RACE 1: GO EVERYTHING CABINETS & CONSTRUCTIONS CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1200M
 
WINNING ACCORD – J. Lloyd reported that his mount laid in under pressure for the majority of the home straight.
 
ARROGANT BOY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Jockey J. Orman reported at scale that his mount never travelled comfortably throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
MISHANI PHOENIX – Near the 800m had to be steadied momentarily from the heels of WINNING ACCORD, which was inclined to lay in.
 
TE RANGI – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to GOOD 3.
 
RACE 2: SAVCO VEGETATION SERVICES F&M MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M
 
FAST SUN – Began awkwardly. Bumped near the 900m and became unbalanced.
 
ORQUESTA – Trainer S. Kendrick was fined $100 for the late declaration of A. Sewell as rider.
 
CHEAP DATE – Shifted in abruptly near the 900m, making contact with FAST SUN, which became unbalanced. Jockey L. Cassidy was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. When questioned regarding the horse's disappointing performance, jockey Cassidy stated that the filly had worked well and had pleased him in its recent jump-outs and as a consequence he was expecting a forward showing today, however after travelling comfortably in the early and middle stages the filly was most disappointing over the concluding stages.
 
AVERNA MOUNTAIN – Slow to begin.
 
HEY HEY MY MY – Shifted out to obtain clear running approaching the home turn and in doing so forced MIZARU wider.
 
MIZARU – Forced wider approaching the home turn.
 
RACE 3: K&R PLUMBING SUPPLIES CAROMA C,G&E MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M
 
SIZZLE – Hampered on jumping away. Raced wide throughout.
 
MOONLIGHT RAIN – Began awkwardly and shifted out. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey Orman explained that his instructions were to obtain a forward position with cover, however after complying with these instructions the gelding was under pressure leaving the 700m and failed to respond to his riding. Jockey Orman added that in his opinion the gelding may be better suited when able to obtain a soft lead and in races over distances longer than that of today's event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
A LITTLE WICKED – As the gelding had not raced for more than 12 months, it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to race.
 
BRAIN ON FIRE – Bumped shortly after the start.
 
MIGHTY IRISH – Slow into stride. Had to be steadied approaching the 50m and was obliged to shift out to obtain clear running when making ground.
 
KAIZARI – Bumped shortly after the start. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Commenced to overrace for a short distance approaching and passing the 900m when attempting to obtain cover.
 
LITTLE ALBERT – Hampered on jumping away. Overraced badly in the early stages and as a result was unable to obtain cover and raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
RACE 4: K&R PLUMBING SUPPLIES RHEEM QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1350M
 
DEWEY BLUES – Bumped with another runner on jumping away. Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering mild heat stress.
 
KIRIN'S LAD – Bumped with another runner on jumping away. Had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of YOU ANGEL YOU approaching the 1100m.
 
MINNI MAI – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, jockey G. Goold stated that his instructions were to be positive out of the wide barrier and settle in a forward position. He added that after travelling a short distance, he was of the view that he was going to be caught wide and therefore he elected to allow his mount to stride forward and take up the lead. Stable representative G. Doughty confirmed the instructions. Stewards reminded G. Doughty of his obligation to advise stewards if it is the intention to have the horse ridden differently to the manner in which it was ridden in previous starts.
 
DANCING DERINA – Jumped in the air at the start. B. Grylls reported at scale that her instructions were to lead and after beginning awkwardly, in an effort to comply with these instructions, she pressured her mount in the early stages, however was unable to obtain the lead and was obliged to race three wide without cover for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
SKYLIGHT – As R. Goltz was indisposed due to injury, J. Lloyd was substituted as rider. Had to be steadied near the 200m when ROCKSAY shifted out when not fully clear. G. Colless, the rider of ROCKSAY, was issued with a reprimanded.
 
THE DRUM BEATS ON – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
YOU ANGEL YOU – Near the 1000m had to be steadied from the heels of SKYLIGHT, which shifted in when overracing.
 
RACE 5: K&R PLUMBING SUPPLIES VINIDEX CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1010M
 
The start of this race was delayed when IN HER HAND required farrier attention.
 
The start was further delayed when BOLD GYPSY became fractious in its barrier, was removed, underwent a veterinary examination and subsequently cleared to start.
 
CAPTAIN EYCHE – Held up from rounding the home turn until approaching the 200m after shifting out across heels to obtain clear running.
 
AMARDANTE – Raced wide throughout.
 
THAT'S DESPICABLE – Bumped with another runner at the start. Raced wide throughout.
 
DAVE'S VALOUR – Raced wide throughout.
 
EVE'S JET – Bumped with another runner at the start. Had to be restrained from heels approaching the home turn. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
IN HER HAND – Bumped with another runner at the start. Had to be restrained from heels leaving the 800m.
 
BOLD GYPSY – Bumped with another runner at the start. Raced wide throughout.
 
APPLE JACK – Held up in the early part of the home straight and was unable to improve until a point approaching the 200m and a short distance later had to be steadied from the heels of IN HER HAND and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
DR QUINCY – Laid in under pressure for the majority of the home straight.
 
RACE 6: K&R PLUMBING SUPPLIES RELIANCE RQ SUMMER PROV. SERIES (HEAT) BM 75 H’CAP – 1350M
 
CORNROW – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
BORIS BADENOV – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Hampered near the 800m after avoiding another runner.
 
DANDY ONE – Broke down badly in the nearside hind leg near the 800m. The veterinary surgeon reported that the gelding sustained a fracture to the near hind leg and was euthanased on humane grounds.
 
JUST AS LOYAL – Began awkwardly. Hampered and forced wider near the 800m as a result of a runner breaking down.
 
CHAMPAGNE ROCK – Had to be checked near the 800m to avoid another runner.
 
HELLAROO – Raced three wide without cover.
 
TEMPLE TILT – Had to be checked near the 800m as a result of a runner breaking down. When questioned regarding the tactics and the overall performance, jockey J. Lloyd stated that his instructions were to settle in a midfield position, however the gelding failed to show sufficient speed in the early stages to obtain this position and as a result he settled further back than anticipated. Jockey Lloyd further expressed his disappointment in the performance and could offer no tangible explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
