GreasleyStewards Secretary – W. Ostrofski Race 1: CHANNEL 7 MAIDEN PLATE – 2180M SHORT CHANGED – Began awkwardly, bumping another runner, and then shortly after shifted in and made heavy contact with another runner. After passing the winning post on the first occasion made the turn out of the straight very awkwardly and shifted out. Had a tendency to lay out rounding the home turn and was slightly tightened for room when YESIDO shifted in momentarily. L. Dittman was reprimanded and advised to afford runners sufficient room in similar circumstances. When questioned regarding the horse's performance, apprentice H. English stated that the intention was to lead but the gelding overraced in the early stages and was reluctant to settle at a speed she would have liked until a point passing the 1300m. She added that the gelding also raced greenly on a number of occasions throughout the event. SLIOCH – Hampered between runners on the turn out of the straight on the first occasion. IRISH HEART – Bumped heavily shortly after the start and lost ground. PUELLA – Bumped at the start. Race 2: CITY OF IPSWICH QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 800M DRUMEOUS – Began awkwardly. Bumped heavily approaching the 700m whilst racing greenly and forced wider on the track. SCOVERMAN – Placed in restricted room approaching the 700m, bumped heavily by another runner, became unbalanced and then shifted out, making heavy contact with another runner. TRICKY SAGA – Began awkwardly. EPICTION – Brushed the running rail near the 200m. JAMAICAN JOY – Shifted out approaching the 700m, made heavy contact with another runner and became unbalanced. GALAXIES – Had a tendency to lay in under riding over the concluding stages. Race 3: SKY RACING F&M CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1200M HANNAH'S WISH – Brushed the running rail passing the 900m. HOORIYA – Presented in the mounting yard with winkers and not blinkers as advertised. Due to a clerical error when the gear change was enacted, the change showed winkers being removed when in fact the horse should have been racing in winkers and not blinkers on as advertised. Stewards acceded to a request from trainer J. Zielke to race the horse in winkers and a public announcement was made to this effect. Slow into stride. Had to be steadied approaching the 400m when awkwardly placed at the heels of JERROCITY. JAZZY RULER – Began awkwardly. Forced wider on the track by another runner at the 700m. Race 4: COLIN BAYLISS MEMORIAL MAIDEN H’CAP – 1350M The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow the connections of 2nd placegetter INTERVENTIONS to view the photo finish image. INTERVENTIONS – Had a tendency to shift out under pressure after passing the 200m. WALK OF SHAME – Shifted wider on the track by another runner at the 1100m. Had to be steadied off heels on a number of occasions when overracing passing the 900m. SALUTE THE PRINCE – Raced three wide throughout. HELL OF A TIME – When questioned regarding the horse's seemingly improved performance, trainer M. Wilson advised that the horse has had three runs at its last preparation and following its last start he felt that it had come to the end of its campaign and it was sent for a spell. He added that since resuming from the spell the horse has pleased him in its work and had trialled quite well at the Gold Coast on Tuesday, 7 February. Mr Wilson said although he thought the horse had improved following the spell, he gave it a slim chance of winning in a 1350m race today, noting that the horse is a big horse and he was not overly confident that it would handle the tighter track today. He noted that the horse did have some luck in running in that it did not have to leave the fence, had an unimpeded run and ran home quite strongly at the finish, which confirmed his opinion that the horse may have some future as a stayer and would appreciate a longer trip as well. When asked whether the stable had supported the horse today, he said that some owners may have supported the horse due to being owners of the horse, but they were not overly confident of a win today. Stewards noted his comments. WICKED QUEEN – Bumped by another runner at the 1100m and in turn shifted another runner wider on the track. THE PONTSTER – Had to shift out when overracing at the 1100m to avoid the heels of INTERVENTIONS and in doing so made contact with another runner. Race 5: KEVIN KEIDGE MEMORIAL CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1690M Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer R. Lipp for the late notification of rider for DAZZLING HALO and WINE BARREL (Race 6). CELTIC RUSH – Slow into stride. SLALOM – Apprentice M. Murphy was fined $200 for weighing in over his allocated weight. Race 6: MAX STANDFIELD MEMORIAL C,G&E CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1200M The declaration of correct weight was delay to allow apprentice B. Panya, the rider of 3rd placegetter BALKAN BAMBINO, to view the stewards' patrol footage to determine whether she grounds on which to lodge an objection against any other runner. After viewing the videos apprentice Panya declined to lodge an objection. WINE BARREL – Displaced its offside bubble cheeker on the way to the barriers and as it was unable to be refitted the gelding raced without that gear. Hampered between runners shortly after the start. Held up rounding the home turn and had to shift wider on the track in order to obtain clear running in the straight. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. AMERICAN HERO – Overraced in the early stages. GLENTURRET – A. Allen reported that his mount felt uncomfortable in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer D. Murphy reported that consideration would be given to sending the horse for a spell. GENERATE – Laid in under pressure over the final 50m. BALKAN BAMBINO – Overraced in the early stages. Race 7: DR MERVYN FISH MEMORIAL CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1350M The start of this race was delayed to hold for an interstate event. The start was further delayed when LEGS UNBARRED proved difficult to load. Trainer W. Bannerot was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse's manners. LUNA FIORE – Shifted to a three wide position passing the 700m to improve. MARABEL – Connections advised that it would be the intention to have the horse ridden in a mid to back position. The horse was ridden accordingly. Hung out rounding the home turn. CALCETINES – Slow to begin. LEGS UNBARRED – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Brushed the running rail of its own accord passing the 1100m. CHOIX DE ROSES – Commenced to weaken passing the 400m and finished a distant last. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be exhibiting atrial fibrillation. Trainer N. McCall was advised that the results of an ECG and a veterinary clearance are to be provided prior to the horse racing again. ADJOURNED – Had to be steadied off the heels of LEGS UNBARRED passing the 400m. STEWARDS RACE DAY SUMMARY Summary of action concerning licensees ReprimandsRace 1. L.
