GENERAL

As S. Galloway was injured, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Race 1: RAY WHITE IPSWICH DASH CLASS 6 PLATE – 1100M

Connections advised that LA TIKKA ROSA (J. Byrne), which went forward at its last start, would be ridden back in the field today. The horse was ridden accordingly.

Prior to the start LUCKY BAA (E. Wilkinson) brushed the front gate, which opened. The veterinary surgeon was satisfied that LUCKY BAA had suffered no injury and was allowed to start.

TIME TO PLUNDER (A. Holt) was slow to begin.

Near the 900m CRAIGLEA MASTA (A. Allen) had to be steadied when racing to the inside of FRENCH COMMAND (T. Harrison), which shifted in.

FOUR STRINGS (M. Bennett) raced three wide without cover.

Rounding the home turn CHALUPA (J. Taylor) had to be restrained from the heels of I'M COOL (M. Cahill).

TIME TO PLUNDER was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

A post-race veterinary examination of LENNIE'S CHOICE (C. Munce) revealed the gelding to have a slower than normal post-race recovery.

A post-race veterinary examination of I'M COOL revealed that the gelding had bled from the offside nostril. Trainer D. Forster was advised that I'M COOL must perform satisfactorily in a gallop over 1000m in the presence of a steward prior to being permitted to resume racing.

Race 2: SIRROMET WINES BUNDAMBA PLATE QTIS 2YO H’CAP – 1100M

VIENNA ROYALE (J. Byrne) stood flat-footed at the start and lost considerable ground. Trainer T. Gollan was advised that a warning would be placed against the gelding's racing manners.

CELESTIAL DRAGON (T. Bell) began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped PINCH RIVER (A. Holt).

VELOZ (K. Yoshida) and CASINO GOLD (J. Taylor) bumped on jumping and as a result CASINO GOLD then shifted out and made contact with TEO'S BELLE (D. Dunn).

PARTY TILL DAWN (C. Munce), which was slow into stride, then raced ungenerously in the early stages and had to be restrained from the heels of CASINO GOLD near the 900m.

Over the concluding stages CASINO GOLD had to be steadied when tightened for room between PARTY TILL DAWN, which shifted in, and VIENNA ROYALE, which shifted out under pressure. Jockey J. Byrne was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

When questioned regarding the performance of CELESTIAL DRAGON, T. Bell stated that although he had to pressure the horse to obtain the lead, this may have been a telling factor over the final stages, however, he was not entirely disappointed with the gelding's performance.

Race 3: OPTUS BUSINESS CENTRE IPSWICH MILE BM85 H’CAP – 1666M

FERMENT (A. Holt) began awkwardly.

EXTREME MOVER (S. Bogenhuber) raced three wide without cover throughout.

REVITALISE (A. Butler) was held up rounding the home turn until a point near the 200m where it was obliged to shift back to the inside to obtain clear running.

FERMENT lost its off hind plate in running.

Race 4: QUEENSLAND TIMES PROVINCIAL CUP H’CAP – 2150M

Trainer B. Laming advised that it would be the intention to have THE INVENTOR (M. Cahill) ridden in a forward position if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.

The bandages on GUNS BLAZING were removed when they became loose prior to the start.

Correct weight was delayed to allow connections of 4th placegetter HOW FAIRDINKUM (A. Allen) to view the stewards' patrol footage.

On jumping away TANZINA (S. Bogenhuber) and WISHMORE (C. Munce) were tightened for room between ONGOING VENTURE (B. Stewart) and CAPTAIN FASTBUCK (R. McMahon), which shifted out.

GUNS BLAZING (L. Tarrant) began awkwardly and made contact with ADENARIUS (A. Butler).

ISAVENGER (V. Colgan) began awkwardly and lost ground.

Near the 1900m ONGOING VENTURE had to be restrained after improving on to the heels of HOW FAIRDINKUM.

ONGOING VENTURE was held up rounding the home turn.

Near the 300m SAMSILI (T. Bell) was buffeted and tightened for room between THE INVENTOR and HOW FAIRDINKUM, which shifted in and bumped the hind quarters of SAMSILI, resulting in HOW FAIRDINKUM becoming unbalanced.

M. Cahill, the rider of THE INVENTOR, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that inside the 200m he permitted his mount to shift out when not fully clear of SAMSILI, which was taken out on to HOW FAIRDINKUM, resulting in SAMSILI having to be checked. M. Cahill's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, to commence at midnight on Saturday 21 June and expire at midnight on Wednesday 2 July 2014.

A post-race veterinary examination of TAX REBATE (J. Byrne) revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer P. Duff was advised that he will be required to produce a veterinary clearance for TAX REBATE prior to the horse being permitted to start again.

