THE GRINGO – Held up from the 500m until straightening. SPORTSTAR SAMUEL – Restrained at the start to take a position at the rear of the field. Had a tendency to lay in under pressure approaching the 150m. BARBARA OF SEVILLE – Finished a distant last. When questioned, rider P. Romeo stated that the mare travelled reasonably well in the early stages of the event however, after passing the 1000m when the pace quickened slightly, failed to maintain a position on the back of the field and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be making some slight abnormal breathing noise, which could be consistent with a lung infection. Trainer S. Boyd was advised that the mare will require a veterinary clearance and that he must produce the results of an endoscopic examination prior to the horse's next start. Mr Boyd was also advised that a warning would be placed on the mare for its poor performance. RACE 2: SAMMUT BULOW QTIS 3YO CLASS 1 H’CAP – 800M Trainer B. Smith was fined $100 for the late declaration of S. Fawke as the rider of GOLOVKIN. The start of this race was delayed when A SNIP OF CAPTAIN required farrier attention behind the barriers. A SNIP OF CAPTAIN – Had to be steadied passing the winning post when in restricted room between GOLOVKIN and ARNHEM BEAUTY, both of which shifted ground slightly. NORTHERN WINGS – Had a tendency to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages, placing the rider at a disadvantage. RACE 3: ARTICULATE FRAMING CLASS 1 H’CAP – 800M DIDACHE – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped another runner. Raced greenly in the home straight and approaching the winning post shifted out and bumped CLANDESTINE AFFAIR. SOPHIA'S MAGIC – Raced three wide without cover throughout. CLANDESTINE AFFAIR – Hampered at the start when bumped by DIDACHE, which shifted out after beginning awkwardly. Bumped approaching the winning post. RACE 4: AUSSIE AZZ CONCRETE SOLUTIONS CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1350M BACHELOR HEIR – Held up from the 500m and was unable to find clear running until approaching the 250m. JILL'S CHARM – Placed in restricted room at the 1200m when bumped by OUTBACK CARLSON which after initially shifting in was obliged to shift back out to provide clearance to a runner to the inside. PRINCESS CHARM – Wanted to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages. GREY NOT BLACK – Began awkwardly and shifted out. The veterinary surgeon reported that the horse had blood in its mouth post-race due to a loose tooth. OUTBACK CARLSON – Performed uncompetitively. Trainer L. Richardson was questioned regarding the horse's performance and stated that in his opinion the gelding performs best on softer tracks and in light of today's performance he would recommend to the owners that the gelding be retired. Mr Richardson was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse's performance. RACE 5: ODDI'S ANGELS MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M As R. Wiggins was injured, D. Griffin was substituted as the rider of THE EXHIBITIONIST. Trainer B. Robinson was fined $100 for the late declaration of J. Hoopert as the rider of DEWEY BLUES. ARROGANT BOY – Slow to begin, then restrained before improving to a position closer to the rail. Shifted out to obtain clear running approaching the 500m and bumped another runner. DEWEY BLUES – Began awkwardly and was then bumped by LUJAC, which also began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced wide without cover. LUJAC – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped another runner. A. Spinks reported that his mount had a tendency to hang out after passing the 700m and did so for the remainder of the event. On returning to the enclosure it was found that the bubble cheeker had been displaced. KAIZARI – Had to be steadied off heels at the 800m. Bumped by another runner approaching the 500m. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running from passing the 300m until approaching the 100m. LITTLE ALBERT – Had to be steadied shortly after the start when tightened for room by ORQUESTA, which shifted in abruptly. Overraced in the early stages. RACE 6: ABSOLUTE CONCRETE SOLUTIONS CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1100M RED REASON – Underwent a veterinary examination at the barriers and was passed fit to start. Severely checked and lost its position near the 350m when PENNY A PITCH shifted in when not sufficiently clear. Apprentice M. Schrapel, the rider of PENNY A PITCH, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift in whilst losing ground at that point, causing the interference to RED REASON. Apprentice Schrapel's licence to ride in races was suspended for 11 days, to commence at midnight on 26 November and expire at midnight on Wednesday 7 December 2016. ZENDAYE – Slow into stride. Shortly after the start had to be checked off the heels of THE BURGLAR which was laying in and away from HIGHWAY QUEEN. When questioned, R. Fradd stated that after being slow into stride and being severely checked, the gelding raced further back than he would have liked, and then approaching the home turn he had to alter course when in restricted room, which forced him to lose some momentum at that point of the race, however the gelding then finished the race off quite well over the concluding stages and in his opinion would be better suited in races longer than that of today's event. Stewards noted his comments. RALPH THE DRAGON – At the 800m had to be steadied off the heels of HIGHWAY QUEEN which shifted in to obtain the lead. Apprentice A. Fancourt, the rider of HIGHWAY QUEEN, was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground. STEWARDS RACE DAY SUMMARY Summary of action concerning licensees FinesRace 2. Tnr. B.
