SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS
From Eagle Farm Saturday 19 April 2014 – Race 8: Trainer B Baldwin advised that HEART OF MANY, which pulled up after the race with a cough, underwent an endoscopic examination which revealed that the horse had mucous in its airways and as a consequence would now undergo treatment.
From Toowoomba Saturday 12 April 2014 – Race 6: Trainer B. Baldwin advised that THAT'S THE ONE has since been treated for general muscle soreness.
Race 1: XXXX GOLD MAIDEN H’CAP – 1100M
Correct weight race was delayed to afford the stewards and K. Yoshida, the rider of EARHART, which reared as the start was effected and lost considerable ground, the opportunity of viewing the film to ascertain whether that mare had been afforded a fair start. After viewing the videos, stewards and jockey Yoshida were satisfied that EARHART had not been denied a fair start and correct weight was declared on the numbers semaphored. Trainer R. Lipp was advised that a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of EARHART.
RAGE WITHIN (M. Cahill) raced wide throughout.
CLEVER ONE (T. Bell), which raced ungenerously in the early stages, then commenced to hang out from that point on.
TANZANITE (T. Harrison) was held up for clear running from rounding the home turn until a point leaving the 200m.
Near the 200m BLUE MINI (L. Cassidy) was disappointed for a run between ENTIRE SAVINGS (A. Holt) and CLEVER ONE, which shifted in.
Race 2: CHANNEL 7 F&M CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1350M
Shortly after the start STAR PASS (G. Colless) had to be restrained from the heels of SNAPCRACKLE (M. Cahill).
A FINE DROP OF RED (S. Payne) raced wide in the early and middle stages.
Stewards questioned apprentice S. Payne, the rider of A FINE DROP OF RED, regarding the tactics adopted in the early stages of the event. Apprentice Payne stated that after beginning well he was mindful of his instructions and attempted to restrain the horse in an endeavour to follow those instructions, however when runners to his inside improved up, forcing him to race three wide, he elected to push forward and race outside the leader.
A post-race veterinary examination of SNAPCRACKLE revealed the filly to have sustained a laceration to the off fore medial fetlock.
Race 3: SKY RACING WORLD QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1500M
Trainer R. Heathcote advised that he had instructed jockey K. Wharton to ride DUNGIVEN positively out of the gates.
NOTHING BUT GLORY (C. Kearney) and DUNGIVEN (K. Wharton) were slow to begin.
CARRY ME GEE GEE (J. Worley) began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped ROCBOLT (C. Munce), which was forced out on to CHINABOB (D. Missen), which was taken out on to HUSSYENDA (M. Cahill).
WITCHES WHICH (T. Harrison) overraced in the early and middle stages.
CARRY ME GEE GEE raced wide for the majority of the event.
Approaching the 100m PRETTY PICTURE (T. Bell) raced in restricted room for a short distance between ROCBOLT and HUSSYENDA, which shifted in. M. Cahill, the rider of HUSSYENDA, reported at scale that he lost the use of his offside rein at this point.
At the 200m DUNGIVEN was tightened for room between CARRY ME GEE GEE and CHINABOB, both of which shifted ground.
SAGA BOMB (R. Wiggins) was held up rounding the home turn.
A post-race veterinary examination of WITCHES WHICH revealed the filly to have a slower than normal post-race recovery rate.
A post-race veterinary examination of MUSTOLA GOLD (M. Hellyer) revealed no significant findings.
Race 4: SIRROMET CLASS 3 PLATE – 1200M
KILAWOMAN (R. Goltz) was slow to begin.
LADY OSCAR (C. Kearney) shifted in under pressure in the home straight.
Stewards afforded M. Cahill the opportunity to comment on the performance of DALTON. Jockey Cahill stated that his instructions were to position the horse to the outside in the home straight, however the gelding never travelled comfortably throughout the race and as a result he was unable to follow the instructions issued and was further of the opinion that DALTON may not have been suited by the firm conditions of today's track.
Race 5: IPSWICH CUP 14TH JUNE 2014 CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1666M
Leaving the 400m HEY FRISCO (J. Johnson) was held up on the heels of the tiring RACING IN THE WIND (S. Fawke).
Approaching the 200m RACING IN THE WIND shifted in and brushed the rail when racing in restricted room to the inside of REFUSTRESS (B. Ainsworth), which shifted in. Apprentice Ainsworth was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
Race 6: SCHWEPPES BM80 H’CAP – 1666M
PRIMARY COLOUR (T. Bell) was slow to begin.
ROYAL CONSORT (J. Taylor) raced wide in the early stages.
ELLIE LA VIE (T. Wolfgram) raced wide throughout.
EXTREME MOVER (S. Bogenhuber) was held up and unable to improve from a point near the 400m until the 200m.
A post-race veterinary examination of ROYAL CONSORT revealed the mare to have a slow post-race recovery.
Race 7: THE QUEENSLAND TIMES CLASS 5 H’CAP – 1100M
TORERO (S. Fawke) was slow to begin.
MISS CAITLYN (J. Worley), which was slow to begin, was further hampered when LOTTO HILL (T. Wolfgram) shifted in, making heavy contact with that runner.
Near the 1000m BLOODED (M. Hellyer) shifted in abruptly, inconveniencing MISS CAITLYN.
Leaving the 500m DWAN (S. Bogenhuber) raced in restricted room between MISS CAITLYN and LOTTO HILL, which shifted in. As a result, DWAN made heavy contact with the hind quarters of LOTTO HILL, resulting in LOTTO HILL becoming unbalanced. BLOODED, which was following, was inconvenienced.
A post-race veterinary examination of LOTTO HILL revealed no significant findings.
BLOODED lost its near hind plate in running.
When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on TORERO, which raced in a more forward position than its most recent starts, trainer's representative S. Morrisey stated that the instructions at its past runs have always been to race forward, however at its last start the race did not suit and the gelding settled further back than expected. Stewards reminded Mr Morrisey of his obligation to advise them should it be intended to ride the horse in a manner different from the way in which it was ridden at its most recent start or starts.
Race 8: CITY OF IPSWICH C,G&E CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1350M
CUBIC INCHES (A. Allen) was slow to begin.
GUNS BLAZING (J. Byrne) and HUXTABLE (R. Ride) bumped on jumping.
Near the 1200m HUXTABLE and SPIHRO (R. Vigar) were tightened for room between PORTLAND PUZZLE (B. Appo) and GUNS BLAZING, which was inclined to lay out.
PURRFECTLYFEARLESS (T. Harrison) raced wide throughout.
Approaching the 600m PLUGGER (M. Cahill) had to be steadied from the heels of HUXTABLE. PARTY SPIN (T. Wolfgram), which was following, also had to be steadied and as a result that runner's saddle slipped forward, resulting in PARTY SPIN taking no further competitive part in the race.
Rounding the home turn GUNS BLAZING had to be steadied from the heels of SPIHRO, which shifted in. Apprentice R. Vigar, the rider of SPIHRO, was reprimanded for this incident.
Rounding the home turn CONNOLLY (M. McGuren) shifted in and had to be eased from the heels of LEVER LEVER (G. Colless).
Approaching the 200m SPIHRO shifted in and crowded the running of HUXTABLE for a short distance.