A. Butler (ADENARIUS) was fined $300 for using the whip in a forehand manner more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

Race 5: SKY RACING WATERHOUSE CLASSIC F&M H’CAP – 1350M

Near the 1000m CENTREPET (J. Taylor) had to be steadied when overracing to the inside of TUKIYO (V. Colgan), which was taken in by JAZZ SONG (J. Byrne).

AVALADYLUCK (A. Butler) and CUDDLESOME (B. Stewart) raced wide throughout.

Over the concluding stages DISCREET (C. Munce) raced in restricted room between the tiring PICKABEE (T. Bell) and CUDDLESOME, which shifted in slightly.

Apprentice T. Harrison (ENDLESS SHADOW) reported at scale that her mount overraced in the early stages.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of PICKABEE, T. Bell stated that the mare travelled well throughout until the pace steadied mid-race and the mare had a tendency to overrace. Jockey Bell added that the mare was having its first start in 4 weeks and may have peaked on its run over the concluding stages.

DISCREET shifted its off fore plate in running.

Race 6: CITY OF IPSWICH EYE LINER STAKES H’CAP – 1350M

JETSET LAD (A. Allen) was slow to begin.

ELLAWISDOM (R. McMahon) began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped INTO THE RED (J. Taylor), forcing INTO THE RED in on to BLACK CASH (M. Cahill).

Approaching the 1000m INTO THE RED was buffeted and made heavy contact with BLACK CASH when racing between that runner and STEEL ZIP (B. Stewart), which shifted in.

B. Stewart, the rider of STEEL ZIP, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that after leaving the 1000m he permitted his mount to improve to the inside of the heels of PLAYITSTRAIGHT (D. Dunn), resulting in severe tightening to INTO THE RED (J. Taylor), and approaching the 900m STEEL ZIP further tightened the running of INTO THE RED, which was forced to check. B. Stewart's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 meetings, to commence at midnight on Saturday 21 June and expire at midnight on Thursday 3 July. In this incident MASTHEAD (C. Munce), ELLAWISDOM (R. McMahon) and PHELAN READY (E. Wilkinson), which were following, were all checked to varying degrees.

M. Cahill was afforded the opportunity to comment on the performance of BLACK CASH. Jockey Cahill stated that after receiving interference near the 1000m and again near the 600m, the gelding then failed to respond to his riding from a point near the 400m, however added that in the circumstances, as a result of the interference sustained, he was not entirely disappointed with the run. A post-race veterinary examination of BLACK CASH revealed no significant findings.

A post-race veterinary examination of INTO THE RED revealed that the gelding had galloped on itself on the near foreleg.

Race 7: CHANNEL 7 IPSWICH CUP H’CAP – 2150M

VOLKHERE (T. Bell) dislodged its rider during the preliminary. VOLKHERE was examined by the veterinary surgeon upon arrival at the barriers and was cleared to start.

GARUD (M. Cahill) and CATALONIA (G. Goold) made contact at the start.

DIENEKES (J. Johnson) stood flat-footed at the start and lost ground.

BRAYROAN (C. Munce) was slow to begin.

STELLA LANTE (R. McMahon), which was overracing in the early stages, shifted out and was allowed to stride forward at a point near the 1400m, where it was caught wide and then raced wide for some distance.

Near the 1600m GARUD was tightened for room when racing to the inside of ANGOLA (A. Butler), which was overracing.

DIENEKES was held up rounding the home turn.

A post-race veterinary examination of STELLA LANTE, which tailed off, revealed no significant findings.

Race 8: SCHWEPPES T.L. COONEY QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 1350M

Trainer B. Guy was fined $100 for failing to declare apprentice J. Johnson as the rider of SANTOYA CAT by the prescribed time.

BRADY 'N' ME (D. Dunn) began awkwardly and made heavy contact with WALKIN' TALL (T. Bell).

SMART HUSS (R. McMahon) began awkwardly and lost ground.

Near the 1200m FEROCITY FAIR (T. Harrison) had to be steadied to the inside of FRIENDLY DRAGON (B. Stewart), which shifted in. As a result, FEROCITY FAIR overraced for a short distance.

Near the 1000m FRIENDLY DRAGON had to be eased from the heels of SANTOYA CAT (J. Johnson), which was overracing and also had to be restrained when taken in by WALKIN' TALL. Shortly after, SANTOYA CAT continued to overrace and shifted wider on the track. Although stewards accepted that SANTOYA CAT was overracing, they nonetheless reprimanded T. Bell (WALKIN' TALL) and advised him that in future he should ensure he is fully clear when shifting ground.

L'ENTRECOTE (J. Byrne) was held up rounding the home turn and approaching the 200m shifted out, inconveniencing MR JETSET (L. Cassidy).

DO A DABL DOYA (J. Taylor) hung out and raced wide rounding the home turn.

T. Bell reported at scale that WALKIN' TALL, which led today, would be better suited racing with cover.

A post-race veterinary examination of WALKIN' TALL revealed the gelding to have been galloped on on the near hind leg.
