RACE 1: IPSWICH LITTLE THEATRE RATINGS BAND 0-65 H'CAP – 800M

HIZOU – Trainer P. Sexton was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the horse by the prescribed time. Began awkwardly.

JEPTOO – After arriving at the barriers the mare got its tongue over the bit on a number of occasions, resulting in the bridle having to be refitted. After being fractious in the barriers, began very awkwardly, bumped and lost ground.

CAPTAIN EYCHE – Slow to begin and then shifted in and bumped JEPTOO.  Hung out rounding the home turn. Had to be eased approaching the 100m when disappointed for a run and as a result was not fully tested over the concluding stages.

JERALY – Steadied at the start.  Taken wider on the home turn.

FAVOURITE SHADOW – Stewards inquired into the reason for apprentice R. Payne being dislodged near the 400m. It was established that approaching the 400m, FAVOURITE SHADOW, when racing on the fence,  made contact with the running rail on a couple of occasions before being placed in restricted room to the inside of ISSY COMMAND.   A short distance later, FAVOURITE SHADOW blundered of its own accord when racing in restricted room, resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced in the saddle and eventually being dislodged. Stewards were of the view that no one rider was careless and therefore took no action other than to report the incident.   Apprentice Payne was cleared by the ambulance officers following this incident.

ROYAL HOOTENANNY – After passing the winning post and on pulling up jockey Orman was dislodged near the 1500m. Subsequently jockey Orman was examined by the ambulance officers and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.

DRAGON STREET – Raced wide throughout without cover.

RACE 2: BOOK NOW FOR FESTIVE BUFFET MAIDEN H'CAP – 1000M

The start of this race was delayed considerably when TWILIGHT MANEUVER reared, dislodging J. Morris before becoming loose and trotting up to the back of the 1350m chute.  The gelding was subsequently, examined by the veterinary surgeon and was cleared to start.  After being loaded into the barriers the gelding became fractious and reared over in its stall.  After being removed, it was  again examined by the veterinary surgeon and deemed not fit to start and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2.21 pm.  Following the event all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded with the below deductions applicable.

21 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
11 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets on the winner
23 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets
20 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets

Starting prices subject to deduction

Jockey J. Morris sustained an ankle injury in this incident and was stood down from his remaining engagement on Guyforx in Race 4 and was replaced by R. Goltz.  Jockey Morris was advised he would be required to provide a medical clearance prior to riding again.

S. Lawlor, trainer of TWILIGHT MANEUVER,  was advised that the gelding would be required to pass an official barrier trial prior to racing again.

HIDONAL – Slow to begin.  Had to be eased near the 100m when placed in restricted room and as a result was not fully tested to the finish of the race.

KATARINA – Slow to begin.

LITTLE ALBERT – Tightened for room shortly after the start.

STILL WAITING – Had to be steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of CURRENT FIGURES, which shifted in near the 800m. Jockey M. Hellyer reported at scale his mount was inclined to lay out for the majority of the home straight, proving difficult to ride.

GOOD GRACIOUS MAE – Shifted out under pressure near the  300m and brushed  SACROMONTE.

SACROMONTE – Brushed near the 300m.

CURRENT FIGURES – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

RACE 3: CHRISTMAS PARTIES AT ITC RATINGS BAND 0-65 H’CAP – 1666M

MA RAISON – Slow to begin.

BERNITCHY – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, jockey R. Fradd stated that he had no specific instructions other than to have the gelding travelling  comfortably.  Jockey Fradd added that he envisioned he would be racing in the first half of the field however once ANNIHILATION had improved forward he was content  with the tempo that was being set and therefore elected to race further back than anticipated with cover.

BO ROSSA – Apprentice M. Shimodaira, rider of MA RAISON,  pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that over the concluding stages when the mare was inclined to shift in under pressure, he allowed it to further shift in when insufficiently clear of BO ROSSA, resulting in jockey S. Bogenhuber having to take hold of that mare  to avoid the heels of MA RAISON. Apprentice Shimodaira was suspended from riding in races for a period of 8 days, to commence at midnight, 13 November and to expire at midnight, 21 November.

Stewards questioned jockey S. Bogenhuber regarding her riding of BO ROSSA,  particularly from the 500m as to whether there was an opportunity to shift to the outside to obtain clear running.   Jockey Bogenhuber stated that whilst at the 500m the mare was travelling strongly, she was of the opinion  that she was unable to shift out as she was  racing to the inside of the heels of SONGSPUR and  therefore elected to stay positioned one off the fence in an  attempt to obtain clear running back to the inside once rounding the home turn.  Jockey Bogenhuber added that in hindsight  it may have been a better option to have made a greater attempt to shift out when approaching the home turn to obtain clear running instead of  maintaining the position she did as she was unable to secure  clear running for the majority of the home straight.  Stewards noted jockey Bogenhuber's explanation.

RACE 4: RAY WHITE IPSWICH MAIDEN PLATE – 1350M

KINGFISHER BAY – Trainer M. Frappell was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the horse by the prescribed time.

GUADALUPE – Slow to begin.

FRENCH DESCENT – Slow to begin.

BACCARA – Shifted out abruptly shortly after the start. Rounding the 600m turn hung out and lost ground and then continued to weaken.  Raced wide for the majority of the race.  A post race veterinary examination  revealed the filly to be lame in the off hind leg. Trainer B. Mason was advised that a veterinary certificate must be provided for the filly prior to its next race start.

GUYFORX – Raced wide in the early stages and allowed to stride forward to obtain a position outside  the leader near the 1000m.  Commenced to weaken from the 500m.

CONQUERING KATE – Held up rounding the home turn.

RACE 5: QLD TIMES CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1100m

HOT GOSSIP – Declared a late scratching at 8.26 am on 10 November  when it was established that due to an error by Racing Australia the horse was not an acceptor  for this race.  Mr Sears was advised that no fee would apply for the acceptance  and scratching of the mare.

CHOPHOUSE TEARS – Slow to begin.

HUSSY ROCKSTAR – Restrained shortly after the start to take up a rearward position.

RALPH THE DRAGON – Raced 3 wide without cover.

CASSE BLEU – When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance, trainer D. White stated that the mare was having its first start under his care as he had only recently acquired a trainer's licence. He added that the only explanation he could put forward was that the mare raced extremely wide at its last start and felt this had an effect on its performance.

RACE 6: MARCELFORD MEATS CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1350M

The start was delayed after MISS JAMAICA  got its off hind leg caught on the back partition.  The horse was removed from the gates, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.

AKACHETA LEE – Stood flatfooted at the start and lost ground.

BACKSLAPPER – Slow to begin.

ZOU DER ZEE –  When afforded the opportunity to comment on the performance, jockey M. Hellyer stated that his instructions were to be in a forward position however after being slow to begin he settled further back than anticipated. He added the gelding in his opinion failed to run out the 1350 metres of today's event and would be better suited to races over  short distances than that of today's event.

GOTTA CHANCE – Raced 3 wide without cover.

MR PENNYPACKER – Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority of the race.
