GALWAY TOWN – Shifted out to improve near the 700m and raced three wide without cover from that point on.

LITTLE MISS ROCKER – Apprentice A. Sewell could offer no tangible explanation for the mare's disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. A swab sample was taken.

MINIVER – Momentarily held up near the 400m.

BEER 'N' BARMAID – Slow to begin.

Race 2: THE QLD TIMES C,G&E CLASS 3 PLATE – 1350M

LONNERO – Stewards questioned jockey S. Doyle regarding the tactics he adopted whereby his mount raced wide throughout in a small field. Jockey Doyle stated that his instructions were to lead, however the gelding, after beginning only fairly, failed to show sufficient speed despite his urgings to take up the lead and as a result raced wide throughout. He added that in hindsight it may have been a better option attempting to restrain when racing wide in an endeavour to obtain cover. He further added that the gelding was under pressure leaving the 700m and proved disappointing over the concluding stages.

DEUS – Began awkwardly.

Race 3: SKY RACING F&M BENCHMARK 62 H'CAP – 1200M

FORBIDDEN KISSES – Overraced for a short distance passing the 1000m. Taken across the heels of RED HANDLE over the concluding stages and had to be severely checked to avoid that runner's heels. R. Fradd, the rider of BO ROSSA, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that over the concluding stages he allowed his mount to shift in whilst under pressure and being ridden along, resulting in FORBIDDEN KISSES being taken across heels and having to be checked. R. Fradd's licence to ride in races was suspended for 14 days, to commence at midnight on Sunday 26 February and expire at midnight on Sunday 12 March 2017.

BO ROSSA – After shifting in over the concluding stages and causing interference to another runner, the rider was obliged to stop riding and straighten his mount, preventing him from fully testing his mount to the line.

HANNAH'S WISH – Late scratching at 1:18 pm for veterinary reasons.

MAGIC MOUSE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

Race 4: GRANDVIEW STUD C,G&E MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M

The start of this race was delayed when BROTHER OATEL broke through the front of the barriers, cantered a short distance, was restrained and returned behind the barriers and subsequently underwent a veterinary examination which cleared the gelding to start.

HAVRAN – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the request of the rider and was subsequently cleared to start.

KAIZARI – Held up rounding the home turn.

BLACK CRUSADE – Tightened for room at the start. Hung out rounding the home turn.

HARVEY DENT – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced three wide without cover.

VOLOMITE – Lost the off fore plate in the barriers.

Race 5: RAY WHITE IPSWICH F&M MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M

REDEOUS took charge of the rider during the preliminary and galloped a considerable distance before being restrained. The horse was declared a late scratching at 3:32 pm on veterinary advice. Following the event, stewards ordered that all monies invested on REDEOUS be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

0 cents in the dollar for the win #8
0 cents in the dollar for place of winner #8
5 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #1
3 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #10

JET SUKI – Blundered on jumping away. Raced three wide without cover.

CARNARVON – Began awkwardly.

MISS ORATORIO – Inclined to hang out and after passing the 300m had to be steadied away from heels. Rider R. Fradd reported to stewards that the filly was making an abnormal respiratory noise. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities, however trainer A. Willick reported that she would forward to stewards the results of an endoscopic examination she intended to have carried out on the filly.

Race 6: SIRROMET C,G&E BENCHMARK 62 H'CAP – 1200M

MASSIVE ATTACK – Shifted out abruptly approaching the winning post.

DAZET – When afforded the opportunity to comment on the horse's performance, apprentice E. Ljung stated that the gelding was under pressure for the majority of the race, failed to respond to her riding and proved disappointing. She added that the gelding may take a fitness benefit from today's run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings at the time of examination, however the veterinary surgeon recommended that the gelding undergo an endoscopic examination after the horse gallops.

RALPH THE DRAGON – Raced keenly in the early stages. Hung out rounding the home turn.

Race 7: XXXX SUMMER CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1680M

DUMFRIES – Raced wide in the early stages and then was allowed to stride forward to take up a position outside the leader near the 1400m.

NERO D'AVOLA – Had to be steadied approaching the 400m when placed in restricted room to the inside of PIPPOS, which shifted in. Had to be checked near the 1500m when tightened for room between PIPPOS, which shifted out, and DOVANA, which shifted in and away from DAVOR. Shifted out under pressure approaching the 100m and bumped PIPPOS, and over the concluding stages had some difficulty obtaining clear running. When asked to comment on the horse's performance, jockey L. Cassidy stated that after being checked in the early stages the gelding failed to travel comfortably throughout. He added that despite not finishing the race off strongly, he was not entirely disappointed in the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

CAPTAIN TREASURE – Improved on to heels rounding the home turn and shifted out, making contact with TORONTO FLYER.

TORONTO FLYER – Bumped rounding the home turn and in turn shifted out, making contact with DOVANA, which was forced wider.

PIPPOS – As B. Pengelly was indisposed due to illness, M. Hellyer was substituted as rider. Bumped approaching the 100m.

PROSPECTING – Began awkwardly.

DAVOR – Raced wide throughout. Forced wider rounding the home turn.

WALTZ IN FLIGHT – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

DOVANA – Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout without cover. Bumped and forced wider rounding the home turn.
