RACE 1: NUGROW QTIS 2YO H’CAP – 800M

BURN NOTICE – G. Geran was reprimanded for using the whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.

ARGYLL BAY – Tightened for room near the 700m and had to be steadied. Hung out rounding the home turn.

CAPTAIN'S ANGEL – Tightened for room near the 700m and had to be steadied. G. Geran, the rider of BURN NOTICE, was advised to exercise more care.

SPRING TIDE – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Had to be steadied leaving the 400m when awkwardly placed at the heels of ASTARAC, which shifted in.

RACE 2: SAVIGE PEST CONTROL MAIDEN H’CAP – 1350M

PILLSBURY LANE – Bumped at the start.

PREMIERE PLACE – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost ground. Trainer B. Guy was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse's barrier manners.

ROYAL ILLUSION – When afforded the opportunity to comment on the horse's performance, apprentice J. Orman stated that the mare had a tendency to overrace in the early and middle stages, however was entitled to finish the race off better than it did. He added that the mare was making a slight abnormal respiratory noise. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

ZAHEEB – Tightened for room at the start.

GREY OPINION – Shifted out at the start and bumped another runner. Shifted out to improve near the 700m, forcing another runner wider on the track.

JACK ATTACK – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event.

RITZY'S COMMAND – Forced four wide near the 700m and raced four wide for the remainder of the event. Inclined to lay in under pressure for the majority of the home straight.

WOOLOOMAN SKY – Held up from the 600m and unable to improve until near the 400m when shifted wider to obtain clear running.


RACE 3: SAMMUT BULOW ACCOUNTANTS & BUSINESS ADVISORS CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1680M

As M. Cahill was to be overweight, J. Byrne was substituted as the rider of SPEEDY GRAPHITO. M. Cahill was fined $100.

SECRET TRYST – Inconvenienced near the 150m when SLALOM shifted in.

CHILLY PREDICTION – Bumped on jumping away.

WORLD SERIES – Had to be steadied near the 1400m when tightened for room by BROCSON, which shifted in.

SLALOM – When asked to comment on the horse's improved performance, trainer B. Sturgess explained that he had expected a forward showing at the horse's last start at Warwick, however he was disappointed with the manner in which the horse was ridden when positioned back in the field and wide from a poor barrier draw and was held up early in the straight. He added that he was expecting a forward showing today however was surprised that the gelding was able to win today's event, given the step up in class. Stewards noted the explanation.

RACE 4: TRU-FLOW SERVICES CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1200M

LISTANERA – Tightened for room near the 1000m. Momentarily tightened for room near the 850m and then a short distance later had to be steadied from the heels of CARRIAGES, which shifted in when not fully clear. T. Harrison, the rider of CARRIAGES, was issued with a reprimand and advised to give greater clearance in similar circumstances. Held up rounding the home turn and then near the 400m shifted out and in doing so tightened the running of TRIPLE JEOPARDY.

CARRIAGES – Caught wide in the early stages and then allowed to stride forward to take up a position in the lead near the 700m.

 
RACE 5: BLUSH MAIDEN H’CAP – 1100M

AFTON PRINCE – Shifted in at the start and made contact with MJOLNIR. Raced three wide without cover.

DODGE THE PRESS – Inconvenienced a short distance after the start.

I CHOSE FREEDOM – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Inconvenienced a short distance after the start. Raced wide throughout.

JET SPURRING – When asked to comment on the horse's performance, apprentice M. McGillivray stated that he was instructed to ride positively out of the gates and take up a forward position, however after travelling a short distance, he was unable to improve to a forward position as the runners to his outside had crossed and he was obliged to race in a midfield position with cover. He added that the filly raced greenly throughout and may not have been comfortable on the soft track conditions. He further added that in his opinion the filly may have got its tongue over the bit and may have choked down, and he had recommended to connections to experiment with the addition of a tongue tie for its next start. Connections advised that they may experiment with a tongue control bit or a tongue tie before changing the horse's gear.

SPIRIT OF KIOWA – Slow to begin and was then hampered shortly after.

SILHOUETTA – Began awkwardly. Raced four wide without cover. Apprentice B. Derbyshire reported at scale that her mount hung out throughout the event and was then eased out of the race near the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off fore hoof. Trainer M. Reynolds was advised that he will be required to produce a veterinary clearance prior to the horse racing again.

GREY GLITTER – Hung out rounding the home turn.

TRIPLE WON – Raced wide throughout. Approaching the 200m had to be steadied from the heels of AFTON PRINCE, which shifted out abruptly when racing greenly.

RACE 6: BENDIGO BANK F&M CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1100M

POMPEII FLYER – Held up inside the 100m and went to the line without being fully tested.

REAL EYES – Connections advised that from the wide barrier the horse would be ridden in a rearward position. The horse was ridden accordingly. Held up rounding the home turn.

DESTINED FOR WAR – Trainer T. Bailey advised that the horse would now be retired from his stable following today's disappointing performance.

RACE 7: IPSWICH CITY COUNCIL C,G&E CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1100M

ARCHYTAS – Raced three wide.

AMERICAN HERO – Improved into a narrow run between CONFRONTING and NEE DE PAPA when overracing near the 850m and as a result was placed in restricted room and had to be restrained for a short distance until leaving the 800m. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight and approaching the 200m was disappointed for a run between NEE DE PAPA and TAHITIAN PRINCE. Was then held up for the remainder of the event and went to the line without being fully tested.

CONFRONTING – Slow to begin.

APPLE JACK – Slow to begin.

POWER DE TED – Raced four wide.

CALCETINES – Slow to begin.

RIDGES PRIDE – Raced wide throughout.

RACE 8: SWICHETTES CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1350M

VA VA VENI – Shifted out to secure clear running rounding the home turn and in doing so bumped BECKONING LIGHT.

DIDDY WIN DIDDY – Inclined to lay out rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.

BECKONING LIGHT – Raced three wide without cover.

PERFECT STAR – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

JOLIE MADELEINE – J. Lloyd reported that his mount was inclined to overrace in the early and middle stages.

SWEET CRACKER – Shifted out at the start and bumped ONE MORE CHANCE.

DIAGNOSE – Raced wide throughout.

HALL OF PEACE – Had to be restrained from heels when overracing near the 1000m.
