGON revealed the horse had been galloped on on the near fore canon and sustained a minor laceration.

FALLIFORME lost its off fore plate in running.

Race 8: CFMEU Minior & Energy Class 3 Plate – 1350m
1st – Run With Me 2nd – Kid Tycoon 3rd – Jam Fancy 4th - Neomagic

Leaving the 1200m, LITTLE ANTICS (G. Geran) had to be steadied off the heels of JAM FANCY (D. Griffin), which shifted in.

Near the 1000m, DARK CHARGER (K. Wharton) shifted in, tightening the running of RUN WITH ME (B. Stewart).

Approaching the 900m, LITTLE ANTICS (G. Geran) was crowded for room and had to be steadied when racing between KID TYCOON (P. Schmidt) and RUN WITH ME (B. Stewart). B. Stewart, rider of RUN WITH ME, was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in at this stage.

RUN WITH ME faltered nearing the 700m.

Approaching the 600m, LITTLE ANTICS was disappointed for a run between KID TYCOON and DIVERGENT (R. Wiggins).

RUN WITH ME was held up rounding the home turn for clear running.

Rounding the home turn, LITTLE ANTICS shifted out to improve and in doing so made contact wtih DIVERGENT, which in turn shifted out, making contact with VOCIFEROUS (G. Colless).

ON FACE VALUE (C. Munce) and CHUBBY CHIPMUNK (T. Bell) raced wide throughout.


Race 9: Retired Miners Class 3 Plate – 1350m
1st- Diet 2nd – Shanghai Bund 3rd – Equissential 4th – Castle Express

Connections advised that ZAMBONI would be ridden further back in the field due to the wide barrier. The horse was ridden accordingly.

LITTLE BROWN HORSE (J. Byrne) was tightened for room on jumping away between EQUISSENTIAL (S. Scriven) and DOBROS (P. Hammersley), both of which shifted ground.

ROCKIN’ ROXY (L. Rolls) was slow to begin.

Nearing the 900m, BLISSFUL HONOUR (C. Munce) was tightened for room when racing to the inside of CASTLE EXPRESS (G. Colless), which was taken in by BROADCAST (L. Finlay). L. Finay, rider of BROADCAST, was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in at this stage.

Approaching the 1000m, SHANGHAI BUND (G. Cooksley) shifted away from the rail and in doing so carried BROADCAST (L. Finlay), DOBROS and MITAYDEN (S. Galloway) wider on the track. G. Cooksley, rider of SHANGHAI BUND, was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.

ZAMBONI was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and until near the 150m.

DOBROS, MITAYUDEN, EQUISSENTIAL (S. Scriven) and TACKER (A. Pattillo) raced wide for the majority of the race.

BIG KEN THE CELT lost its off hind plate in running.


Race 10: ETU/BEW Solitarity Stakes Benchmark 85 H ‘cap – 1200m
1st – Felony Flight 2nd – Dollario 3rd – Funny Falve 4th- Fangles

IMA JOKER was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 8.50 am.

The start of this race was delayed as a result of FUNNY FALVE having to be resaddled.

HYDE PARK (A. Best) blundered on jumping away.

MOHAWK (W. Abbey) raced wide for the majority of the race.

When questioned regarding the performance of AQUATORIAL, J. Letherby stated that the horse travelled well in the early stages of the race but when asked for an effort over the latter stages appeared to struggle and, in his opinion, failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.

HYDE PARK lost its near fore plate in running.
